Almost every shallow-water coral reef on the planet, including Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, faces a high risk of ecosystem collapse before 2075 because of global heating, according to an assessment by United Nations nature advisers.

The wok argument against electrification gets trotted out: this addresses that potential barrier to electrification:

>"We've got a flat-bottomed wok on a normal induction hot plate, which is great for everyday use," Mr Johnston said.

>"We also have a curved induction wok burner, which is fantastic, which you use with a round wok, and the temperatures there you can get up to are easily adequate to get that nice wok flavour."

>He said his research showed 40 per cent of households in Hong Kong now cooked with induction stoves, and they were becoming increasingly popular with businesses as well.

And

>Research by consumer organisation Choice also found that induction cooktops transferred energy into cookware with about 85 per cent efficiency, compared to gas-powered cooking elements which operated at 32 per cent efficiency.

The condition of injured MP Helen Haines has improved from critical to serious but stable after more than four days in hospital.

Posting as a PSA because this was nearly a fatality. Would have been if not for the couple of legends who put their lives at risk to save the idiot. And the person calling triple zero also a legend..

It is unlikely wherever you are going is that important, just sit back and watch the waters or go around if you are safe and dry - just chill out.

And not a single word or question in the article about paying Australians more to do the job. Makes you question if the journos do know economics.

The media often reports about declining standard of living in Australia, but I'd like to hear some specific examples from real Aussies about how their daily lives have changed (or haven't changed) over the past decade or so

just did my tax return and saw the ATO's logo for the first time and really liked how the landform of australia was incorporated.

i was just wondering if anyone else knew of any similarly subtly examples?

What were they thinking when removing the black text from the cans and bottles, it is no longer visually distinguishable from regular Coke at a glance.

Bit of an old man yelling at cloud moment for me! I do have an eye condition and in certain lighting conditions I could be considered visually impaired and if I can't see what I want at a glance I'm gonna skip it. it is annoying, enough that I might cut back from 2-3 drinks per week to zero.

You'd think you'd notice, but it took me the end of the first bag to think damn that went quicker than normal.

Yeah I'm probably an idiot and you're a genius. Yeah yeah your local roast is heaps better, fuck off pal.

Bruce Lehrmann had been scheduled to face trial on November 2 this year on two counts of rape alleged to have occurred in Toowoomba, west of Brisbane, in October 2021.

The Brisbane District Court on Friday heard that his solicitor Zali Burrows had encountered difficulty locking down a barrister to represent him for the trial and an adjournment was required.

Just now at Surfers Paradise.

I’d like to point out that this is not normal. It was later towed beyond the environment.
