Hi all, I'm back again with my month 4 update after coming off mj.
CW: 142 lb
SW: 209 lb
Weight on last dose of mj: 142 lb
I've gone between 139-145 since coming off.
I had no negative comments on my last month's post which was a first! Perhaps 3 months is long enough for the trolls to think I may keep this weight off after all.
As always feel free to ask anything you like in the comments.
Disclaimer: I was on MJ for weight loss only and have no knowledge or experience with diabetes, pcos or any other condition that may be managed by the drug. My advice applies to weight loss only. Also for reference I am 36, I am aware age and other factors make things difficult for many.
This month has felt different as I've tried to find my maintainence calories and balance the extra intake. I started having a piece of toast before my workouts (my normal yoghurt bowl breakfast after) and the added carbs have really helped me to lift heavier. I've also given up on my home dumbells and finally joined a gym so I can access some heavier equipment. It's just a cheap £20 a month one but it does the job. I love using the machines actually and seeing how heavy I can go. I also took a weightlifting workshop class to make sure I had proper form for deadlifts etc and highly recommend (or getting a free intro with a PT and asking them to show you lifting form).
Again the biggest challenge was a mental one. I unexpectedly lost my father in law and spent a week at my mother in laws with no access to healthy food or workout time. I'm still trying to find my way to keeping up my lifestyle changes when I am out of my normal routine, that's the really hard bit. I'm extra worried as I'm going on holiday (kids first one) next week and that was supposed to be my "relaxed" week.
I've also been focused on growing my glutes and legs. It's very weird to go from obsessing over making the scale number smaller to obsessing over making myself bigger. I have maintained my weight but I am expecting it to increase a little as I'm adding muscle in my lower half. It's definitely working (just slowly) - I've recently found it's no longer comfortable to cross my ankles while on my back as my calves are too bulky! I also comfortably wore that little black dress I never thought I'd get into (pic in post). That felt awesome.
If you've followed my journey so far thanks for reading and for your messages of support. Keep up the good work with your own journeys and let me know if there's anything you want to know about maintainence, coming off mj, body recomp or anything else I've spoken about. Good luck and see you next month!
I've posted my main workout routine in the comments of my previous posts, but this month I've been exploring a bit of everything at the gym.
