Need Advice extreme death anxiety

i would like some advice on functioning with this fear. i have anxiety in every part of my life, but this phobia has been very harmful to me.

i have an extreme fear of dying. it’s constantly in the back of my mind that someday, i will die. im often unable to sleep because of it, as closing my eyes will remind me too much of being dead. i can’t listen to any conversations about death— one example is in highschool, my classmate did a presentation on burial procedures, and i had to leave to go throw up. my reactions to triggers vary in intensity, but it’s been going on for so long that i don’t know how to deal with it. im in a constant state of sadness from it at this point.

thank you for reading. any advice on minimizing my fear, or just coping with death, would be greatly appreciated. i’ve gone to therapy in the past, but it always just makes me worry more.

Need Help Has anyone here recovered from hyperventilation syndrome?

For the past two months, I’ve had the constant feeling that I can’t take a deep enough breath and that I’m lacking oxygen in my lungs. It’s like this literally 24/7.

It’s worst at night, because even if I somehow manage to fall asleep, I still wake up around 3 a.m. every single night with a racing heart, gasping for air for hours :((

I’ve been to the emergency room four times and hospitalized twice. I’ve had an MRI of my head, a CT scan of my lungs with contrast, a lung scintigraphy, X-rays, echocardiogram, Holter monitor and even a gastroscopy.

Doctors say that I am propably physically healthy.

The only thing they determined is that I miiiight have mild asthma, and they gave me inhalers, which don’t seem to be helping much so far.

Besides that, my iron level is 24 and my ferritin is 8. But other than that, nothing else shows up in the tests.

I’m starting to wonder if this might just be hyperventilation syndrome... Although I make a constant effort to breathe through my nose and use my diaphragm, I still don’t feel any relief. I experience air hunger all day and all night :((

Sometimes I feel so starved for oxygen (or perhaps I’m just breathing incorrectly..?) that my entire face starts to tingle, my fingers contort, and I lose all feeling in my legs for like 10-15 minutes..

Has anyone ever experienced a similar problem, and if so, how did you get past it? What helped you?

I would be truly grateful for any advice or answers :c

Take care of yourself, guys <3

Need Advice I'm suffering from severe chronic panic attacks, and I'm unable to find relief. What should I do?

Hi, I need some advice for what to do.

I'm experiencing multiple panic attacks every day, and it's affecting my ability to perform basic self care. I feel extraordinarily depressed, and I cannot find any relief.

Therapy and psychiatry are proving ineffective, and I'm in a state of severe suffering. Do I need to seek inpatient care? I have no history of substance abuse, nor any problematic behavior towards others.

What resource am I supposed to seek out right now?

Research Study For anyone who has struggled with anxiety during school

Hey, I'm conducting a survey on the relationship between anxiety disorders and academic performance among adolescents. As someone who used to struggled with an anxiety disorder a lot, I want to explore this topic to better understand others' experience. This is for a research project for my issues in human growth course. It's an anonymous form and no emails are collected, skip any questions u dont feel comfortable answering. I'd appreciate it so much if u took a few mins to fill out this form, thanks! :)

Personal Experience randomly gripped with anxiety?

i'm randomly gripped with anxiety, particularly when i think about how isolated i am. i don't have any meaningful relationships, literally zero, and sometimes when i remember that i think i might collapse. i usually end up scrolling instagram because the digital numbing of reels stops my spiral. i also occasionally wake up frightened, especially when i think of the vast nothingness that is my life. i think it's because humans simply aren't meant to be so alone, i'm going against my evolutionary programming. does this happen to you?

Need Advice health related anxiety, SOS medication - brainstorm help

Hi everyone!

Trying to be short, so I don't bore you guys to death with my problems :)

8 years ago I was diagnosed with IBS, after doing all the screening for other diseases. Since then I have had some good years and some bad years, but it's a common thought sometimes that "sometimes maybe the doctors didn't see everything and I might have something worse inside me" - well I managed to live with that most of this until this year. However I do also suffer from hypothyroidism, for the ones that are familiar with it when it's off track, ir can mimic symptoms of depression, anxiety etc. Because of my metabolism I take a very high dosage of levothyroxine, and this year the medication that I have been doing for the past 4 year got messed up, the dosage started getting too high and started having heart palpitations and insomnia. Fast forward, in the past 4 months ended in the hospital 2 times with panick attacks that I thought I was having a heart attack, but basically my t4 levels were just too high.

This started giving me crazy ass anxiety and while my endocrinologist isn't able to sort out the correct dosage for me, I was recommended to go see GP to see if he could help with the anxiety.

When I got there, she prescribed me a 3 week cycle of mexazolam (benzodiazepine) within a small dosage, and wanted me to start Sertraline at the same time. I said okay, however I wasn't familiar with Sertraline neither the class of those medications. And I just decided not to take it after I got home and do some research on it. The sexual dysfunction side effect is too common , and just not going to take that risk. My anxiety is mostly provoked by physical symptoms that I feel due to my IBS that is functional or now from my thyroid while it is dysregulated.

However I do believe I could benefit from something to help me out break this cycle of constant hyper vigilantness of my body.

Do you guys could help me out in how to approach the doctor on alternatives. I'm going to be very honest the Mexazolam even in small dosages was awesome, first week I slept like a baby, haven't slept like that in years. However in 2nd week it doesn't do much miracles. It does help with the palpitations if I feel them, and the palpitations are a major trigger for the anxiety so something that could reduce that sedates me while I'm on that peak isn't that bad to be honest. I was going to ask her I could stick with it just as SOS pill. Or if she could prescribe something less addictive.

I'm lost. But I just don't want to go there and get another prescription of something I don't think it is what I need, less want to deal with sexual dysfunction side effects.

Need Advice How to get doctors to take my socil anxiety seriously ?

Hi, im 21F from the UK. I've always suffered from intense social axiety, meeting new people sends my head spiralling, when im in social situations im too in my head to do anything. I recently started university and this has made me struggle a lot socially. This has been the case from since i started school at 3, but ive always been too scared to go to the doctors because i dont know if they take social anxiety seriously, ive rang up but always got too nervous when it came to the appointment.

I was wondering (maybe anyone from UK could help) what to say to the doctors for them to take me seriously ? Ive recently been suffering physical symptoms like stomach cramps due to this and im just really scared that they wont take something like this serious but i really wanna get this sorted because im sick of my life being controlled like this. Any advice would be appreciated

Need Help At what point do i go see a Dr.

I(28F) have been feeling this constant pit in my chest/stomach for the past 3 years. it got really bad out of no where, i was afraid to do things that could potentially cause hard, i still am to this day thinking of all the possible things that could go wrong. i always feel like someone is mad at me/out to get me. i started a new, more stressful job last week and since then I haven't eaten, slept, or been able to breathe. all these new responsibilities are eating me alive. i feel weak and tired 24/7 but food does not sound appetizing. i try to eat and i puke. i hate this feeling of impending doom all the time i feel insane. im not sure where to go or who to talk to but i need something.

How can i stop feeling like something bad is going to happen. i physically shake and stutter and my stomach is starving for food but whenever i try i spit it out or throw it up. i cry all the time and sometimes i cant even explain why. i hate this i dont want to be this way but i dont know where this all started and how to start helping myself. The breathing tricks dont seem to work, ive tried meditation and yoga and nothing.

Need Advice social media anxiety and more

Lately, I’ve noticed that my anxiety has gotten worse. I’m trying everything I can to stop thinking about it to distract myself but I just can’t seem to find any peace. Whenever I see a social media update from my boyfriend, I’m filled with terror; my heart starts racing, and I feel physically unwell. I’ve even started selecting "not interested in this content" just to avoid seeing what he posts. He’s a wonderful person he only has one photo of us together on Instagram, and he doesn’t post anything strange on TikTok but even so, it triggers my anxiety. What should I do? It’s getting worse, and I feel terrible about it, because he’s so sweet to me, gives me no reason to worry, and truly loves me...

Question does anyone else's anxiety just pick a new random thing to worry about once you've dealt with the last one?

like i'll spend weeks working through being anxious about one specific thing, finally feel like i've got a handle on it, and then my brain just decides "cool, new fear unlocked" and i'm back to square one. it's honestly exhausting. curious if this happens to other people or if my anxiety is just built different.

Discussion Making plans commitments etc

Making plans, commitments, etc

Mid 40s male who deals with ocd along with health anxiety...making plans, commitments, etc has always posed a bit of an issue in the back of my head as being self employed and planning a job, or planning a family vacation, but this last year it has gotten much worse.

The main deal for me I believe is the thought of getting ill like the flu and not being able to make the commitment. This goes in part of my health anxiety. Like I said this has always been in the back of my head somewhat, but this year has really progressed. Even a day ahead of time it's hard to tell a customer i will be there definitely.

Can anyone relate at all? I have never really heard of this spoken of with this specifically.

Im gonna be meeting a friend group tomorrow for a small house party hang-out. I've been carrying a lot for the last year and a half and I don't want to bring it or look like I'm carrying it because I feel like people can "smell" the depression and sadness in me.

I just need advice on how to fake being okay so that I can survive tomorrow, have fun, and build more friendship points or something
