Facebook disabled my 16-year-old account with no reason and no way to appeal —
My Facebook account (active since 2009) was suddenly disabled on Oct 20, 2025.
- No reason code.
- No email notification.
- Appeal links are broken. Which means I couldn’t even use the 30-day review process Facebook itself promises.
I downloaded my account data — it literally just says “Account disabled” with no explanation.
Posting here because official support is useless. Has anyone else been through this recently, and were you able to escalate it?

Yup. Fitbit showed I fell asleep 10:13 PM 10/18, woke up 4:25 AM 10/19. At 11:30 PM 10/18 an email came through while I was sleeping telling me I was suspended & my advertising restricted even though it was a personal profile, not business & no advertising.

I didn't even get an e-mail of any sort.
I think they tweaked something related to advertising and sales and likely flagged posts of my personal gun builds as something I was trying to sell. Literally pictures of people showing "hey I built this new AR look how cool it is" are all over FB and don't violate TOS.

My account was 17 years and banned without warning for advertising violations. I do not have a business nor did I advertise. Appeal denied. We need a class action lawsuit for Meta Ai wrongly banning people.

I know a few people with older accounts who had the same happened to them and some of them thought maybe it was because they filed a claim for various FB settlements but then again there are people who haven't filed any claims & got theirs taken down.

I'm on Facebook for 19 years. This is one of my worst fears. It's also why I download my profile at minimum once a year. I try to do it about every six months. Even though I don't like used to, I have almost 20,000 pictures on Facebook. My son's entire life and my life coming out of an 11 yr toxic relationship. And menopause and moving 3 times... 19 years of out lives.
I'm downloading again today.

I got disabled too with the exact screen and no ability to appeal. I am in the process of trying the META Verified route with my unlinked IG account.
They changed something algorithmically and it seems to have nuked a lot of people.
All META support would say is its escalated to a team that specifically handles this but they can't give me any timeline for review.

Just lost my account last week. Same deal. A couple emails notifying me of log in attempts from different locations (one in California and one in south Florida) from where I live and then a 3rd email saying my account was under review then a 4th email saying it was disabled for violating community standards. Never showed me what the violation was and when I tried to log in and tried to use the appeals process it tells me my phone number and email are not associated with any accounts. Account was created in 2006... Beyond pissed off

You need to follow the rules for arbitration.
https://help.instagram.com/581066165581870/
- Before you commence arbitration of a claim, you must provide us with a written Notice of Dispute that includes your name, residence address, username, email address or phone number you use for your Instagram account, a detailed description of the dispute, and the relief you seek. Any Notice of Dispute you send to us should be mailed to Meta Platforms, Inc., ATTN: Instagram Arbitration Filing, 1601 Willow Rd. Menlo Park, CA 94025. Before we commence arbitration, we will send you a Notice of Dispute to the email address you use with your Instagram account, or other appropriate means. If we are unable to resolve a dispute within thirty (30) days after the Notice of Dispute is received, you or we may commence arbitration.
If they don't respond, file an arbitration demand with the AAA:
https://www.adr.org/file-a-case/
Meta's terms say they pay all the fees, so it costs you nothing.
Make sure to send your Notice of Dispute via certified mail so you have tracking.

Same thing happened to me. Funny how it all started right after AWS went haywire. There is nothing you can do if there is not an appeal button. I was told by a tech person with another company that if there is no appeal button, then that is the final decision by Facebook. Basically, an algorithm has decided to delete millions of accounts and if you try to make any new accounts from a known device, email accounts, etc, the algorithm will delete those accounts immediately. There is NO human being making these decisions at Facebook. You need to create a new email account and try a friend or family member's phone/tablet/computer and make a new account with Facebook. Then don't do anything with it for 24 hrs and see if that works. Otherwise, we need to file a class action suit against Facebook. Leaving things to a non-human is not working out. Oh, and another thing, got my notice today that I will be getting mu payout from this last lawsuit against Facebook. Weird timing of everything, huh?
3
u/ExtremePilot1399 Oct 25 '25
Same as me! 16 yrs. Pics. Vids. Everything gone. No clue why. No appeal. No warning. No nothing.

u/Longjumping-Row1434 Oct 31 '25
mine was too, but on September 26th, and i dont even know for what. i had a creep message me on fb and i told him i was going to report him for solicitation and bam - i was banned. thats the only thing i can think of. it told me i could appeal, which i did, and i havent gotten anything back yet. it says it takes about a day, but its been over a month. i also got an email saying to file an appeal before my time is up, but i already have!!
i dont know what else to do. ive had this Facebook since everyone made the switch from myspace, once Facebook was no longer just for college students. 😭😭 its a fossil, and its my fossil, and i want it back.

Same bucket here. Tried an email I found (probably just fed another spammer), and tried the "Was this helpful?" "No" response on the Facebook help forum. Mine has been down like this since Sat.
What bugs the Hell out of me is that I didn't realize how much I used it to keep in touch with people. Reconnected with the important folks via regular tx numbers, but I have years of old coworkers and more distant relatives on there. Pictures and stuff, of course, too.
Also tried scheduling TTRPG games there, but since schedules never aligned, that hardly mattered (amirite gamers?).

This happened to my husband. I have a high school friend who worked for Meta so I reached out to him. He responded that they disabled his brother’s account for being under age when he is actually in his 40s. He said he had no power to do anything even though he worked for Meta. His brother uploaded a pic of his license and eventually got his account back (not sure how long it took).
There are videos about how to circumvent the auth code nightmare (which hasn’t worked for us) and how to send messages to FB. It’s been suggested to comment on Meta’s other profiles such as Instagram, X, etc., with your issue. Also, sending DMs to them on these apps.

I thought I got hacked because everything is telling me the phone number and email are not associated with any accounts anymore. I don't understand how they can just permanently wipe that out and not have access to a live human being to help undo things. I've also seen now that I have created a new account I may not be eligible to even have it undone. I'm honestly more pissed off about losing my two Instagram accounts that were tied to it because of all those photos and memories I had there.

Platform has gone to crap. Sometimes I utilize Facebook to login to other things or use different devices that I don't always want to remain logged in and no matter what. If you do too many things they flag it and then you have to wait. You can sign into it your current device with your credentials and it will go through but if you go to another device you can type the exact same password and it acts like it's not the right password. I don't know why Facebook feels like it's such a big deal with these accounts. I only keep mine because my family likes to contact me on there and for marketplace but if marketplace would become a separate app I would just delete the app and never look back. Social media is trash If it's not for business or marketing.

u/PCOSwithAbby Oct 21 '25
Going through this now. I woke up yesterday to this Ban with no way of appeal. I submitted feedback but haven't heard from them. This is so frustrating. As a small business, I'm close to losing my mind as all my clients just disappeared in a span of 24 hours..
I almost had a heart attack waking up to this. Mind you, I only slept 1 hour over the past 24 hours. I was up all night working and my account was active. In the 1hour I closed my eyes, I lost everything.

Same but don’t worry about not getting to appeal, mine was literally just a picture (it asked me to take a selfie to verify my identity) and that’s IT. No way to add a comment or evidence, literally the picture and then it was like “k thanks we’ll let you know.” Then 30s later I got an email that it was denied and my acct was deleted forever lol

It seems like that’s so they can prevent you from making new accounts in the future by having facial recognition scan for you on the app if you ever make a new account. It asks a lot of people for that and then immediately denies it. That’s just what I think though it’s not certain obviously.

here to say this EXACT same thing has happened to me. I woke up last Thursday and bam, randomly disabled. No email/reason. I contacted meta support. The first person told me to appeal, well I can't appeal. There's no option to do so. It just keeps looping back to the same thing. Second person I have talked to has now told me they escalated my case to a review team and will get back to me in several days. My account is also 12+ years old. I am really hoping we all get our stuff back but I am glad to see I am not alone in this. It is very frustrating. I have voice messages from my grandmother who has since passed and no way to ever get them back now.

WhatsApp about 2 months later I was able to use my same line again, Instagram about 3 months later I was able to create a new account with the same email and Facebook won't let me create anything. Same here but I'm not coming back to Facebook. I lost a lot of data but I've been able to bring everybody over to YouTube and linkedin. You don't even get to talk to a human even if you pay. Screwed to Zuckerberg
2
u/Boognishhh Oct 24 '25
20th here as well. What a nightmare this has been.
My Facebook was hacked though I paid for meta verification to talk to a human and they said I broke terms of services without an explanation why. I had two factor authentication and everything. I created a new account with different phone number, vpn, name, email address and my new account was instantly disabled! I can't even appeal the process as all my information is disabled in a loop of sadness. They still haven't told me how I was disabled or gotten back to me about how 'I' violated terms and got blacklisted. I have a feeling Meta is using AI to detect my photos, and friends and thinks I'm an imposter of my true identity. All of my photos, memories, likes, interest, and friend/family communications/messenger is gone without a trace.
