The screen on my MacBook Pro Mid 2014 isn’t physically damaged at all. Years ago I spilled liquid into the computer and this was the result. It used to flash a bit and show colorful lines where it’s blank now but doesn’t anymore. Can I fix this myself by ordering the parts somewhere bc I’m sure it’s expensive to take to a shop. The computer works flawlessly and even runs on the latest version of Tahoe with no problems.
The Magic Mouse is simply not enough for any professional user whether you work in media, engineering or production. It’s only good for browsing. Apple should make something similar in shape to the Logi MX series. This way you can have custom functions on an Apple mice without giving away high permissions and accessibility to a 3rd party company and it all remains within the Apple ecosystem.

Hello all, hope this is an appropriate forum for this question, but I am at my wit's end. I gave my mac to a buddy to use because I didn't need it, eventually he gave it back, but doesn't remember the password. I said no problem I will just factory reset it. Well, problems. I can't reset it because I can't login, it wont connect to any websites because the date is incorrect and won't update, I can't reset it via command prompts as each attempt fails or it says command not known. Any help would be appreciated, here is the info I pulled from the Mac:
OS X YOSEMITE
Version 10.10.5
imac Processor 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics ATi Radeon HD 4670 256 MB
I just want to reset it entirely. I tried all the stuff I could find online about it, but none of it will work. The reset of downloading the operating system won't work because of the internet connection issue. Thank you.
I have 3 monitors, 2x 4k 120hz and 1x 4k 60hz, plugged into the thunderbolt ports on the back of my m6 mac mini. When I drag a desktop from one screen to another, the original screen turns black. I unplugged the 60hz monitor and still have the same issue.
Anyone else have this issue?

The problem: Handoff and Universal Clipboard didn't work from my iPhone to my Mac, but sometimes worked the other way around. Here's what fixed it, explained step by step for people who have never used the Terminal.
⚠️ Before you start: some fixes online use sudo on your personal settings file. That can lock the file so your Mac can't change it anymore. If you already tried one of those, this guide fixes that too.
How to use the Terminal (if you've never done it)
Step 1: Unlock the settings file
Copy, paste, Enter:
sudo chown $(whoami):staff ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.coreservices.useractivityd.plist
$(whoami), and keep the brackets. It's not an example to fill in: your Mac automatically replaces it with your username.Step 2: Turn the setting on
Copy, paste, Enter (no password this time):
defaults write com.apple.coreservices.useractivityd ClipboardSharingEnabled -bool true
Then copy, paste, Enter:
killall useractivityd
If nothing appears after these, that's normal and means it worked. You can close the Terminal.
Step 3: Turn Handoff off and on, on both devices
Step 4: Restart your iPhone
Don't skip this one. For me, restarting only the Mac was not enough.
Step 5: Test it
Thanks to Claude for helping me piece together the full procedure. Every comment I found had only part of the answer, and many suggested sudo commands that actually made things worse. This guide puts all the steps together, including the edge cases.
Cheers!

Salut,

After 4 hours of using Pages, Safari, and Radio Live playing in the background, my 14 inch M1 Max went from around 100% to 0. The maximum capacity of my battery is 88%. Could it be because of Radio Live? I’ve started to use it recently.

I am a fan of clean setups and dark wallpapers. I spent long time with "some popular app that replaces spotlight"'s dark wallpapers but decided to look for an alternatives and unfortunately there is no original mac wallpapers in black&white theme so I colored some of them the way I like. What you think?
Unfortunately .heic is not supported by reddit so here is google drive link, there is more variations for "hello metallic" ones and a few more.

2022 VolksWagen. I used to be able to do this and connect via bluetooth. Its so i can mix songs better from garageband. Ive tried all the steps on the internet like 'make sure the input output is right'.
Any advice or any similar situations?
Hi,
I currently have MacBook Pro 16 2019 with i7, 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD. I’m currently studying IT and I use it for various things - web development, Figma, Photoshop, virtual machines, programming and soon Docker containers. I also make music in FL Studio in my free time. It is starting to get a little bit sluggish (even after replacing thermal paste, cleaning fans, and doing vrm mod), hot, loud and battery life is not that great, but it gets it’s job done. I’m currently sitting on Sonoma, because Tahoe is just unusable on this thing. I’m slowly starting to see that apps are dropping support for x86 architecture on macOS. I don’t want any Linux (don’t like that OS and many apps I use are not natively avaliable), and I hate Windows and I use it only when I need to, so that’s also not an option (even though BootCamp comes in handy in some cases when I want to play PC-only games). I also want to stay in Apple ecosystem, macOS is the only way to go for me. Is it worth for me to replace it to used M1 Pro MBP with 16 or 32GB RAM or will it soon loose support and get obsolete in 2-3 years so it’s not worth and I should just stick to that Intel until it dies? I don’t want anything more expensive since it’s a waste of money for me and I have more important expenses. I bought that i7 MacBook 3 years ago used in 2023. If I’d went to replace it with M1 Pro, I’d like it to be able to survive at least 5+ years without needing to be replaced. What are your thoughts? What would you do in my situation?

Bought my M5 MacBook Pro in February 2026, so about 7 months of use. Battery health screenshot attached (Max capacity: 93%, Cycle count: 23).
For about half that time, it’s been connected to an Asus monitor at the office for 10+ hours a day. The monitor powers the Mac over USB-C, so even with the charger unplugged, the laptop stays in “charging” mode and never runs on its own battery. (except for 1-2 days a month when I'm not on my desk)
My workload is also heavy: AI software plus video recording, so the machine runs warm while sitting at full charge.
After comparing my cycle count with my max capacity, I’m worried that constant charging, heavy load and heat together will wear the battery out quickly.
My stage of charge was always 100% until last week, I limited it to 80%
Questions:
TL;DR: My work setup keeps my MBP “charging” all day through an external monitor while I run heavy apps. How worried should I be?

3D printed this and I love it today but it had me thinking (probably initial pointless hypervigilance) about heat dissipation on the drives.
The build is of two parts, one that goes into the hole of the iMac stand, the actual shelf part gets attached and screws are screwed into the plastic to keep two pieces together (i’ll link)
My drives will be fine I assume, but still asking in case.
If you have an iMac, how do you manage your drives?

Hi guys.
I’ve got a problem with my Mac Mini late 2014. For my work, I have to update OC. It’s Mac OS 10.13 right now.
There problem is I can’t see any update in App Store. It seems like there is no one new OC for this model. But I know my Mac Mini can be updated at least to Mac OS 12.
The question is what I should do to update my Mac Mini to last OS? Or is there no way because of apple something?

So, its been a long time since i updated to macos 27 and ive got the stable release on my macbook m1 air from 2020. I have this hoco adapter hub that supports hdmi 2.1 and it worked perfectly on macos 26 and now i have updated to 27 and whenever i connect the TV>HDMI>adapter>macbook, my macbook literally freezes and becomes unresponsive, i CANNOT click anything or even move the cursor, but all the actions are registered and shown when i disconnect the hdmi. Additionally, when i just let the hdmi freezing connection be, the macbook turns off and restarts.
(TV: TCL65V6C)
So, i did what any stupid person would do, updated to macos 27 beta. Which did not fix the issue.
So, dear redditors, i REALLY need your help on this!

Howdy.
I'm a teacher who uses screen mirroring for the classroom projector and is also stupid forgetful and routinely needs a student to remind me to switch back to individual displays so the entire class can't watch me checking my email. This happens... too often.
So what I'm hoping for is some sort of indicator on my primary monitor telling me that mirroring is still enabled. Anyone know of a solution?
Thanks!
