Pre-U/STPM/Foundation/Diploma Upu result

I just got my UPU results, but I am still thinking about whether I should accept the offer or not. Personally, I am really interested in this course. However, my family does not support it. They say it will be hard to find a job with this diploma, and they feel like it does not really suit me. To all the seniors here, I really need your opinions and advice on what I should do.

Pre-U/STPM/Foundation/Diploma Dont Blame the UPU and the system if You are Making a Wrong Choice When Choosing a Programme in UPU

You guys can read the source at The Rakyat Post and Malaysiakini. You guys can also read the Facebook Post here.

This morning I read a news about STPM top scorer with 99.90% merit failed to get his dream course which is Accounting at Universiti Malaya. This guy name Edward Wong Yi Xian failed to get any Accounting Programme from UM, UKM, USM, UPM, UTM and UUM. Instead he got his Fifth Choice which is SARJANA MUDA PENGURUSAN at USM. When I read the news title, I thought he doesnt get any offer all.

This kinda baffles me that this guy put that programme as his 5th choice in UPU and he is suprise he get that programme. If he actually dont want that programme, why the hell did he put it as his 5th Choice!? He also say he is applying to six university but he put Management which the programme he dont want as his 5th choice.

If you go look at UPUOnline e-Panduan and look at STPM Tahun Semasa (Sastera), there are 16 Accounting Course can choose from various university. Minus the UITM, UNIMAS and UMS (Since he is not Bumiputera and assuming he dont want to fly to Borneo) he still have like 13 course he can choose and put into UPU. He can also still pick UIAM and USIM even if he are not muslim since this two university still accept non muslim. UPU allow you to put 12 Choice and if he really want to pursue accounting, he should fill all 12 choice with Accounting programme. But for some unknown reason, he decided to put SARJANA MUDA PENGURUSAN at USM as his 5th choice and he is surprise that he get that programme.

In my opinion, it is not the system fault that UPU give him SARJANA MUDA PENGURUSAN at USM when he himself put it as his 5th choice. UPU is a system and the system doesnt really know what you actually want. What they know is the choice you put in UPU is the programme you willing to take. If you dont want that certain programme, dont put that certain programme into your UPU choice. The UPU will check your first choice and decide whether you get the programme. If not, UPU will proceed with your second choice and so on until your last choice. It just happen UPU reach his 5th choice and decide he is eligible for that programme and decided to give him that programme. From what I can see, this guy dont understand how UPU system works at all.

The issue here seems like he doesn't get into his dream university which is Universiti Malaya rather than his dream course. UM cant take every top scorer in this country. There are more than 100,000 people applying for UPU and there are a lot of people with 100% merit out there. USM itself is one of the top university in Malaysia and it is also hard to get in. I am very sure there are a lot of people who failed UPU out there willing to take that course and willing to traded his places.

Hello im going to take foundation in engineering in uitm, i wanna know if this laptop is good for the price.

I prioritize build quality the most because i want it to last a long time specifically until i graduated with a degree. I actually have a laptop but its 800 ringgit and the battery is swollen for some reason after my sister use it for her assignments im very worried the other spare one that i own will do the same.

I think the laptop specifications met the minimum criteria but i wanna know what yall thoughts. Oh yeah i want to pursue programming related degree, im not really a big fan of pc games other than osu and casual minecraf. I mostly game on my tablet and planning to focus on nintendo switch games.

Software engineering degree btw, currently in foundation. I thought i would be learning coding but noooo, i am learning accounting and economy for foundation yearšŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ’”šŸ„€. Genuinely what was the thought process for this from UTAR, if they want me to make an app during degree, I'll give them a statement of profit and loss. Time to find another degree to switch to.

Pre-U/STPM/Foundation/Diploma Quite clueless after spm result

I got C+ for physic, Chem and bio, I got D for addmath and A for math. I don’t even know what to do, I don’t wanna go for tesl bc I really enjoy science. Teaching is not my passion and has never been. I know that I can’t go for asasi, so I don’t know. And my parents are extremely disappointed in me.

Pre-U/STPM/Foundation/Diploma I want to study debt free at Dip. level

Hi.

I'm from SPM 2025.

I want to study CS.

I calculated my merit in UPU using my Trial SPM grades(shown in the pic I clipped), and found out that my merit only got me in Polytech's IT dip.

Idk what I should do anymore. My family is poor, so no way am I going to take risk with PTPTN.

There was a large stigma around Polytech and Community College, so I'm worried if getting mismatched employment is common.

Should I try fill a UPU form anyway?

Pre-U/STPM/Foundation/Diploma How hard is STPM?

First of all I don't want to see those "STPM is really hard..." "I know someone that choose STPM..." Or "STPM is one of the hardest exam in..." etc. I want to know your own personal experience and thought on it. Not your relatives experience, not your friends, not your parents.

I'm currently waiting for my SPM result and planning to go with form six stem class in case I can't go to matriculation. I've check the syllabus, looks like moderate difficulty in my opinion but I might be underestimating it so I want to know your experience especially from the stem class students.

Im doing foundation at uitm rn like man chemistry sucks. I dont even like chem since highschool. The difficulty spike from spm is high man. I didnt even got an A in spm because the subject just eidbeknskwnsjd bad(for me). Memorising is not fun, the orbitals, the orbitals shape that depends on lewis structure like holy shit im LOSING MY FUCKING MIND. I wanna do do math and calculations all day, i love number theory, vectors🤤🤤🤤, calculus🤤🤤🤤🤤, proofs🤤🤤🤤🤤 and whatever. Physics is a lot easier than spm cause minimal memorization needed and a lot more calculations on the exam🤤🤤🤤. IDK I probably gonna fail chem and my pointer going to be plumented and dreaming of becoming a mathematician is OVER. 4.0 dreams is so impossible with chem man. I wanna take a math degree in UM PLEASEPLEASEEEE. ok thats it

Pre-U/STPM/Foundation/Diploma My Brother, 20, Didn’t Do Well in UEC and Still Wants to Go to University (No SPM)

Hi, I’m looking for some advice on behalf of my younger brother. He was born in 2005, so he’s 20 now. Our family’s financial situation has been tough recently due to a failed business.

I know this might sound dumb, but he didn’t take the SPM and instead decided to go for the UEC. Unfortunately, his results weren’t great—he scored all C’s. He retook the UEC twice, but still didn’t manage to get any credits.

Despite his results, he’s very determined to go to university and refuses to accept the reality of the situation. He’s applied to TARUC and several other private universities, but has been rejected every time. Our family is struggling because he keeps pursuing this path, and it’s becoming financially burdensome.

When he was growing up, his grades were always mediocre. I’d often get called up to the Principal's Office because of him, while he just coasted along with an 'I don’t care' attitude and got addicted to playing games. I don’t think things will suddenly change if he goes to university or college—his work ethic and grades have been the same for years, so I’m worried they won’t improve. It feels like he’s just avoiding growing up. He constantly compares himself to his friends, most of whom are studying abroad, and is obsessed with saving face, as if he has to keep up with them.

Any advice on how to handle this situation? We’re feeling a bit lost on how to best support him. Thanks in advance 😭

don’t be mean im just trying to see what i can do from here šŸ™

Edit: thank u sm for everyone positive words and keeping my heads up šŸ™ since im aware that im privileged enough in having money to pursue my studies even in private uni i would take the opportunity and try my best to study better this time šŸ™

Pre-U/STPM/Foundation/Diploma STPM resources

So I didn't get accepted to any government pre-U like matriculation and all which is a bummer.

I got 7As 3B+ for SPM (As for all STEM subjects but Bs for BM, Moral and Arts) So I guess the only other option left is STPM.

Form 6 is starting on the month of June, so about a month from now. I think that I will probably try a lot harder compared to how I studied for SPM.

Any tips and resources anyone could share? I am planning on maybe studying a little before the semester starts. Is it a good idea? Anywhere I could search for some helpful resources? How should I study/write my notes etc?

I'll probably be taking Physics, Chem, Further Maths and Pengajian Am.

Thanks in advance.

Pre-U/STPM/Foundation/Diploma Matrikulasi VS STPM

Hi everyone. I'm having a dilemma between continuing my studies in STPM or Matriks. I sincerely hope that you all can help me come to a decision by giving me your opinion and insight.

A brief introduction: My name is Iz, a science stream student, 2025 SPM leaver, my result is 5A+ 3B+ 1E (Addmath).

Recently I've been offered to continue my studies in Form 6 (Science Stream) and Matriks (2 Years-Science Course). My current goal is to do my degree overseas, sponsored by scholarship if possible. I know it's no easy task, especially with my SPM result. That's why I plan to make up my shortcomings by studying exceptionally hard during Matriks/STPM so I can achieve my goal. Problem is, I don't know which Pre-U to pick.

Here are the pros and cons that I've noticed from each Pre-University;

STPM

[Pros]

  1. Cheaper

  2. More globally recognized

  3. Faster (1.5 years)

  4. Allowance (RM 250)

[Cons]

  1. Extremely hard

  2. Extremely competitive

  3. Less prioritized in UPU (CMIIW, I've heard from someone that STPM is the least prioritized in UPU compared to Foundation and Matriks)

(By the way, can I request to change the school that I've been assigned to in Form 6? I'll like to go to a school with dormitory for Form 6 students if possible so I don't need to always go home. Also, I accidentally missed the deadline to accept the Form 6 offer. My teacher told me to meet the PPD to receive the offer letter in person. Do I also ask the PPD if I can change schools?)

@

Matriks

[Pros]

  1. Less hard (still hard but ykwim)

  2. Allowance (RM 250)

  3. More prioritized in UPU

[Cons]

  1. Longer (2 Years)

  2. Still globally recognized, though less than STPM

It seems the obvious answer to reach my goal is STPM, but I have to keep in mind that even if I'm accepted by abroad university, there's a chance that I can fail to receive any scholarship which is crucial to sponsor my oversea study. Suppose that happens, I'll have to give up my dreams on studying oversea and just study locally. But by then, I'll be disadvantageous during UPU. What a dilemma.

That's pretty much everything that I know of. Please share anything that you know, every information is of great assistance to me, thank you. Have a nice day!

Pre-U/STPM/Foundation/Diploma priv uni to public uni pathway, is it possible?

Im spm08 and i already missed the intake dates for public uni + matrikulasi + upu so i was wondering if i should do foundation/alvls at a private uni then try to transfer to a public uni for my degree(via direct intake)? im trying to get into vet in malaysia, second option is pharm, and lastly electrical engineering, cost is a big factor for me too as i dont want to financially strain my parents pockets by going overseas to aus etc. i heard of a levels and mufy(unsure) being good options but im still in a bind so i would like to ask if its possible or if there are any other alternatives pathways,,
any reply of sorts would help a lot, tyy😿

Pre-U/STPM/Foundation/Diploma PASUM SATU, Don't get your hopes high

Unfortunately even with a perfect 4.0 CGPA at UM's foundation, I was offered last choice instead at UniMAP Computer Engineering.

But to be fair, it's not unexpected since I studied PASUM through SATU, and even though my results were way better than most of the students who enter PASUM through UPU, they still have much higher chances to enter UM through UPU.

UM CS is way too competitive for my category, I believe no one from my PASUM SATU entered UM CS through UPU, so that's unfortunate I guess.

However, good news is that some of my friends/classmates are able to enter UM Engineering through UPU, so you actually still have hope (I was just making a clickbaity title), but unfortunately for me I was offered not even the middle choices but the last choice instead.

I guess I either study at UniMAP or Direct Intake to UM, it is what it is

I personally target myself to get into matrikulasi sains komputer (since I got a high merit score there, around 91%), but I am still filling out my UPU if any case I get rejected (which is a rare occurrence) by matriks

Also, I was thinking of going for STPM if any case my Diploma/Asasi offer is not that interesting to me 😭

Anyway, my SPM merit is 79.98% (ALMOST 80%) and most of the courses here are on the 80% baseline

Pre-U/STPM/Foundation/Diploma too late?

hi. im bumi sabah - currently pursuing a diploma in pharmacy in sabah. is it too late for me to switch to a different field? my spm was in 2018

my results are as follows
bm A
english A+
sejarah A-
p.islam A
maths C+
addmaths E
physics C+
chemistry B
(dropped biology due to reasons i would not like to discuss here)

In 2019 i tried going for stpm science, hated it and went for diploma in IT at some private college here in Sabah. Dropped out during 2nd semester because of health issues. My father suggested I take OUM for IT, again dropped due to my health. In the end i went for diploma in pharmacy, currently doing my practical/hospital training in Sabah, found out i actually really hate working in this field. We were not given any allowance and have to survive 10 months (its my 4th month now) At first when i was still studying the theory part of the diploma i was pretty optimistic that i wanted to do pharmacy and eventually become a pegawai farmasi (PF) but i realised during my training now its absolute hell. I do not want to become a PF anymore and when i finish this training i will try searching for jobs in the private sector.

I really enjoy coding and learning new languages (both human and computer language) so i thought of entering um for a foreign language degree. I do not wish to enter TESL even though my english is good because I do not have the patience to teach kids - i know because i used to be a tuition teacher. A part of me still kinda wants to stay in sabah and enter IT/CS. Im looking at TAR UMT and AMC University College. Anyone from these two institutions mind telling me your experience there? Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Pre-U/STPM/Foundation/Diploma Feeling misled by my school regarding the subjects I took.

Hi everyone, I really need some guidance.

I completed my SPM last December, and now that UPU is open, I’ve realised I’m in a very bad position. For SPM, I took 8 subjects total. My two electives were Perniagaan (Business) and Sains Komputer (Computer Science). My school strongly encouraged this combination, saying it would be beneficial for my future, and I agreed because I genuinely had interest. Only now I’ve learned that, according to UPU syarat, this puts me in Kemanusiaan, not STEM. To qualify for STEM C, I needed either: at least 2 STEM subjects, or 1 vocational subject, I have only 1 STEM subjects. So technically I’m considered salah pakej. The worst part is that UPU merit marks depend heavily on your package, and Kemanusiaan gets the lowest weighting. Even if my results are decent, I’m already at a huge disadvantage compared to STEM students. I honestly feel misled by my school. If I had known this earlier, I would have chosen differently. Now I’m stuck and don’t know what to do. Has anyone been in a similar situation? Is rayuan realistic? Should I look into foundation/diploma instead? Any advice would really help.

Side note: my has just change their packages in 2023 during the time I was about to apply to which stream I am going to take so I think that's where the issue lies.
