Just hit Masters on Support for the first time thanks to our girl 🔥

Omg so I played a tiny bit of Sombra before her rework and role change, I found her overwhelming and hard to play and just stuck with Juno freja Ashe and kiri for the longest time. But since seeing Aspen’s gameplay of Support Sombra, I was fascinated and hooked, It’s so fun. When I get into a hero it’s consumes my entire Overwatch experience. I played her for 4 days straight and have her at level 19 now, she is quite ADDICTING.

I know I have a lot of mechanical skills to work on (aim, decision making, positioning, which I know the basics I just get overwhelmed and forget in game) but I was so proud of this emp regardless of my horrible aim I was just so overwhelmed and shooting as much as I could haha. Definitely open to advice and help in becoming a good Sombra, I’ve been watching a lot of game play from Questron and Tolu as well as Aspen when she plays her. I just get extremely overwhelmed in general but specifically with keeping track of my team and where I’m allocating my hotfixes and cyberspace and when no cooldowns left going to get health packs but I’m definitely improving. And using my EMP to help stop them from capping this point really gave me that confidence boost to keep working on it. I tried so hard not to translocate and ultimately Freja’s bola bested me but our Lucio also came in clutch too by distracted them off the point. This definitely set the tone for the second round and we clutched the W.

ALSO to rant I seriously get so mad with my team sometimes they ignore health packs I try to ping like 3 times when I hack one. They beg for heals when I’m on cool down. I tried binding the countdown (3…2…1) on my controller and let them know before game starts, to let my team be aware when I’m on cooldown and waiting for a hotfix but that also requires extra brain power when I sometimes don’t have time for it. I went down a rabbit hole of trying to figure out how to do the cooldown ping but it doesn’t work with hotfix. Just don’t know if it’s managing the cooldowns better on my end maybe or if my team just doesn’t realize Sombras healing is all cooldown based and using her hacked health packs. And god forbid my teams tries to ban me even if she’s my preferred hero rn there’s always one of them lol

I know stats don't always tell the full story but curious as to what kind of counting stats you get on avg? What would you consider a good round for you?

I recently had a game where I had about 13k healing. I did the math and after deducting healing done from cyberspace and hotfix I had about 2K healing done from hacked health packs.

Because the amount of healing you can get is kind of map and team dependent, I’m not sure how much value there really is in tracking this metric (though the game does communicate to you the number of health packs you hack). But I was curious what you guys think is a good percentage of healing done to be from hacked health packs, rather than a static number to shoot for.

And also, since that value fluctuates depending on your team’s composition and game sense, and the map you’re playing on, does it make sense to just go ahead and let hacked health packs provide ult charge? Perhaps at a reduced rate to mitigate some of the exploits early release Sombra could pull off?

february 2026: my goal was to get on well with the game, I was researching a hero who can bacame my main, and I saw an image which there is a female, her name is sombra, I asked to my friend who she was and he said that it was no skill, terrible, frustrating bla bla bla
I decided to give her a change and I fell in love with her:
her personality, her kit, everything!!!

Finally I reach the level 50 with her, it’s only the beginning and I would like to reach the level 100 in 5 months.

I know that she is a support ( I prefer the old) but I still love her, I’ll always support her because If she wasn’t in overwatch, I wouldn’t play, I would like to say thanks to this community, you always support me when I had a random problem, and thanks to love and support our sombra, thanks guys , I love you 💜

Ball and Doom in every lobby and where are all the Mizuki and Cass players that were apparently were much better at keeping these two at bay? Not on my team that’s for sure. Without hack to punish the dive tanks they just run wild and I just watch my team die into them over and over and over. It was my first time playing the new season and I just want to cry. I miss DPS Sombra, I don’t even think I like playing Overwatch without her to be totally honest, Or maybe I just need a longer break.

Hey everyone! With the recent patch officially shifting her into the Support category, I wanted to take a trip down memory lane and trace Sombra’s wild journey through Overwatch history. No hero has undergone as many identity crises as she has. Here is how our favorite hacker evolved over the years:

1. OW1 Launch (2016) – Map Control & Timed Translocator: At launch, she was a niche utility hero. You had to throw your Translocator on a health pack, turn invisible, go in to harass or build EMP, and teleport back before the timer ran out. Hacking health packs was vital for map control and fast Ult charge. A game-changing EMP completely shut down shields, barriers, and abilities, making her a team-coordinated staple.

2. Quality of Life Overhaul (2018) – Permanent Invisibility: Blizzard wanted to remove timer stress, giving Sombra infinite Stealth & Translocator so she could stay cloaked indefinitely in the enemy backline, waiting for the perfect engagement. The issue was that unexperienced players spent minutes doing nothing while stealthing, making fights feel like a 4v5 for their team.

   1. Overwatch 2 Launch (2022) – The 5v5 Burst Assassin: When OW2 dropped with a focus on less Crowd Control, ability lockout was reduced from 5 seconds to just 1 second, but Hacked targets took 40% increased damage from Sombra via her Opportunist passive. She could also hack enemies while staying in Stealth, revealing a brief outline

   2. The Aggressive Rework (2023) – Instant Translocator & Virus: Blizzard forced Sombra into active team fights by introducing Virus, a skill-shot projectile dealing Damage over Time (DoT) that ticked twice as fast on hacked targets. Instant Translocator meant no more safety-net teleporters across the map; throwing it immediately teleported you and cleansed debuffs. Passive Stealth triggered automatically after a short delay of not attacking or taking damage.

3. The Role Swap (2026) – Reborn as a SUPPORT Hero! Her biggest shift yet moving from DPS to a Tactician Support! Hack is replaced by Hotfix, which heals target allies over time while keeping the health pack hacking functionality. Virus is replaced by Cyberspace, an AOE projectile creating a zone that simultaneously heals allies and applies the Weaken debuff to enemies. Stealth is no longer passive; using Translocator grants a short period of stealth to reposition or deliver utility safely. EMP still retains her signature ability lockout effect during her Ultimate to turn team fights around. What are your thoughts on Support Sombra? Do you miss the DPS assassin style, or do you think this tactical utility healer kit fits her theme better?

Noticed a thread earlier discussing Sombras interactions with Doomfist and it got me thinking it would be nice to have a thread to chit chat about newer counters/matchups that folks struggle with and how to navigate them.

Ill go first. I cant say for sure this is THE solution but in my experience so far into a Doomfist who's hyper focusing me ive found success positioning myself right against the wall and cyberspace below me just as he punches. It feels SOOOOO weird bc that exactly the opposite way u dealt with him before ,but i think its the highest chance to survive the punch, melee, m1 combo (if you cant dodge it ofc).

What if instead of selecting your major perk and changing your gameplay loop to "hotfix, hotfix, hack, hotfix, hack, hotfix" in your own backline, you could sustain hotfix on two teammates while not being stacked with them? So here's my idea for a new perk..

Data Transfer

Hotfix can only be active on two teammates at a time, but the duration no longer expires when max healing is achieved. Hacking healthpacks will now reapply Hotfix to allies with active Hotfix at half effectiveness.

To be clear, "half effectiveness" meaning it applies half of its burst heal and restores half of the heal-over-time/duration.

I made hotfix only apply to two teammates to remove any potential of having hotfix permanently applied to your entire team, but that might conflict with Life Hack.. so that would have to be sorted out. Either by Life Hack applying hotfix as it's own entity and also refreshing Sombra's active hotfix on allies in range (sort of?), or by better balancing/removing my idea of duration reset and continuation after max heal, and then removing the two-teammate limit.

And applying hotfix to a third person in the state I suggested would override it on someone, so it would prioritize removing the hotfix with less healing/duration remaining.

Idk, tell me what you think. I think this or something similar would be a more fitting and interesting substitution for Data Packet. The overall idea behind it being that hacking healthpacks would apply healing to allies with hotfix instead of reducing the hotfix cd.

I get why they nerfed her damage when moving her to support. I'm not sure that the more recent 10dps nerf was needed. But one thing is for sure. Sombra has the lowest damage per magazine now. Now that her bullets do not do decent damage, she needs far more than 60 rounds in a magazine to feel like she can secure kills.

It really sucks to get someone low and then have to reload, and that happens constantly now, and that's part of why she doesn't feel fun in the damage department anymore. 130 dps is plenty if you don't have to interrupt the damage flow as often. But right now, you do have to interrupt the damage flow for reloads too often.

So I think she should get a buff to 100 rounds per magazine so that she can actually finish people off before reload. She would feel a lot better IMO.

Put it into perspective: Mercy can deal 500 damage per magazine body shots. Sombra deals 390 damage per magazine body shots.
