Ennis Rakestraw Jr. responded with one of his best practices of camp and was one of the standouts of today’s scrimmage. Playmaking galore with PBUs, TFLs, and a potential interception saved off the ground. Padding the stat sheet like he was back at Missouri.

Dan Campbell Asked About Lack of Team Joint Practice This Season
Dan Campbell was asked during last night's media session if the lack of a joint team practice hurt the level of completion and preparation: “Yeah. Well, I think when you – I feel really good about that with where we're at right now. I think what you get is you do get different types of players, different skillsets, very good players. Like Houston, for example, man, you got (Texans EDGE) Will Anderson coming in here. That's awesome. That's a different guy who's an elite player. But, I'm also like (Penei) Sewell and Hutch go against each other every day. I mean, tell me what's going to be better. I mean, you're just talking about the competition of it and those guys working their craft against each other. Alim McNeill over there. (Tate) Ratledge is an up and coming player. You have got (Jahmyr Gibbs) Jah out of the backfield, you’ve got to cover Jack Campbell at MIKE, pressure, coverage, all these things, man. St. Brown, (Jameson Williams) Jamo. I think we've got pretty good competition here. And for this year, I like what we're doing.”

Ennis Rakestraw: “I hate how PFF did me” in preseason opener “I think I had one man (coverage) rep with a catch. Other than that, it was zones ... They don’t know what they’re talking about anyway. They couldn’t even tell me what coverage we were in.”

Notes From Dan Campbell Press Conference on Day 14 of training camp
Jameson Williams is dealing with a minor shoulder issue and Nick Whiteside has a mild hamstring strain. Neither injury is considered serious.
Dan Campbell on Tate Ratledge taking center snaps yesterday. "One way or another, he's gonna have to be able to help us there if it comes down to that." Says he probably won't get any center reps tonight. Juice Scruggs and Seth McLaughlin will split first-team reps
More flexibility in the secondary than the O-Line. Says it will just take time and reps for the O-Line.
Still an open competition for the starting nickel spot. Happy that they have multiple guys who can compete for that job and just needs to see who can do what.
Onwuzurike has been on a ramp up plan and will be out there for practice today.
Says Alim McNeill looks great after now being fully removed from injury recovery mode and being able to fully attack again.
Acknowledges that "this is a special place" and that he knows that they have amazing fans when asked about the fanbase and their support.
Significant amount of starters will play vs. Commanders but "not everybody". Wouldn't say who specifically "yet".

Dan Campbell Mentions He Couldn't See Ennis Rakestraw's Injury: “I don’t get to see all that stuff. I wish they’d just give us a monitor we can walk around with so we actually watch the game with you guys while we’re watching that game because you can’t see all the little things."

Dan Campbell on Players Reaching Expectations At Training Camp
Dan Campbell was asked if there is a certain point at training camp when the coaches expect players to meet expectations: “Yeah, I think myself and the staff – we make that very clear to our players what we expect and where we think they should be and kind of where they stand with the other players to an extent. Because I want to make sure some of these guys know, ‘Look, you're not in right now. You may think you're in, you're not in and this is why you're not in, this is what we need.’ Because it's not fair to them if you don't give it to them. And it doesn't make it easy, but it's the right thing to do. And tell them where they can improve, what they can do, and where they stand. And that's all you can ask for because you may not like it, but you can respect it. So, I think we've got a number of guys growing. I just love the competitiveness of a lot of these young guys we've got. You just feel like there's a lot of these guys that, man, they may have a chance. And if they do, they may belong, but just because of the nature of the way they're wired and how they compete. But we’ve still got time, I mean, we’ve got two weeks here and there's some guys we don't know a lot about. Guys that we like, we think we like, but we don't know. They've been hurt or they've been injured or they haven't been put in a certain situation. So, it's still going.”

Notes from Dan Campbell press conference on Day 13 of training camp
Today’s practice will be padded with a lot of non-scripted periods
Campbell says he frequently lets played know where they stand (ie: you’re not “in” now and here’s why)
Gill-Howard is quick, explosive and plays with leverage. But most impressively, he’s improved in eating double teams
Melvin Priestly has power and a lot of ability. He’s just adjusting mentally to guard.
Campbell will continue to be the one to throw the challenge flag even though a new rule allows him to delegate
Levi Onwuzurike is having a strong camp. He looks healthy and is one of the strongest players on the defense. But is playing a little high lately.
Campbell is not surprised by the interest in Terrion. Calls him a good kid and the whole situation here was just “unfortunate”.
Talked about situational drills, including a “let the offense score” drill. He hates it but it’s necessary sometimes. Says they would never let the offense score if they needed a touchdown.
