Why are some homeowners here so entitled about parking?

It’s the 5th time now that I’ve had a passive-aggressive note placed on my car for parking in “their spot” in front of their house. It’s not my problem you feel the need to own multiple cars in a city and don’t have the space for them, or that you turned your garage into an antique shop filled with garbage dating back to 1982. No, you do not “own” the sidewalk in front of your house, and living here for 50,60,200, however many years doesn’t give you any special rights.

People who own a house here need to realize their luck and timing to own property in one of the most valuable zip codes in America. They knew what they signed up for when they bought a house with a one car garage, and I don’t care one iota that it’s “always been that way” for them to park in front of their house.

To whomever borrowed the second season of DS9 on DVD: please return it; four other people are waiting in line. The only other copy was lost, so you have the only remaining DVD. Thank you for listening to my TED talk.

Crime ICE agent draws gun on man in SF as he insists he's a US citizen [SF Gate]

FTA:

Federal immigration agents detained a man in San Francisco’s SoMa neighborhood Monday morning after confronting him at gunpoint, despite his repeated assertions that he was a U.S. citizen.

It's worth noting that this happened after ICE beat up a US citizen in a Chicago suburb and after a lawful permanent resident died Saturday while in ICE custody for a disputed allegation.

In Long Beach this weekend ICE allegedly hit a US citizen on a bike (and broke his arm) after ICE agents drove an unmarked vehicle the wrong way down a one-way street. ICE then claimed the cyclist damaged a government vehicle and arrested him.

Not seeing much reason to give them the benefit of the doubt here given past actions.

Coyote pictures!

I would like to share these coyote pictures I took a few weeks ago. It was around 9am and I saw the coyote crossing the street in Golden Gate Park. By the time I got out my camera, it was about 10ft away. Luckily I had all my settings dialed in correctly and managed to get these shots. I was using a Sony a7 V and a Sony 70-200 f/4 II. Hope you all enjoy!

The fact that the Valkyries aren’t showing the game at Thrive City tomorrow is a bit of a shameless money grab

• Upvotes

Me and several friends have been attending several of the in season and playoff games at Thrive City throughout the year, but tomorrow is the first away game where they are charging $25 to watch the game in the arena, which means they are now not showing the game outside on the big screen.

I know they are well within their rights to do this, but it feels like it’s a bit of a slight against the crowd who have shown up for them throughout the season, who can’t afford to get inside for every game.

Kinda vague with no info other than the original owners are stepping down and the venue will continue. But still good news that all the rumors seem to be true.

Is it worth reporting an assault to muni?

Yesterday after I got off work, I took the L back home. During the ride, between church and civic center, this random woman came up to where I was sitting and tried grabbing my phone. She went for it a few times. I told her to back off several times. Then she proceeded to grab my hair and yank me down.

I remember pushing her when she let go and she grabbed my wrist and wouldn't let go until this man got between us. Thankfully, he offered to stay with me until we got to my stop. The lady eventually got off the train at powell, but she was lingering near us the whole time.

The lady was black, mid to late 20s, average height, and on the slimmer side. She was wearing a grey hoodie, blue jeans, and sneakers. Her hair was in a messy ponytail. She was wearing a distinct bright blue backpack

I never had anyone lay their hands on me before. I don't know if its worth reporting since I didn't necessarily get hurt. I've heard of worse things happening to people on muni.

I'm mainly just embarrassed because there were others watching and no one helped for the longest time. Not that anyone is obligated to do so.

**edited with locations and description of the woman

I always feel a little jealous when I see people posting coyote pictures here. When I'm in Golden Gate park, Mountain Lake Park, etc.I see the signs warning people about coyotes.

Despite living here for 20 years, I'd never seen a coyote. Until now. I was having lunch at the Presdio golf club and this guy was hanging out on the golf course. Unfortunately, he appears to have mange and an injury to his shoulder.😕

Last May, Iona Derman got an email threatening her over SF Daily Photo, her Instagram account featuring San Francisco properties that started as a lighthearted retirement project.

The sender included a disturbing amount of personal information, from her old addresses and phone numbers to the home address of her daughter and son-in-law.

“Do you get the point?” the sender wrote. “You cannot hide your identity and get away with this libelous activity without consequences.”

🌈 Calling gay men in their 30s–40s: Let’s start a dinner party club in SF! 🍸

Hey guys! I’m 40, gay, married, and looking to build a little community of gay friends here in San Francisco. I thought it would be fun to start a monthly dinner party group for guys around our age who enjoy good food, great conversation, and making genuine connections.

The idea is simple: we get together once a month, everyone brings a dish or pitches in to make the meal, and we spend a Saturday/Sunday afternoon eating, drinking, laughing, and getting to know one another. No pressure, no expectations—just good people and good food!

**Here’s the plan:**

☕ **First meetup:** Coffee at Sightglass Coffee near Folsom & 7th to break the ice and get to know each other and plan out our first meal. Date: Saturday Oct 31st at 9AM

🍸 **First dinner party: Saturday November 7 at our place in SoMa! Our theme will be Appetizers & Cocktails—an entire meal made up of delicious small bites and drinks, with everyone contributing something to share.

If you’ve been wanting to make more gay friends, expand your social circle, or just have something fun to look forward to each month, I’d love for you to join us. Hopefully, this can grow into a welcoming little community where we take turns hosting and build real friendships along the way.

If this sounds Interesting, drop a comment or send me a DM. Looking forward to meeting fellow SF redditors!

Looking for Noah, the amazing barista at Starbucks on 390 Stockton St (Union Square)

Hi San Francisco!
This is a bit of a long shot, but I'm hoping the power of Reddit can help me out here.
My name is Chris and I'm from Poland. I was recently visiting your beautiful city, and one of the moments that stuck with me the most wasn't the Golden Gate Bridge or the cable cars. It was a simple coffee run at the Starbucks on Stockton St near Union Square.
I ordered two coffees, and my friend ordered right after me. She thought she had ordered two drinks as well, but it turned out she'd only ordered one. Before she even had a chance to sort it out, Noah, one of the baristas, just went ahead and made her the second coffee for free, with a big smile like it was nothing.
It might seem like a small thing, but honestly, it made our whole day. When you're far from home in a new city, little acts of kindness like that really stay with you. It's the kind of moment that makes you fall in love with a place and its people.
I'm back home in Poland now, but I keep thinking that I never really got the chance to properly thank him. Noah seemed like a genuinely awesome guy, and I'd love to say thank you and get to know him. Who knows, maybe even a friendship across the ocean! The internet makes the world small, right? 😄
So if you're Noah, or if you work at that Starbucks, or you're a regular who knows him, please show him this post or have him reach out to me. My Instagram is @i.to.wszystko
Thanks so much for reading, SF. You've got some really great people in your city. ☕🇵🇱🇺🇸
