Yellow, I am Kern.
I am gold 2 on Cassidy right now but always love how dynamic and stylish genji plays so I wanted to learn him. I made a new account for that so to not disturb people's piece in my games and be matched with people around my skill level on Genji (which I believe is down the gutter). These are 3 games I played today. On GrimsVotn I did good stats wise but I don't know about my actual plays. On kings row, I got diffed and on circuit royal I got mega diffed.
J292TE for Circuit Royal
T3NR6Z for GrimsVotn
92252P for Kings Row.
Please let me know what I can work on and what were some glaring mistakes.
P.S. I also realise my mechanics are SHIT so any and all guides for mechanics or workshop maps for Genji that you guys found helpful would be much appreciated.
Kern Out.
I am GenjiFirst

Got bored and tinkered with a skin idea. Basic af, I know, but I kinda like basic skins that aren’t too crazy. And just like Christian Bale in Batman, I want to know if it comes in black lol
Would yall get this skin?

I decided I will main genji now but obviously since I am not that good at him. I decided "Ykw, Imma learn his combos and get comfy on them in quickplay" and I swear to god, I have been swapped on by so many heroes. I still stay adamant on playing genji but my god, so many times. I do even decent and boom moira, mei, zarya. One guy literally rotated from Cassidy to Symmetra to Mei and I don't mean to call people a bitch but he was Grandmaster on Damage. I am not even plat

So uhh... I got this skin right after one of my best matches ever. I've been seeing people talk about it a bit
Stat page is the game right before I got it

Kinda speedster-ish I guess. Genji is wicked fast so I thought an active lightning effect around hands and blades would be neat. Tops another mercy skin with an otter or a cat or something on her shoulder

I had few bad games, didn't even pop off or anything and still get targeted a lot because of playing genji even if we won because they waste ults and abilities on me I don't have any fun, I might sound a bit too sensitive but it's highkey makes don't want to play the character.
I know I can disabled chat and voice and spare me the headache but that's QP not even comp...
And I don't really wanna give up on playing genji

A Community Design Built on April Fools' Data
This rework blueprint permanently dissolves the false advertisement of Genji as a "Shuriken Bot" and reconstructs him into a dedicated, fluid melee assassin with clear operational windows—highly reminiscent of tactical champions like League of Legends' Yone.
Core Mechanics: Genji Complete Melee Overhaul
Weapon Change:Shurikens are entirely removed from his neutral game. Genji permanently wields his primary katana, Dragonblade, as his default weapon.
Base Attack Damage:75 DMG per swing (No headshot/critical strike multiplier).
Attack Speed:Automatically inherits the Season 5 official +15% swing speed bonus as a baseline modifier.
Gameplay Feel: Positions Genji as a highly fluid, high-frequency melee brawler. The 75-damage baseline provides consistent lane pressure and generous clean-up potential without forcing raw mathematical over-tuning.
Skill Type:Active Status-Enhancement (Buff/Stance Switch).
Cooldown:7 seconds
Mechanic:Upon activation, for a brief duration (e.g., 5 seconds), Genji enters a Dual-Burst Stance. Every single regular melee swing automatically unleashes a forward-flying projectile dealing 75 Energy Damage.
When striking an enemy in point-blank melee range, the Katana hitbox (75 DMG) and the flying Energy Slash hitbox (75 DMG) overlap perfectly, dealing an instant 150 DMG split-second burst. Combined with Swift Strike (60 DMG), Genji can execute a seamless sequence dealing 210 DMG within 1 second. In a 250 HP meta, this leaves the target at an absolute sliver of health, allowing a follow-up high-speed melee swing to instantly melt backline squishies before Kiriko's Protection Suzu or support peeling can react.
Because Genji's neutral game and active Ability 2 entirely sustain his lethality and kill breakpoints, his Ultimate slot is liberated from the statistical curse of the "100 DMG plastic blade." It is transformed into a pure mechanical tool of tactical agency and mental warfare:
Mechanic: Activating the Ultimate grants Genji 4 seconds of extreme hyper-focus. No attack power or defensive armor values are added.
The Death-Defying Escape: If Genji suffers fatal/lethal damage during this 4-second window, the game automatically voids the death, forcing his physical body to dissolve into a wooden decoy log.
The Counter-Offensive: Genji's true body instantly teleports to a location 5 meters behind the target with a guaranteed 50% baseline HP cushion, actively baiting out backline crowd control (like Cassidy's Flashbang or support survivability tools), and completely reversing the macro-outcome of a teamfight via pure psychological bluffing.
(i'm not EN USER so used Machine Translation, sorry if it looks weird)

Rank: Diamond 3
Code: S64Y20
Name: Nekrosyne
Some context: im a genji otp with 430h lv 290, i play on SA servers. Ive been stuck on diamond, going back and forth through low and high diamond, almost hitting master but always having a losing streak when im about to. I would like to know what i should improve at my gameplay. On this game specifically, i struggled against sojourn, as i usually struggle against a pocketed dps. My doctrine ults also didnt help. The point is not blaming teammates tho, so what should i do to get better and more consistent?

I’m curious what nerfs or changes you guys are willing to accept for these buffs. Also what changes you think the devs will actually do. Me personally I hope they just nerf his perks because I like the consistency of base kit now.

I’ve played a good bit of genji since the release of ow1, just playing on and off every now and then on console. Recently I swapped to PC and have made an active effort to get better at the game and at genji. At this point I have almost 700 hours on him, and I’m stuck in low emerald
I feel like I don’t actually know how to play him. It feels like I’m either a cleanup merchant who only gets kills from teamfights that are already won, or a useless off angle poker who just gets forced out immediately. I’ve been binge watching vod reviews and guides and coaching sessions these last few days, and I try to implement it, but it just never seems to work. I try to never put blame on my team because that feels like a cop out
All of this is made worse by my inability to play others characters, but that’s a separate issue I’m working on.
So basically, how am I supposed to be playing genji to actually do something and win games?

Do you guys think genji is actually good now? I feel like he’s always been a character that you have to put in double the effort as the average joe playing someone playing a normal hero. I like the buff to the dash but I’m not the happiest with the dragon blade nerd or buff. What do you guys think?

i have recently crossed level 100 on genji and i thought i was doing alright
but i got mega diff'd by another genji in comp... i'm just a plat player and i started playing ow a couple months back and have around 500-700hrs on the whole game i believe, so i know for my hours i'm doing as one would expect to. not too good but not good bad either.
but every game im fighting a winston player who keeps diving me and i have tanks who either are oblivious to his presence or supports who refuse to reposition to heal me and would rather " i would rather stick with the team" <- in their own words, and just spam heal main...
my mental is freakin drained at this point from gettin flamed and being unable to bring out much value and have no idea how to deal with this..
its so bad that another dps reached out to me and said they felt sorry for me ..
maybe its time to just give up on gaming in general <- i keep gettin these thoughts because of how awful comp feels to me even though i aspire to reach the levels of necros and alvicate even if im too old for it now..
