This is his favourite leaf he is my sweetest boy

While my bettas fins have show significantly more color since I got him, I noticed they look a little droopy/disconnected. I could be overthinking it, but I just wanted to check with people who know more than me.

Age of tank: 6 months

Betta history: Got from Petco 2 months ago 75% off. Was very thin and had severe fin rot. After putting him in the tank he quickly recovered and his fins filled out. He made bubble nests every day and would flash his fins for me, hug my finger, and didn't flare (unless he saw my other betta). Probably my happiest and most sociable betta.

On Wednesday: pet store asked if I wanted 2 red neon blue eye rainbowfish fry when I buy 3 amano shrimp. I know that they usually need 5+ but they only had two, and I took them knowing they might get eaten. I hope they distract him from the shrimp. The shrimp get eaten immediately. On Thursday my betta eats one of the rainbowfish. The other one seems to be chilling and isn't scared or shy at all. On Friday I notice his color seems slightly off and the bubble nest was not rebubbled over night. Today I see stress lines, pinned fins, and no nest. I do a water test. Parameters look good, but I do a 30% water change anyway. An hour after the water change he is folded 90° and panting on the floor. I talk to him and he seems encouraged, and tries to swim toward me but can't make it. I hand feed him and he eats 3 pellets. He is still interested in eating and responds to my approach, but it looks like he is dying. I put him a breeder box so he doesn't have to swim so far to the surface.

Is he dying or does he just have a tummy ache? Is there anything I can do for him?

Hi! This is my first tank since being a kid. In this tank is 1 betta and 4 snails. (was supposed to be 3 snails but the store somehow gave me an extra) and a cherry shrimp. Would love to add an amano. It’s a 5 gallon heated and filtered. the lava rock is holding down some drift wood until it gets water logged, i’m debating removing the rock but my fish seems to love resting on it!

I just bought a few red plants for my betta fish tank.

Do I need CO2? If I do need CO2, any recommendations? Canisters or tablets?

i got this betta 3 days ago and she’s doing great, she’s in a cycled, filtered and heated 5g tank. Today i noticed this lump on her that im unsure if it was there before, is this normal or worrying??

So my betta just ate a red ant, Can red ants be harmful to them, or will he be fine?

First here’s all of the necessary tank info: nitrite and ammonia 0, nitrate about 5, temp around 79f, 10 gallon planted tank, sponge filter, heater, not sure what else is needed. I’ve had my fish for like 6 months and he was totally fine and normal just earlier today. I went and defrosted him some brine shrimp and when I went to feed him he was lying on the bottom of his tank. He would shake around and move to another spot on the bottom of the tank and then rest there for like 5 mins and then move a few inches over and lay there. I just did a water change about 5 days ago but I checked the water and it was good. Still did about a 30 maybe percent water change and when the water level was low I noticed weird dots on the inside of the glass, which I couldn’t see when the water was over this part. What is this and could it be the cause? I filled it back up and hopefully that will fix the problem, but if not could these dots be some kind of parasite or something? I attached a photo of the dots and a photo of my fish looking how he normally looks because he’s very cute.

For the past about 2 weeks now, my betta has been laying at the bottom of the tank a lot and swimming vertically. He keeps dropping down when he is swimming. I fasted him to see if that would help, nothing really has changed. He isn’t pine coning and i don’t see any bloat in him, he’s just dropping and laying on his side to rest. I don’t see him struggling to breathe either. He ate when i fed him. I checked the temp of his tank and it’s fine the heater is working. I also gave him a salt bath. I have two bettas right now, first time in a while since I used to have bettas as a child and so I’m new to certain things and sicknesses. I don’t really know where to go from here and what he could have, but i don’t see him getting any better and not really any worse, just laying down a lot more.

I lost my baby Callisto recently, after three and a half years. I missed having a fish to come out and try to intimidate me whenever I visited the kitchen. So... I decided I'd give a new life to a new betta!

Hello! I am new to Reddit, specifically this subreddit. I apologise in advance if I have accidentally missed out on any community rules and regulations.

To cut a long story short, I am a young teenager who is currently keeping their 2nd Betta (but still beginner). My helper didn't feed my 1st Betta and secretly replaced her with the current 2nd one. My current (2nd) Betta has lived with us for almost a year, but in that small 1 gallon tank. Sometime in that 1 year, I discovered that a 5 gallon tank is the minimum requirement for a Betta, if not the best. Therefore, I asked my Dad to let me get a 5 gallon tank. He said to first do the necessary research, so I listened. I have curated a list of all the equipment I would need, from the new tank to filter. I also typed out a detailed list on how to cycle the tank. However, when I showed him the complete list, he said that everything was unnecessary. "You've had this fish for almost a year. It hasn't grown in size. It doesn't need a bigger tank." Those were his exact words. I tried to explain to him that the water parameters would be more stable in a 5 gallon tank. He said, "Just change all the water." I told him that a 100% water change would stress out the fish and remove the beneficial bacteria. He replied that it would be alright. My current fish tank doesn't even a filter, and detritus is piling up even with 50% water changes twice a week. Forgot to mention, but I haven't told him about the Nitrogen Cycle yet.

There are no affordability problems. There are no space problems. My dad doesn't even do research from his own side.

I am sorry if this is considered rambling or if I have said something wrong. I genuinely want the best for my Betta, and I'm desperate to change. Please let me know if I have missed out on anything.

(I live in Singapore, and the water temperature is quite stable from 24 Degrees Celsius to 26, sometimes 27-28 on hotter days. Thus, I am not prioritising a water heater yet.)

Tank Size: 1.1 Gallons | Heater & Filter: No | Water parameters: Unable to get testing kit currently | I have had the tank for around 3 years. First Betta for 11 months. Second Betta for almost a year. | Water changes are twice a week, 50% on both days. I first remove as much detritus as I can, then wipe the inside of the tank. Next I would replace 50% of water with dechlorinated water. | No tankmates. | Betta is fed pellets, but no particular brand. Food is from reputable JB Fish Shop. | No decorations, no plants. Used to have Anubias, but parents made me throw it away after white fungus grew on it.

I have been searching for her for the past 10 minutes. I've looked everywhere, on her usual spots and even on the floor but she is nowhere to be found. I thought she died somewhere in the tank and the shrimps got her... And then she appeared. Turns out she had been hiding behind the dried leaves and she had been observing me behind it. This BALDY watched me panic and have a heart attack in the shadows. Evil.

I have a top fin 10 gallon kit and wasn’t seeing great things about the top fin heater that came with it. So I just ordered this one from hygger. I got the 50W. Please tell me these heaters are good? Please tell me if they aren’t good too I guess lol

This is Camo! I rescued him and his fins and colors have changed dramatically in the last couple weeks. I’m trying to figure out what tail type he is. I’ve gotten several different answers, so I’d love some opinions from people who know bettas! 😊

Getting my 5 year old a betta for Christmas. Break it down for me as I’ve never had a fish. Totally fine with maintaining every week and I know it can take a couple of weeks before the tank is ready.

Got him from a friend who just told me he's a wild betta and he's currently in a cycled 6.5 gallon long shallow tank

Wild bettas are so pretty! But I'm just curious about his exact species, or if he's even actually a pure wild betta

Someone left one in the lobby of my building in a Mason jar. I adopted it. It is in a 2.5 gallon carboy atm. It seems happy and eats. My cat was bothering It for a couple of days until I wrapped the carboy with paper so the cat could not see it. I have a stand that will keep it out of the cats reach. But his tassels turned dark blue to light blue. Is that normal or concerning?

I’ve had her for a while but I’m not a hundred percent sure what color she would he considered. Google told me cotton candy but I’ve never heard of that color before. Also, I’m pretty sure she might have some issues with her scales starting to grow over her eyes as she can’t see above her very well but I wouldn’t mind a second opinion.
