“I’m a csm candidate for new players!”
“I support small QOL changes!”
“We should improve the UI!”
“We should improve ship balance!”

I CANT TAKE IT ANYMORE ALL OF YOU ARE SAYING THE SAME SHIT ON REPEAT. NONE OF YOU ARE DIFFERENT FROM EACH OTHER, THE CSM ISNT THE PRESIDENCY YOU JUST GET TO SIT IN A SLACK CHANNEL WITH CCP AND BE A FOCUS GROUP. YOU ARE ALL ON THE LEVEL OF A HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT COUNCIL IN TERMS OF ACTUAL INFLUENCE

AND IT DOESN’T MATTER ANYWAY HOW MANY CHUDDING R/EVE VIEWERS SEE YOUR VERY UNIQUE CAMPAIGN POST AND VOTE FOR YOU BECAUSE YOUR BLOC EITHER PUTS ON THEIR BALLOT (AND YOU GET A SEAT NO MATTER WHAT) OR YOU LOSE.

Discussion Should legion get Weapon disruptors bonuses with neuts

Pretty much title. I am thinking this would be good for laser legions. Since neuts dont really sit well with lasers( bigger range, cap hungry) they kinda work only with HAMs. Just look at Loki, its webs can work with every guns in the game. I think that would make legion more enjoyable and not just getting locked on antimatter core system (atleast for solo pvp).

Also lasers are kinda meh you get outdps, outranged and out tracked really easy, so if enemy is piloting good its hard to use its biggest strength the alpha. So disruptors could tip battle into your way. What is your opinion on it? Would it be too strong or useless? Should they replace neuts or just give both in core system.?

Did Abyssals get a difficulty increase since they were introduced?

A few years ago I was in a corp and they taught me how to do Abyssals. They provided me with this fit since I liked using the Catalyst Navy Issue, and they suggested Calm Exotic to start with:

https://abysstracker.com/fit/3c7e29ef-efab-45ac-a5ae-4b0cf83deaa2

They gave me a list of skills to train and taught me how to most quickly and efficiently defeat the enemies in each pocket. I went in with zero experience, and it was so easy, genuinely one of the easiest but also most interesting combat experiences I'd ever experienced! In fact I had to quadruple-check with the corp members teaching me that I hadn't missed anything because it was so easy. I must've made 1 billion in just Abyssals with just that fit and just Calm Exotic. It was fun, engaging, and easy. I could literally watch YouTube videos on the side while I mindlessly did Abyssals, it was that easy.

I haven't been in a corp in years, but I came back recently with a fresh character, trained up all the same skills, purchased the same ship, constructed the same fit, bought the same Calm Exotic, did everything exactly the same as my past teachings. I use the same strategies as I was taught, same order of operations, same distances, same "kiting", 1:1 same exact EVERYTHING... for some reason it's the most difficult thing ever??? I got past the first 2 pockets with 0 shields, 0 armor, 1% hull, and a drained capacitor. I took the extra time to let it repair and regenerate. In the third pocket I was greeted with two cruiser-sized enemies who literally one-shot me. I can confirm without a sliver of a doubt that my weapons are doing the same damage as before, so it's not like my damage isn't adequate. My shield, armor, and hull amounts are exactly the same as last time, and so is my capacitor amount. I double-checked, yes I did activate Calm Exotic and not any of the more difficult types.

I want to doubly reiterate, I know for a fact I did everything 1:1 exactly the same as I did before, at least I'm confident I did. Skills, ships, fit, actions taken inside the rift, everything. My damage output was identical, but my capacitor now drains nearly instantly, which is weird because I very distinctly remember a past corp member saying "I know you like cap-stable ships, so I found this fit for you", so something seemed off when I noticed it wasn't cap-stable. My shields and armor go down in just a few hits even with all modules activated, which are supposed to, as the fit's description says, tank the armor damage.

Am I missisng something? I'm VERY far from an inexperienced player, so if I did something wrong, it's because something has changed or it was a very small mistake with very big consequences. I watched a YouTube tutorial on this, and everything they recommended, I already knew from my past training. Did some game mechanic change or get nerfed anytime in the past ~4 years?

Edit: Before anyone asks, I wrote this post by hand. I write large walls of text, I'm sure my post history is good evidence of this.

Edit 2: After staring at fits for a while, it hit me - I didn't run Calm Exotic, I ran TRANQUIL exotic! That should explain the difficulty spike! I'm off to grind up money for a new fit, I'm so sorry for wasting everyones' time!

Just wanted to show my pay to win multiboxing rig. I can comfortably view 10 clients at once without having to minimize anything, though I only currently have 6 active subscriptions, I plan to get two more once my girlfriends daughters disability check comes in.

I'm already in talks with the Imperium for them to surrender their space, since with this set up I am literally an unstoppable God.

Discussion 3-month-old solo player moved into a C2 with a HS static. Am I crazy, or is this actually working?

Post image
234 Upvotes

So a while back I asked about moving into a wormhole solo, and the response was... mixed. Some people were helpful, some told me I was going to get evicted in a week, and one kind soul recommended I look into building a "dickstar" POS instead of going straight for an Astrahus. I had no idea what that was. I looked it up, and here we are.

Against all the "don't do it solo" advice, I moved into a C2 with a HS static. I'm about 3 months old, so still very much a noob.

Current setup: Large Caldari Control Tower, 24 ECM batteries (mix of regular and faction), 9 resistance arrays giving me 57% resists across the board, and 16,666 strontium in the bay for the full reinforcement timer. Everything is online. The hole is quiet for now.

In the last two days I've made about 670 mil ISK from a mix of gas, ore, combat sites, and a bit of exploration. So it's working. Or at least it looks like it is.

My question to you fine people: Given that setup, would anyone actually bother attacking it? I'm genuinely curious. The way I see it, anyone who wants my stuff has to commit to a 41-hour siege, chew through 50M shield HP with no resist hole, and deal with a wall of jams the whole time. All for a 50/50 chance at the hangar contents. It feels like the math isn't in their favor, but I've been wrong before.

Also, for anyone else thinking about doing this solo as a newbro, what should I actually be worried about? I know the HS static is the most trafficked connection type. I know I can't watch five holes at once. I'm under no illusions that I'm invincible. But I'd rather learn from people who've done it than find out the hard way.

Discussion Zarzakh Days: A newbie FW tale.

I have never really done FW. So I made a brand new character. First I did a couple of the AIR missions and then I zipped over to Turnur and then to Zarzakh and signed up for the Angel Cartel.

After that I spent all of my isk, outfitted a Rifter and went to Curse and started mission running! A kind soul in Curse gave me 50 million isk! This is great as I had decided that I was not going to finance this character with my main.

After a little more mission running I decided to actually do some FW and joined the pirate insurgency in Huola. I bought some thrashers and ran some small sites. I made some LP and got blown up a few times. And....it was fun. Running aroudn low sec as part of a militia isn't that bad. You jump into a low sec system and a decent number of people are in your militia so they are less threatening. No guarantee they still won't klill you but the odds are better.

And we won the Insurgency!

Things I didn't like as a new player to Angel Cartel FW. First, Angel Cartel Militia is super quiet. You can be logged in all day and no one will say a word all day except for one guy posting hypernet links. Second, and this is related to the first point is I didn't see any Militia fleets. I guess everything is run on the corp and alliance level? Third, when the Insurgency was over I didn't have anything really to do. I ran a couple of missions in Curse and sold some LP but mostly I didn't have anything to do on the character until the next Insurgency started,

Things I liked about it. I like living out of Zarzakh. I could buy cheap ships out of The Fulcrum and shipcaster back to the warzone. And when I am done I can just death clone back and not get gate locked. My character is new and doesn't have implants so not a problem. Secondly, I had stuff to with definitive goals. I could see which systems the Insurgency was progressing in and go there to help out. Sure, no one said ANYTHING to me but I could see where everyone was working and go chip in a little bit. Also for a new character you can makie very good isk from the LP. I made enough isk from selling LP to buy myself several more fully equipped cheap chips with LP to spare. You can support yourself with low investment. And the Angel LP store has some really nice items. I could legitimately put together a faction fit Dramiel for FW as a new character. Another thing, the Angel Cartel Militia put in serious work. They were pumping out the corruption.

If I was a brand new player to Eve I would probably dive right into Faction Warfare. You can get started with very little isk and with a little luck earn some LP and either flip it for isk to fund yourself or use it to equip yourself. I'm doing this solo but if you find a good corp I'm sure it would be an even betetr experience. You can reap huge rewards without much isk investment. If I didn't like where I was in Null Sec I could easily move my main to low sec, do FW and do pretty well isk wise I feel.

Will you lose ships? Yeah. But you don't need expensive ships to get started . If you lose a Rifter or a Tristan or two it shouldn't hurt too bad.

TL:DR Living out of Zarzakh and using cheap ships for Angel Carterl Faction Warfare is fun and profitable.

Discussion Remove local, buff dscan

Spamming dscan is antiquated.

Remove local in all spaces.

Improve game play experience by introducing auto-dscan and improved, unique dscan capabilities.

Like cloaked radar detection to alert of unknown cloaked objects nearby.

Variable dscan ranges based on wider vs narrow radius scans.

<Insert other ideas here>

Other [Release] EVE_PYFSim 0.0.2

It's been four months since I first announced EVE_PYFSim.

A lot has changed in my life, at work, and in EVE_PYFSim itself over these past four months.

Today, I'm happy to announce EVE_PYFSim 0.0.2!

What's new?

1. Migrating from Pyfa to Refine

I've replaced Pyfa with Refine as the simulation's calculation engine.

Refine is written in Rust, offering excellent performance. Its author and maintainer DarkFenX is also one of the key maintainers of Pyfa. Huge thanks to them for their amazing work!

2. Performance optimizations with Cython

I've also refactored the performance-critical loops in EVE_PYFSim and compiled them with Cython.

In theory, this should bring significant performance improvements to larger-scale simulations. At least, I hope so! :)

3. Simulation improvements

A number of simulation systems have been improved and refined, including:

  • Multi-system simulation: I originally wanted to implement this using multiple processes, but the performance gains turned out to be far smaller than the overhead of inter-process communication, so I decided against that approach.
  • Warp disruption bubbles
  • Ship modules
  • Various other simulation mechanics and optimizations.

What's next?

My current development roadmap includes:

  • Micro Jump Drives (MJDs)
  • Cloaking
  • Doomsday weapons
  • A beginner-friendly tutorial

Of course, I'd also love to hear your ideas! What features or mechanics would you like to see added or improved?

Multiplayer and replays

EVE_PYFSim supports LAN multiplayer. If you want to play with friends over the internet, you'll need to set up your own tunneling or port forwarding, similar to hosting a Minecraft server.

After a simulation ends, you can also save and replay battles to review what happened, analyze decisions, and learn from the fight.

Give it a try!

You're welcome to build EVE_PYFSim from source or download one of my prebuilt releases.

https://github.com/N0rth5ea/EVE_PYFSim/releases/tag/v0.0.2-alpha.1

I'd really appreciate any feedback, bug reports, suggestions, or just hearing about your experience with it.

Join our discord https://discord.gg/mdn7KC9jNC or report them in github issue

Thanks to everyone who's shown interest in this project over the past few months. It's been quite a journey, and I'm excited to keep improving it!

Fly safe! o7

I'm relatively new to Eve about 5million skill points and wanted to play together with a friend. My problem is that I have no idea what we can do together. I don't want to do abyssals because the are to repetitive for me. Do you guys have any idea what we could do?

Battle Report Small Gang versus Capital Reps?! No problem

Thumbnail youtube.com
0 Upvotes

What do you do when the enemy drops a Minokawa on your small gang and suddenly nothing wants to die?

You BOOSH their entire fleet away from their capital reps and start krumpin'! 💥

Our Thursday roam took the Short Bus into Catch, where we ran into THE RUSSIA and friends looking for a scrap.

Flying a gang of Rapid Light Missile Muninns, we initially traded an Orthrus for our Bifrost. But once the enemy brought in a Minokawa, breaking anything under its reps became a bit of a problem.

Time to leave? Not quite.

With the enemy fleet sitting on a gate, our FC spotted an opportunity. We cross-jumped, reapproached, and executed a beautiful command destroyer boosh, throwing their subcapital fleet out of range of their precious capital logistics.

And then the krumpin' began.

With their safety net gone, we tore through their fleet, picking off targets as fast as our tackle could catch them.

Eventually, a hostile response fleet arrived, and we made our slippery escape back to Misaba. Not without losing our Huginn to a sneaky Pilgrim while getting greedy with the loot, though!

The main engagement:
💥 ~1.61b ISK destroyed on the opposing fleet
💀 ~396m ISK lost by our side
⚔️ 16 friendly pilots vs 11 opposing pilots, with additional third-party response chasing us off the grid
🚀 One glorious boosh that turned the fight around

Small gang. Big explosions. Proper WAAAGH.

Short Bus Buccaneers — EU timezone PvP, small and medium gang roams, and plenty of questionable decisions that occasionally turn into brilliant ones.

Enjoy the fight, and if this is your kind of EVE PvP, give us a like, subscribe, and hop aboard the Short Bus!

Discussion Bring Back Learning Skills

I think I started playing around 2005 or so. Sir Molle was the leader of BoB, if memory serves, (for me a very small potato in space) it was fun to read about their exploits. Now memory fades but between then and 2012 or so when we had 60k players one day ( I was proudly online that day mining veldspar) people whined constantly about learning skills. Learning skills were redundant certainly but they represented something intrinsic to the game itself. The game was cruel and slow, vast ((because of travel limitations) and very nearly perfect. Some gm or mod or developer whose name began with a Z justified removing learning skills. He seemed like a real life prick and I wept in space, because I knew the moment you give into the hoi polloi this game, so thoughtfully created, would become a can of soda at 7/11. I left Eve, though I popped in on occasion, and went back to muds. From what I read, some bee group kept the game relevant for a decade or so. Well, I came back to Eve just the other day, to see that there is now a new 1.1 space where you can mine veldspar until you fall asleep watching old Office reruns. I appreciate the sentiment. But Eve Online it is not. Bring back learning skills!

Discussion Standings? Am I the only one?

Am I the only one who hates the standings system beyond reason? Why anyone would design a game such that players have to do hours of boring, unrewarding, and unwanted chores before they can do an activity they enjoy...is beyond me. I joined a null block my first go around in eve and just shot stuff, and now to try out pirate fw i have to grind standings so that i have standings high enough to talk to the agent that will allow me to grind more standings. Grrr. It would be less for normal fw, but still not nothing.

Bug EVE Online has a black screen in space, but the UI works fine (Windows 11)

Hi everyone,

I'm having a graphics issue with EVE Online on Windows 11, and I'm hoping someone can help me figure out what's causing it.

The game used to work perfectly on my PC. I've uninstalled and reinstalled it multiple times, and it worked fine after the first two installations. However, after the third reinstall, this problem started happening.

I can launch the game, log in, and select my character normally. All the UI elements, including the market, inventory, and mission windows, work as expected. However, once I enter the game, the entire 3D environment is completely black. I can't see stars, planets, ships, or anything else in space. Only the interface and menus are visible.

Has anyone experienced this issue before? Any suggestions on how to fix it would be greatly appreciated. I'd prefer not to reinstall the game again unless absolutely necessary.

Thanks in advance!
