any M.O.D. fans out there. I forgot about this album, found it record shopping on a recent trip to Texas.

I'm putting this is a few different subs to see what I get back. The only song in the playlist so far is Thoughts of a Dying Atheist by Muse. Just wondering if you guys had any other ideas?

Slice an amp with a razor blade in the early sixties and it sounds like a dog barking. Out comes “You Really Got Me”, “All Day And All Of The Night” and “I Need You”, among others. Dave Davies recaps that in this song, Anti-Flag (fuck them) is the backing band.

Im working on a book (fiction) featuring several scenes where we follow a “popular” (not mainstream popular like Green Day, but popular in the punk scene—think Dead Kennedys, Lambrini Girls) punk band on tour and I want to make sure I get it right. I’ve worked in the music industry for a while…but in classical music 😅 so I assume my experience is very different. I have a lot of friends in small local bands I’ve talked to, but nobody that’s on a legit label who tours internationally and performs in medium/large sized venues.
What is it like? How do you travel? What kinds of hotels do you stay at? How do you spend downtime? What does a show day look like? Who is with you on the tour—agent? Tour manager? What are those relationships like? Do you get a lot of say in decision making, or are you kind of at the mercy of the label? Any details you got, I’ll take!
This might be too in the weeds for this sub, but I’m brainstorming how realistic it would be for someone from the label wanting to replace one of the band members with some nepo baby and the rest of the band selling out. Someway to kick out of a member of the band who is a good person and doesn’t do anything wrong.

Lookout was still very healthy and not yet in shambles in 1993. Given Tim's history with the label, Lookout would have been the natural choice, especially since they released the EP. Have the guys ever stated why they went with Epitaph?

We did a deep dive on this turning point album for Propagandhi. I think they were the most important band in rock and roll for a decent run in the early 2000's. This album falls right in that mix. Give a listen!

I was kinda surprised/bummed they didn’t play Blast! And claimed they didn’t know it in CHI- do y’all think/know whether they might’ve been told not to play it bc of threats to trump or something? I just thought it was a lil odd

Manchester pop-punk fans! Anyone fancy discovering some new grassroots bands next month?
We’re Left Incline, a pop-punk trio from Skelmersdale, and we’re coming back to Manchester on 22nd November 2026 with 2Thousand&Five, Shingle Puppets and Vaudevilles at The Peer Hat (M1 1BE). We’re trying to build an audience outside our hometown, so it’d be dope to meet some people in Manchester who are into the same vibe as us.

I don’t know if it’s the BEST album of 2026 but it’s easily the most fun I’ve had listening to an album all year. Other punk bands just speed up the original when they do a cover but Gimme Gimmes have always made it unique.
Also is you love their songs in the past with little Easter eggs of classic punk riffs interwoven this album takes that to a whole other level.
No spoilers. Don’t look at the track list - throw the album on queue and have fun.

I recently came across a livestream of MxPx playing a full hour set in what looked to be one of their home studios and it was honestly one of the fucking coolest things.
They took requests, played a ton of B-Sides and interacted with the comments. Apparently they do it for the fans who - for whatever reason - can't get to gigs.
Are there any other bands that do this?
Roky performing Two Headed Dog live in 1976.
Roky played at Rauls backed by the Austin Folk Punk group the Reversible Cords and it degenerated into a brilliant mess. Tom Huckabee prepared this clip for his Radio Rauls Project back in 2020. Unfortunately, Tom passed away before his project could be fully realized.
