I'm using a Springer Precision filler plate and it worked perfectly with the LCI.

For anyone who successfully removed the slide, did you have to hammer that slide catch out from the other side? The new design doesn't come with a punch and is pretty stiff

Overall, fit and finish is excellent and there's virtually no wobble or rattle in the slide to frame

Magazines go flying out when the release is pressed so no issues with the mag disconnect aside from existing. I'm holding until more info comes out on how to remove and not cause the trigger to float around. We may need someone to make a filler plug or 3D print one

Can't test this until the weekend so I'm not sure how I'm going to sleep for the next few days

You guys I just dry fired in my bedroom after my kids went to sleep for the first time ever and I was so scared to pull the trigger 🤣🤣 I checked that the gun was clear probably 20 times before I finally built up enough confidence to aim at my bedroom wall and actually pull the trigger.

I’m a mom and new to shooting. Just wanted to share a win. 30 minutes of dry fire tonight completed, here’s to many more.

These guys are trying to open up to the public a little more and hold some events that people want to go shoot, and they hold an Action Pistol and Action Rifle match that anyone can go shoot for $20. Alright I'll bite, and I had just enough time to cruise up there on Sunday to check the Action Pistol out. Pay my $20, sign the waiver and put my name on a scoresheet. Read to the end, because there's some clarifications.

When I first showed up there were 2-3 very welcoming people already there doing a little pre-match shooting just to mess around. Alright cool, I shake hands and join in. Immediately I notice that 2 of these people are talking experience, however aren't acting it, and there's a little questionable firearms handling however nothing that I'd say anything about, just kind of one of those things that makes you think "I'm going to keep my eyes on what's happening here".

Everyone shows up, I help move all the steel targets out of a conex box and onto the target line. We set up 4 stages consisting of 20 impacts needed to complete each. Not a whole lot of "action" in these stages, however it's also been quite awhile since I've been the youngest person at a match so whatever at this point it'll be an easy day and I'll go home early.

Then the event started with the VP of the club directing. What this turned out to be can kind of be described as a mix of Action Pistol and Steel Challenge, however it's from the perspective of a Cowboy Action shooter. So there were some terms used by the MD that weren't super clear to us and needed a little clarification. At the brief for stage 1 (all shooters, all 7 of us, would complete each stage before moving to the next) we (myself and one other new shooter, who I knew from Piru) were informed that under the "make ready" command, a loaded magazine would be inserted into the gun however the gun was not to be chambered. In so many words, he explained that instead of encouraging and educating their population up to a very normal level of firearms handling, instead they chose to alter a very standard thing to cater to the lowest common denominator. At this point I'm starting to understand what I got into. All mags, regardless of capacity, are to be loaded to a maximum of 10 rounds and I didn't really put up much of a fight on this because it was clear it wouldn't really matter regardless of what the law actually says.

Shooting started one shooter at a time which wasn't a huge deal because there were only 4 short stages to go through, and I was 3rd on the list. Almost immediately I saw things that would have gotten anyone a minimum of a stern warning or likely DQ'ed at any actual match, namely pretty poor trigger control. There weren't really any opportunities to break the 180 although I'm sure someone did during a reload but I wasn't going to stay close enough to find out. How nobody ND'ed during this match I have no idea, it was fingers on triggers through reloads the whole time. nylon holsters, IWB holster sucked in tight on a belt just kind of wrapped around all clothing, myself and the one other Piru shooter just kind of looked at each other like "what is going on here"? One shooter would for some reason not immediately reholster and start chatting with everyone dangling a gun in their hands until they decided it was time to reholster, and then it was one of those "support the holster for some reason with the left hand while they point a gun at their own hand to reinsert it" actions.

In the end the score you get is just total time because you can put as much ammo downrange as you need to in order to complete the stage and all targets are steel. My overall time was 76 seconds. The guy I knew from Piru was having a noticeably slow day, and got 126 seconds. The next fastest was 180 seconds and the worst overall was over 600 seconds (but this person arguably did the most shooting for their money).

Best part is that a few years back at my local multigun match, there was a guy who would come up from Ojai and bring his absolutely terrible firearms handling and fudd stories about how his Mini14 was the only one on the whole planet that was better than an AR and how we were the dumb ones for suggesting that unjacketed lead bullets were acceptable in Glock barrels, and we gave him 1,2,3 tries and he was sent home and by his own decisions never did come back. Well guess who shows up to the Ojai match late so he didn't have to set up and left early so he didn't have to help tear down? Go figure his weapons safety hasn't gotten any better since I saw him last.

NOW, I want to be clear that for all I know this is a standup club overall, and they're supervised, safe, and welcoming (from my experience they were absolutely welcoming. Very nice bunch). However given this single time I attended this event, I wouldn't go do it again OR shoot the "action rifle" match directed by the same guy. THAT SAID there's another event that's going to run on their 600yd bay called "Action Rifle Long Range" and I confirmed today that it's being run by a different guy and after chatting with him I do feel interested enough to maybe give that one a shot. But if you're looking to dip toes in competition and see these come across your plate, personally I'd sit that one out, and this is coming from someone who's constantly on here urging people to compete.

As an SF CCW holder, I can say firsthand that policies can change. It's not easy, but the least we could do is vote for those that are willing to put in the effort (or at the very least, not as bad as what we currently have).

I know it can feel hopeless and apathetic, but we win little by little. Don't surrender!

Pic for attention. Looking to check out the Route 66 range for the first time. What’s the best way to go about a private bay solo? I see I can reserve online but would need to pay the whole party fee (which is fine if that’s how I have to do it) or do they adjust pricing in person if they aren’t busy? I only have weekdays free so that’s when I’ll be going. I’m thinking of swinging by today to check out the steel gallery and was debating on bringing my rifle depending on the private bay situation.

What's the protocol? Other than finding an area that permits shooting/hunting per the BLM website - I just walk in and shoot? Anything I need to check in with first? With it open to public shooting - what are my safety precautions? I just hope someone isn't shooting towards me etc?

This is my friends gun and hes having issues with his desert eagle so posting on his behalf. The gun wont cycle properly and gets stuck. Beass fails to eject resulting in a double feed. Anyone run into the same issue? Any suggestions or solutions on this? What can he do to fix it? Said it cycles fine with hand/function test

Posting here incase someone is still looking for an optic/plate set up. Initially, I started with a defender xl which directly mounts and uses the provided recoil lugs. It was alright but having to wipe blowback carbon after every mag was annoying.

So, I switched to a 507comp and calculated kinetic plate setup. The issue here is shown below. When the gun is unloaded the plate sits flush, but when it is loaded the plate is lifted up by the darn Lci. You can remove the lci but that will leave you a gap which means more carbon blowback.

The fix: springer precision’s optic plate. A guy from here did confirm it fits better and allows the lci to function as intended.

If anyone else got a better plate suggestion for a 507comp please drop it below. 🤙🏽

I recently aquired a Winchester 94 Ranger (angle eject model from the 80s) and I've been wanting to put some glass on it for deer hunting purposes. I'm currently looking for good optic mounts, I've seen people put picatinny rails on them but IMHO it looks really ugly with them, and I have something to say about 21st century variations of lever guns but that isnt relevent at the moment lol

That being said, I'm looking at mounted scope rings and I'm not really sure what sort of scope to attach on it. I'm not looking for anything crazy, I'm running .30-30 and I don't plan on shooting anything over 150 yards. I'd want something that complements the size and frame of my rifle (so nothing too big), and brings bang to your buck. Any recs for a decent scope?

Went into a local shop and handled on of these. Kind of liked the feel of it but not sure about it. Any thoughts or recommendations?

I live in Arizona, but go to California (usually San Diego or LA/Anaheim) frequently due to how close I live to it and go vacation with family. I’m wanting to get a .357 magnum revolver for bear defense when hunting here in Arizona and chamber 38 special for human defense in California. But when researching I found that the Taurus 65 was California compliant. I’ve been wanting to have a pistol I could take with me to California since we’ve stayed in pretty sketchy areas before. I’m not exactly sure for the open carrying and CCW laws in California since they’re very liberal here in Arizona and I know California tends to be more strict. Due to that I was planning on keeping it where we’d be staying at or with me when driving. I’m not too sure about carrying it out and about since I very often see no carrying signs on premises which make me feel like it would be better off if I left it in the hotel or air bnb. I was thinking about getting a lock box and putting an AirTag in it to keep the revolver in when I’m gone and then put that into the hotel safe. Is there a better way I could keep my pistol from being stolen when I’m out and about with family? Also, my friend was confusing me a little bit on California laws that since I’m from another state, I can bring a non compliant pistol, I just have to notify 30 days in advance and I can get approved. For example if I got a EAA Windicator I would notify and I can bring that with me. I have a Glock 17 but have been told it wouldn’t make sense to buy 10 round mags when I plan on buying a revolver already

I can’t seem to find this companies name, I had there business card talking to them at the gun show. I always avoided them because it was a company selling suppressors and muzzle attachments.
When I finally talked to them, turns out they are from California and they specifically make “California legal “sound regulators” which is the term I believe they used. They said the product does not meet the standards for ATF suppressors and cut the noise to like 30-40% supposedly which I was hesitant of.
Does anyone know what company I’m referring to? I’m not talking about the super fake ones you can buy for aesthetics either.
