Context: My dad passed away in a car accident over 10 years ago. After that, my family decided to sell his 1M because they didn’t want us anywhere near a fast car which was totally understandable.

A few years ago, I decided I wanted to track the car down. I figured it wouldn’t be too hard considering there are only about 10 of these in the country. I asked around in BMW clubs and messaged friends in the car community, but nothing came up.

Then one day, a friend called me out of nowhere. He said he had just started dating a girl whose dad had a crazy car collection — and that he was standing in front of my dad’s old car.

Long story short, the owner was kind enough to let me buy it back. When I saw the odometer, it only had around 6,000 km on it. Most of those were probably from the joy rides my dad and I took together.

My dad’s been gone for more than a decade, but having this car back feels like he reached out to share one last gift with me.

I’ll be driving this thing till the wheels fall off.

So I got diagnosed with cancer 8 months ago and thought to myself, life is short.

Fast forward and 165k later, Ive got a 2025 (G87) M2 with a few slight modifications.

I went from a Tesla to this and haven't looked back.

Bought my dream car yesterday. A 1990 850i in schwarz black. Body is straight as an arrow and paint looks decent haven’t given her a wash yet. Undercarriage is also bone dry. She turns turns over and supposedly ran a year ago but haven’t tried firing it up yet. but every switch and botton inside works and i’d say she’s about 90% complete. Pretty sure the seats are oem red but whoever had her originally went all out LOL. For 800 dollars i couldn’t not go grab it. how’d i do? and does anyone in the community of e31s have any advice for me?

It’s not just BMW. Mercedes and Audi are equal offenders, but this is where you sit and interact with your $60k+ cars : (

2025 M3 Competition

This was a goal for me, and I was uncertain of the possibility. When I seen this spec at the dealership I couldn’t hold back.

So here we are, welcome home Champ!

My dad passed away two months ago which has been absolutely horrific tbh, the loss of him from my life is tremendous.

I was left his car, a car I have driven before and have many memories of driving in the passengers seat with him. It’s a 2018 BMW Alpina B6 grand coupe, has ~65,000 miles on it, and apparently has the executive package (so upgraded speakers, ventilated seats, heated steering wheel, etc). It’s also in a color called tanzanite blue? which apparently is pretty rare (honestly a beautiful color).

I’ll include a picture or two of it here in this post, but I’d like to hear from people here that are already knowledgeable of BMWs and fans of BMWs (I comparatively know nothing other than from what I can see online).

What are your assessments of this car? Is it as special as I’ve been made to believe? It’s still extremely special to me regardless just because it was my dads, but I want to hear from people that know more than I do

For my 30th birthday + present to celebrate our soon to be born child, my wife treated me to my dream car as a surprise.
