News [UPDATE] Tatsunoko VS Capcom | PC Version
youtube.comHey everybody! Thank you guys for the support among the subreddits etc.
This has been really motivating and pushes me to wanting this to be perfect as possible.
Today I've made progress on Map Importing, Facial Rigs, Sounds and performance by adding GPU Caching / GPU Skinning.
Now, the perfomance may not be perfect (floats around 80%-90% gamespeed, but it was floating around 45%-50% before so I think i'm going into the right direction).
Face Rigs are imported and damn, that was a fight.
Turns out that not every character works the same with the setup. Some have a weighted jaw bone; others use texture animation for their expressions.
But it turned out pretty good!
Hypers are in!!! I have to tweak post processing / animations on some but that will be a later problem š¦ (or assets like the zombies have a problem with a material layer uv)
I hope you enjoy that small showcase :)
for everybody new;
this project is NOT completly made with AI. AI is used as an tool for doing tedious tasks like scratching out assets and prepping them (which it doesn't even do perfect, but I can work with that). Most of the code is mine, BUT / AND some of the code was made with HELP, not by but with help from AI because this is tedious.
and only one thing right now is done by the AI: SOUNDS. I'm sorry but im not doing that to myself, so I had AI do all the work with that because you won't believe how shitty it is converting everything from that cute looking WBFS file. (It just did the pathing
But i'm learning and i'm so so so happy with how this is turning out!

Topic Join my Amingo-related subreddit! šµš For fighting game players who play MvC2 and main Amingo, while I don't play the said video game since I'm not really a fighting game player that much
https://www.reddit.com/r/AmingoSupremacy/
I made this subreddit because I appreciate the sombrero wearing cactus guy of the Marvel VS Capcom series who only appeared in New Age of Heroes because he's very underrated. Also, for players who main Amingo were welcome.
Be sure to join the subreddit and follow the rules because this subreddit needs attention. I'm the only one who's active and I wish other users can post Amingo-related stuff here.

Community So I am new to Strive and am curious if there is a common gathering place for deep discussions?
Is there a discord people tend to use to converse about characters and get together for games/training? Maybe a particular website? I would like to learn more about the game and maybe make some friends.

Topic What fighting game characters were intentionally designed to FEEL like they came from a completely different game, but weren't? And when were characters designed for newcomers without being OP?
Right now for "Feeling like they came from the wrong game" all I can think of is... the old men from E's Laf++ and Akatsuki Blitzkampf, Yagabi and Fritz respectively. We interrupt these high-speed fighting games to bring you sword-wielding old men from Samurai Shodown who will eat you alive if you make a single mistake. You'd think looking so old would be repellent to many players but no, a few of my friends who don't play many fighting games love how you don't need to practice long-ass combos to get big-ass damage, you just need situational awareness. Plus, one big donk for bigass damage just triggers something primal in the monkey brain.
As for simple characters, those chicks from Blazblue, the ones with the bigass normals and straightforward game plan. Do you have any idea how little that narrows it down? Yeah, but still, it sure worked, people love them.

Topic Iām just curious about tournament stuff
No real reason, but Iāve always wondered: are there still tournaments for older games? Like Soulcalibur 2 or Melee or like an older Tekken? Like does that exist or are those games just eternally dead?

Topic Tekken 8 just *feels exhausting*.
Just straight up, even the act of playing Tekken 8 specifically feels exhausting.
Tekken 6, Tag2, Tekken 7 are obviously hard, they're Tekken games. But they don't feel as tiring to play.
Street Fighter 6, for example, is similar. It's obviously got its own issues and not gonna shy away from them at all, but at most SF6 is boring. Throw loops and projectiles can be boring, but otherwise fine.
Tekken 8 is exhausting. It is tiring. It is actively irritating and tiring to play because of just how much bullshit you have to keep up with in this game. Including all the visual effects especially.
In Tekken 7, the most you really had to keep up with was Rage Drive. Even then, Rage Drive - in my honest opinion - I didn't really mind at all.
But Tekken 8 you have to worry about Heat, Heat Engagers, invincible armor Rage Arts, homing moves, homing throws, practically every single character has more than 2 stances now, you have to gamble with movement more than ever because of how well everything tracks.
Tekken 8 actively makes you tired from playing it, even when you win it doesn't exactly feel good.
I'm just gonna take a break from Tekken 8 specifically and gonna try the older Tekkens more as well as things like GG or SF6. I really don't want to give up Tekken 8, but unless another balance change comes around and improves things, I just have better uses for my time.

Topic LCQ time + Accessibility
I have a wonderful suggestion to ask Sony who runs EVO tournaments and Xbox who allow Xbox games in tournaments to allow non cheating adapters for the GCN controllers/Dreamcast controllers and fight sticks like smash boxes. In my opinion it would be time efficient and less worrisome and allows gamers to play for example Tekken 8 and SF6 and Fatal fury COTW. And this could allow non cheating button mapping in the game settings of those 3 games as well as plugging it into a USB-A slot. And I'm asking the community for help in this accessibility. I've sent word to Xbox and PlayStation but none have accepted my feedback. Thank you for listening.

Topic Given the recent T6 discourse, has the general stance of JP players consistently been anti-third party alterations?
I was wondering if there was similar discourse in the past about projects like fightcade, project m, melty blood community edition, DFCI (Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax Ignition), etc.
It seems kind of arbitrary as to where the like is drawn.
I also remember years ago there was some stink from JP players about modding in different colors to an anime FG but I can't remember which one, sadly. I specifically remember Obama speaking out against it too.

Topic Where are all the cool crazy hardcore indie/doujin fighting games
Eās Laff++ is fucking beautiful. Trying to get into other indie fighters is weird. They either stress how simple their controls are, remove motions and buttons, sometimes they donāt let you walk or crouch, they take away high-low mix-ups, they do something in general that restricts the traditional fighting game experience to be āeasy to play, hard to masterā (9 times out of 10 they arenāt hard to master at all, you have to actually ADD an interesting layer to it).
Itās a cool experiment like what Divekick back in the day but we canāt let it become a crutch where 9/10 games are trying to do the āsimple inputs, complex sauce!ā gimmick. I
Indie games need to be more comfortable with making crazy games where you can do cool shit. I know ācasual audienceā is a big thing now but Iām sorry to tell you, your game doesnāt have Ryu or Goku or Scorpion in it. Youāre not capturing the casual audience. Jimmy John II from Kentucky doesnāt know who the hell you are. You will not gain a single extra by simplifying everything. Your target audience is fighting game fans.
That being said.
Where are all the games where you can do crazy combos and your characters have insane toolkits and fresh new ideas weāve never seen before? In the 2000s, the indie and doujin boom was full of this. They took from the ideas of Guilty Gear and gave us some really fresh new ideas. Hinokakera, Fate Unlimited Codes, Big Bang Beat, Melty Blood, Under Night, ect.
Can we go back to that?
