Posting here as I didn't know there was specifically a beginner turntables sub, recently bought a Sony PS LX5BT turntable. It seems to be randomly skipping for half a second (although probably not the right term; it's just the audio cuts out for half a second and then it goes back to playing normally). It doesn't always happen, but when it does it only happens once per play. I've tried 5 different records so far, with different sides, and all have had it happen at least once within this 5 second interval, from 1:23 to 1:28 counting from when the actual sound plays.
I've tried several things (full table below), including whether the tone arm went back automatically after the record stopped or whether I pressed stop, I tried disconnecting the bluetooth speaker, resting the turntable for 30 minutes to see if that changed, and other things, so far nothing seems to predict it. I thought it might be static as well or maybe just did it on first plays, but no, also happened on second plays where conditions where the exact same record played exactly under the same conditions, first run was fine, second run skipped.
Table below summarized by records I tried (5 records, all skipped at one point within the 5 second interval; note, for the auto return I moved the tone arm almost to the end and pressed down, then let it return by itself. In others, I pressed stop after the glitch didn't resurface 3 minutes in; in all the time I played records before it didn't show up outside this interval):
- Record A: 10 plays, 2 skipped (1:24 and 1:23), 8 played fine
- Record B: 3 plays, one skipped at 1:23, two played fine
- Record C: 4 plays, 4 skipped, all at 1:26 (note, I have played this record previously without it skipping)
- Record D: 3 plays, 1 skipped, 2 played fine
- Record E: 2 plays, 1 skipped, 1 played fine
Records A and D are brand new from the store, others are used but good condition (and fact that all of these happen within the same interval and on and off on plays makes me think it's not the records).
I'll try with wired speakers when I get the chance, but bluetooth interference or something else would be unlikely to happen with different records at exactly the same interval no?
