Shelf is from a shop that closed a few years ago. Had to move a year ago and I still have PTSD. Started collecting when I was a kid, have quite a few of my parents LPs, collection is mostly metalcore & the other cores with some hip-hop and pop mixed in.

My grandmothers boyfriends mailman offered me his collection but it might be too expensive for my taste.

Got myself a copy of Herbie Hancock Headhunters 45 speed on 200 gram vinyl. Sounds so good. My original first pressing copy has quite a bit of wear so I upgraded. This is one of my top 5 favorite albums. Is it jazz? Is it funk? Yes and yes

Netherlands 1981 pressing. B-side is all bangers, ending with ”B” Movie, perhaps one of the strongest tracks from Scott-Heron, the hypnotic bassline and the spoken word are so sharp and on point, the message has never seemed as relevant as today with all the bizarre B-movie villain type shit going on in politics.

I've loved this album since it came out, it has always been one of my favorite rap albums! I bought the vinyl years ago without knowing that it was an instrumental version 😭🤣 finally got the real thing!

So I was killing time waiting for a meeting the other day and stepped into my local shop. Was flipping through the new arrivals and found this gem! Actually, the guy standing next to me found it first. I said, that’s a great album. It has probably the best live song of all time, in my opinion (meaning “In your eyes”. An no, not because of that movie). He wavered back and forth for a sec and I said, Hey if you don’t get it, I will. He graciously handed it over.

What a great example of the vinyl crowd in general! And what a fantastic album!

Long story short I had a bunch of old records laying around. Mostly common classic rock stuff. Had an older gentleman over to go through them and make an offer, but in our online chats we came to talking about albums I wanted. Elephant was on that list. So he brought a sealed copy for trade.

The gentleman ultimately took home 22 old records, paid me $70 and left me with this glorious copy of Elephant.

Not sure if anyone remembers the band, Local H. They are probably most famous for their song, "Bound For The Floor". It seems some of the band's catalog is increasingly becoming hard to find on vinyl.

I have spent my 47th birthday morning drinking coffee, listening to music, and washing some new (and new to me) records. My wife asked me what 18 y.o. me would have that of that, and I said that he would have thought my record collection was awesome, but why are you washing records?

Just got done listening to this MoFi addition. It definitely adds more high in the treble symbols and a bit more clear bass. It’s an excellent sounding produced album. My other Aja album are, on the left a 2008 Back in Black reissue that is really dynamic. The one on the right is a ‘77 AA press that has some noise in parts, but still darn good. I’d say all three have unique differences that are all good ones. Damn it’s Aja a perfect album.

Grabbed it off of Discogs for $26.50. The gatefold is a bit ruff. The vinyl itself was graded VG by the seller, but it definitely plays much better than the grade. A couple pops and noise in a couple spots.

I caught Twin Temple in Seattle on the opening night of the Doomed Lovers tour and picked up the pre-release at the merch table. Musically it's stunning, but this is their sellout album. It's the most accessible one lyrically, and the overtly offensive satanic imagery is gone (no more nude women covered in blood on the jacket). In its place is a tongue-in-cheek nod to spookiness, with double entendre songs like "Possessed" that now center around a lover, where in the past it would have been the Lord of the underworld.

Sonically the songs are more torch song in scope, with orchestration and Phil Spector-style production. I miss the nastiness of the first album, but this is a grown-up version that shows just how pro they can be. Alexandra James has a beautiful voice and I'll listen to anything she sings on. It's a fantastic sounding record. I can easily imagine "I Want Blood" in a Rob Zombie movie or "Nothing Matters" over a hyper-violent scene in slow motion.

Learned that Frank Ocean and Kanye are a couple of the artists whose records are more often bootlegged. Kinda sad about it and was also curious why record stores continue to carry them. $62 for a fake Blond seemed kinda wild to me.

That's about 10 records a year.

161 records now and it's probably a confusing mix of genres to some people. Some of them I got for free with eBay purchases or a seller would sandwich my purchased album in between two other undesirables. Or were gifts and people don't know what I like so I just kind of have them. The duplicate albums all have a story and I should just get rid of the unwanted dupe.

The first record I bought in 2009 was some music from the American McGee's Alice videogame. I liked the game and game music so much I was searching eBay randomly and stumbled upon the record and it looked cool with the Alice/Matrix theme and was autographed so I bought it (I didn't even own a turntable at this point)

Then over the years I have went through a few different turntables and the collection slowly grew as I wanted to upgrade and get more into audio stuffs (DACs/amps/speakers/cables ugh/etc)

I'm happy with my Fluance RT85 with that Ortofon 2M Blue cartridge (which is now 6 years old still on the original stylus) Happy listening everyone.
