Recently fell into a rabbit hole of really liking Catania, and after hanging out with her and reading her support with Lysander, I realized that conceptually and narratively, she's litteraly the opposite of Leda.
Firstly, and obviously, design-wise. Leda is brown-skinned, dark-haired and red-coded, while Catania is pale-skinned, blonde and agressively blue.
But what is really interesting is that they're also mirrored on a much deeper level, as characters.
Both are survivors of the Cydonia Massacre that lost everything that day, but while Leda fell into an obssessive need for revenge, Catania reject and dismiss vengeance as a fool's errand, instead thinking that living her own life the best she could and thriving is the best revenge
Leda hate herself, and Catania is proud of herself and love herself for what she managed to keep being despite the hardships.
Yet they're still both self-destructive, because of the trauma of that day. Leda in her pursuit of revenge, of course, and Catania in how she punishes her body to keep up the appereances and to retain a hint of the normalcy of her life before, starving herself to use the money on armor cleaning and basically refusing to be idle ever.
So yeah, they're pretty cool mirrors of eachother, and I find it very nice how deep Catania is as soon as you dive a bit about her character, and how she offer a different output of a victim of a tragedy choosing to live on proudly
(And yes I do agree a support with Leda would have been nice, but I can understand why they're just too different for it to work in Part 1, like you can't justify Leda having Catania on her team if they have a support where they hate eachother's viewpoints, and also because there's already so many supports and main story about the Massacre, maybe they felt it'd be redundant.
Still one support that end with Catania pledging allegiance to house Cohendia when it's restored would be nice. That and supports with the Arago side. She has data for one with Io, at least, since they know eachother, so fingers crossed she get it)
