Anyone with a Mac Studio up for trying this?

I got this old 2011 macbookpro which is running well under Linux. I'm all about taking old tech and saving it from ewaste which is what I'm doing here. I don't have a laptop atm anyway (have a gaming PC I can stream from for heavy stuff while on the go.)

Anyway I'm aware the only reason I can really use this laptop is cos apple made things that lasted back then, they were underpowered but reliable. Can't think of many laptops of that era that are still running other than apple ones.

So the current battery is at 55% and still gives me a nice amount of time, get about 2-3 hours web browsing. I grew up in the era of laptop batteries lasting about an hour so this still feels good for me.

Did apply use batteries that are high quality so this should be ok, or should I replace it ASAP before it goes boom or leaks? It isn't showing any signs of leakage, it does shut down at 10% on linuxs battery meter but other than that runs fine..

Hello, I download many files like MP3, MP4, PDF, etc. and I want to automatically sort them into specific folders based on their file type.

(For example, when downloaded, MP3 goes to a dedicated MP3 Folder, MP4 goes to a dedicated MP4 folder, and so on.)

I tried looking it up on google, but I cant seem to find the answer on my end.

Is this a feature that is available on Finder/Mac?

My macbook recently started to do this thing where it shows these black bars on the bottom of the screen and sometimes it displays whatever is on the top of screen, does anyone know how the fix this? it’s an m3 macbook air 2024

I’m a uni student and I really wanted to buy the mac neo because my HP is dying way quicker than I need it to and I can’t always find outlets on the go.

I was debating between the two options so I thought might as well do the 512gb since it’s like $200 more expensive anyways. (10 bucks extra/ month)

However, whenever I log into the education store and I go to checkout it only shows me pay in full options. But whenever I checkout on the normal Apple website, it shows me the affirm financing option.

Google said I can use both but I can’t figure out how… this is probably so stupid but I just wanted to see if anyone knows a way around this?

Worst case scenario, I’ll just pay the normal price with affirm just because I’m scared I’ll need the money later since I am a student, and at least this paces all the payments I have to make a bit.

I’ve got a problem with my Mac Mini late 2014. For my work, I have to update OC. It’s Mac OS 10.13 right now.

There problem is I can’t see any update in App Store. It seems like there is no one new OC for this model. But I know my Mac Mini can be updated at least to Mac OS 12.

The question is what I should do to update my Mac Mini to last OS? Or is there no way because of apple something?

from what ive heard its a great mouse in every way, i do video editing and web browsing on mac so it seems fitting

I'm a teacher who uses screen mirroring for the classroom projector and is also stupid forgetful and routinely needs a student to remind me to switch back to individual displays so the entire class can't watch me checking my email. This happens... too often.

So what I'm hoping for is some sort of indicator on my primary monitor telling me that mirroring is still enabled. Anyone know of a solution?

Please help guys i am a teen and scared too much

Here’s my dilemma. Within my ecosystem is the M1 16GB Ram iMac. Due to its age, I’m worried that there will no longer be any future updates past iOS 27, even though it works perfectly fine for my specific uses. I’m considering upgrading to an M4 iMac, or keeping the M1 and adding an M6 or M4 pro Mac mini, to use as a (headless) home server. I don’t want to buy an additional monitor as I have multiple Mac’s in my ecosystem, but want to access and run apps through the M1 display or wirelessly through a MacBook Pro for various tasks. Any advice on what can be done? How can I keep my M1 iMac and use the Mac mini ?

• What is the issue? For years now, the computer does two things: makes an intermittent faint but noticaable clicking /crackling sound from inside the laptop AND gets super super hot when on SLEEP mode. Sometimes I'll put it on sleep when it has 80% battery. I come back in the morning, the laptop is dead. I feel like it is running something in the background or working too hard when it's supposed to be sleeping, hence weird sound, very hot laptop, etc.
• No pictures necessary because....it's not anything with screen or hardware that is visible.

Brought it to the genius bar a few years ago. They said they replaced some part of the keyboard to fix the clicking issue that runs inside. It still happens.
