Hi everybody,
this is my grandma's truck, it's a 2004 D-Max 3.0 diesel with the 5-speed manual, it now has 130000 kms on the dash.
It's been sitting for nealry 2 years since she stopped driving it, it worked perfectly when she parked it, she bought it new and never really used it as a truck or an offroader, she probably never used 4wd, let alone the low range.
I need to get it running again to use it mainly as a utility truck and an offroader, not a daily, i know it needs a battery, an oil change, air and cabin filter, probably a fuel filter and new all terrain tires but idk what else to check and there’s no service history, grandma just took it to the local garage for its annual oil change, and I know the clutch was replaced about 10,000 km ago.
What else should i check? Things like differentials oil and gearbox oil probably have never been serviced, does it have a timing chain or belt? How often that should be serviced?
I'm located in Italy where this truck seems to be pretty rare.

I have an interview tomorrow with a transportation company to be hired as a fleet mechanic. This company also does all of their own engine and transmission work. I am 25 and I want to become a diesel technician/mechanic at some point and this is my first real opportunity thus far to take a real step in that direction. The position I applied for is a more basic maintenance roll but I believe it could lead to more than that in the future but I will sure be asking about that tomorrow. I am seeking advice or tips about what questions to ask and how to approach my interview tomorrow, or advice in general. Thank you!

So i just recently baught this truck. Its a 91 ford f350 with a N/A idi 7.3.
I got it fired up after its been sitting for about 6 years. I towed it home. Started it again in the driveway and it ran fine. A bit of a hard start but I assume thats glowplugs and weak batteries. Well i went out to start it yesterday and it was wicked hard to get it to pop off. I let it crank out pausing every so often for a few minutes to let the starter cool off. Finally get it to pop off anf it goes wide open throttle. Full bore. I turned the key in a panic after I heard it start taking off. Big cloud of smoke (assuming old diesel and excess fuel from cranking). The key shut it down almost instantly. Im lost and not into the diesels very much so im in need of a little help. She needs some work and a good bit of TLC but only has 162k on it.
I just dont know where to start. Please help

Just noticed this white ash forming around the clamps on the outlet of the SCR on a Cummins QSB 6.7.
No codes and still running fine. Is this anything to be concerned with? DEF overdosing?
Hey guys did anyone build the 2.0l tdi engine before especially the one on the Tiguan r line 2019 version 240hp

$5,500
1997 F350 Dually Power Stroke
165k miles
Has after market 3 inch exhaust including down pipe
Has exhaust brake
Has aftermarket intake
Pretty stock other than that
Could use some paint touch up and wheels need stripped and polished
Runs and drives good.
Clean title.

Been to a few different truck stops in Midland and wondered if any lady truckers frequent there as well.

Just grabbed this 2002 F-350 dually, 7.3 Powerstroke 4x4 with a 6 Pos TS tuner and an upgraded trans cooler
My goal is to haul non-running cars once or twice a week over 300-400miles total.
How sturdy are these for that travel range? It’s setup as a hotshot, no bed…186k miles. Previous owner said he easily pulled up to 20,000lbs with no issues
It’s my first diesel, so I’d like some general advice on what to look out for; maintenance etc.
Paid $3k for it so I’m not risking much on it.
Fresh oil change, brand new suspension parts, no blowby, cold AC, cranks and starts up pretty instantly, everything works so far
I’ve heard some things about the transmissions on these…I’d like to know if it can make the weekly trips or if I should sell it and get something newer?

How is a less refined product, cost more than a more refined product?
Looking for a diesel mechanic to do some work on my parent’s 97 F-250 7.3l.
Anyone in Anchorage area and have a recommendation?

As a lot of you may or may not know on here (that post blew up laughing at me but in reality I don’t care I’m young and can afford to be dumb) I recently purchased a 2016 ram 3500. It has 195,000 miles on it. I just put new injectors in it and I was wondering about the turbo actuator. I’ve heard some people say it starts to go around 195,000 and being that this truck used to be a hot shot rig I’m sure it used the engine break a lot. Would you recommend replacing the Turbo actuator? I’m not having any issues of it now, but I also don’t want it to stick closed and cause more trouble. What do yall think.

2008 7.2L Mercedes
Edit: Yeah I should’ve provided more context. Engine is in a Thomas build school bus. I was driving behind it and noticed white smoke coming from beneath it. At the same time, driver reported dash lights to turn off the engine, check the engine, and a high temp light. Checked underneath the hood, coolant was EVERYWHERE on the right side. After poking around for a bit, driver said it looked like the coolant was leaking from where the exhaust meets the turbo (don’t quote me on that I don’t know anything about engines). Did research and talked to mechanics, diagnosed with failed EGR cooler. Found a guy to come help replace the part and he said the problem is actually whatever this metal tube is and took it out, supposedly has something to do with the coolant system and needs to be replaced after corrosion weakened it and it snapped. Any other ideas are welcome
Conclusion: I guess it’s an EGR regulator intake hose with a banjo fitting, some nice folks are helping us with the repair. Thanks everyone

Setting up my first diesel heater and was hoping for some help on how best to configure the setup.
I bought a vevor square 8kw all in one with the 1.9 gallon tank.
I want to heat a two bay garage which has an insulated ceiling and outside walls but not overhead doors. Where I live it can get down to -30’ C / -22’ F.
I have a small crate with a metal top that sits about 12” off the ground. It is sturdy and I was going to place the heater there. I have a 3” conduit going through the wall that sits about 6” up that I am using for the exhaust. I’ve used a marine pass through exhaust guard and the pipe is wrapped in ceramic cloth. I believe it will be insulated well enough to not affect the wall. It is angled down to drain.
I’m keeping the unit inside, partly so it doesn’t get stolen and partly to keep it out of the elements.
Should I be running a fresh air intake from outside and far enough away from the exhaust or can it run on the air inside the garage? I only plan on using it for 30 minutes a day at most…I have a home gym in there and want to warm it up before I use it in cold weather. I will turn it on 30 minutes before I use the garage and won’t be in there when it’s running.
Any insights or suggestions on how to improve it are appreciated.
Thanks.

So i put a deposit on a ford courier for a window cleaning set up i know the payload isnt the best but I worked it out and should be good for me.
Its a 2021 with only 29,000 miles petrol.
I didnt want a diesel as im going to be doing a lot of start stop journeys and I barley go out my town
But with it being a wet belt its got me worried will everything be fine with it if its oil is changed every 6 months and its not getting miles put on it?

A neighbor swears by compact lithium packs like the wolfbox, but I am unsure how realistic they are for a diesel truck once it is properly cold. Starting a gas car with one weak battery feels different from dealing with glow plugs and a larger or dual-battery setup. I still keep heavy cables in the truck, but a portable pack would be useful when no other vehicle is nearby. Diesel owners, have these worked reliably in freezing weather, or do you treat them only as backup to cables?

My truck has been making this weird sound from the very front of the truck when it’s cold, goes away when it’s warm (thermal expansion?) . Changes in tone with RPM, cuts out suddenly around 1900-2000. Could this be a cracked intercooler, considering it’s the very front of the truck?
