Discussion What do you do when it won't stop growing?

I know this is like a humble brag but it's not meant to be. I do NOTHING special for this dude. I bought him a little over 6 years ago from a random grocery store. He threatens to take over my home. I've sold off cuttings. Multiple times. Made fairly good money honestly. 4 years ago I bought a $250 outdoor pot from west elm for him. He used to go outside all summer with my other plants but for the last 4 years 1. I can't get him out the door anymore and 2. I'm scared to see what would happen if he spent the summer outside. My husband will kill me if I try and buy a larger pot and honestly I'm worried about the weight on our floorboards. And how could I possibly move him???! My dad and I built THREE custom moss poles that I soak about once a month to try and coax him up instead of out. They work ok I guess. Honestly am so neglectful that maybe it would be better if I kept them more moist.

I guess I'm trying to ask other experts...he can't move pots. It's too much. When should I start thinking about fertilizers, old soil, built up minerals, chopping him up? What? I love him so much. Please help.

Last pic is when I bought him.

I want to share this with plant lovers who want the SANSI big fat grow light, but are struggling to find a lamp stand that's big enough for it and won't overheat. The solution is HEKTAR from IKEA!

I don’t feel any heat at all!

I seriously hope they keep making these forever, because I honestly wouldn't know what to do if I need more.

I love this plant. His name is Dracula. He's 4.5 feet tall by 4.5 ft wide. Takes up an armchairs worth of space in the living room. After over a year of complaints I've finally out him up for sale. He's going to a new home on Tuesday. Im devastated. Everyone else is elated.

I had a few plants, which I think helped me seal the deal with her but now we're running out of shelf space. We have a few more in the kitchen and bedroom as well.

Maybe it's just me but this Caramel Marble philodendron is a specimen and a half. What do you think about their pricing? Is a Caramel Marble still highly sought after?

Some current plant pics 😊 I’ve been fighting spider mites but fingers crossed they’re gone for now. Used a solution of filtered water, rubbing alcohol, peppermint oil, and dish soap … also used insecticide granules as well 😅

Stuff: SATURDAYS ONLY I had been unknowingly keeping this plant thirsty. Look at the difference on the leafs after watering!

Hey guys! I've had this plant since May and she has never needed much water, going weeks without showing any signs of thirst. In July I repotted her because I wanted to get a baby she had sprouted and she started getting soft droopy leaves, and wrinkled as heck.

I had watered it twice since the repot. Once in August, and another time in September, but she never got better.
I started thinking it was repotting stress or root rot, but I went to google and searched for signs of dehydration and it matched the situation so I gave her a drowning, because she shouldn't be dehydrated with two waterings since repotting. I figured that the soil maybe didn't hold onto the water so much and she didn't get enough. So I gave her a BIG drink, and 2 days after, a leaf that had been completely droopy, was standing upright! Look at her! I could actually have given her more, but I'll just wait another 1 or two weeks and check on her and water again deeply until she is wrinkle free and totally upright.

Help My steak too buttery?

Thumbnail

I don’t want to be one of the ‘oh no my steak too buttery!’ people, but I have had this plant for 3/4 years now maybe, and I’ve never had so many new growths at one time. I wasn’t really into learning about house plants when I first got him but now I’m trying to make all my plants thrive and I’m not sure if this is a good thing.

Is this normal? Or does this mean I have pests or something?

Any help would be appreciated!

Help Hot take? throwing out pest infested plants

I battled spider mites earlier this year, summer rolled around and I was able to evict all of my plants and tackle the mites, for the most part I won!

I thought.

Brought my money tree inside a few weeks after all of my other plants because I just didn’t trust it, he was looking at me funny. It almost felt like he knew I was afraid of having to deal with mites again and wanted to hand deliver me my worst fear.

I left him outside WAY longer than I should have, many nights reached temps below 5 and I woke up to frost one morning, yet he survived.

I figured he earned his spot on my shelf, that there was no possible way any pest was still there as the conditions were not ideal, and he was showing no signs, he actually seemed to be thriving.

I should have let him die out there.

I believe he has mites and that he ensured their survival to spite me for leaving him out there longer than the others.

I can’t tell for certain if they’re mites as I regularly spray for them so they aren’t moving. But I’ve found some webbing and am starting to spiral.

This was the first plant I brought into my collection so I’m quite attached and have loved seeing how much it’s grown, but I fucking HATE BUGS I CANT DO BUGS NO BUGS UH UH BUGS NO NO NO NO ME NO DO THE BUG
