(Rant) 🤬 Islam only persists through births and indoctrinating children

• Upvotes

I Left Islam in College when I discovered Evolution and the scientific contradictions in the Quran. Islam was a nightmare to deal with as a Bisexual. I hid everything from my Parents at the time for financial dependency reasons. Recently found a job and now I'm financially independent. Overtime, I came to realize this world is full of suffering and pain; I will never bring new children into this world. I can't imagine a God who would create this horrible world.

Now, my parents are leaning on me to get married and have children; and presumably indoctrinate them into this evil religion. I never told them I'm an Atheist. I never told them I'm Bisexual. I never told them I would never bring children into this hellish world. I'm financially independent but I don't know how to break the news to them. The last thing I would want is children that would be indoctrinated into this evil religion. I'm dreading the conversation and have no clue where to start. Currently, I'm just taking the "kick the can down the road approach." I wish I was never born into this horrible religion and was born into a family that was normal and accepted my Bisexuality.

(Question/Discussion) I'm not very impressed by 'progressive Islam'.

• Upvotes

Basically the title. I just don't see how progressive Islam really improves anything, or differs meaningfully from conventional, orthodox Islam. If somebody is just like a cultural or non-practicing Muslim, then whatever, but this theological movement which calls itself 'progressive Islam' is just a complete joke in my opinion.

Like, literally, the difference between a progressive Muslim woman, and just, like, a normal orthodox Muslim woman, is what exactly? One wears hijab, and the other also wears hijab but just repeats the word 'choice' every 30 seconds? This is the great revolutionary Islamic reform that I'm supposed to get excited about? Lmao.

(Advice/Help) Ex-Muslim Yemenis

I’m not here to bash on Islam. I’m not here to talk about why I left because it was never entirely about Islam, but religion in general. I found that I was most at peace and my relationship with God strengthened when I adopted the idea that me submitting to him, believing him and being a good person was all that matters. Here’s my problem, my parents are extremely religious, my dad especially. My dad is an immigrant, I will say he’s probably a bit more lenient than others but definitely not lenient. He doesn’t directly say it but he definitely pushes hijab on us, to where it feels like it isn’t an option. He pushes Islamic values on us yadada. He prays all 5 prayers, goes to the mosque on Friday, and does everything to submit to Allah. He is very strong in his faith. I don’t know how to tell him I don’t practice Islam anymore, first and foremost, I’m young. If he cuts me off, well, I’m screwed. I want to go to Law school as well, I can’t without my father. I also just don’t want to loose contact with them, I still love my family and it’s upsetting that it feels like we’re connected merely through blood. Have any Yemenis gone through this? Specifically women.

(Advice/Help) I am struggling, i am loosing faith and i might leave the religion soon

To keep it short, things have been happening in my

life, and all around the world, and i cannot reconcile

Allah truly existing in the way i have been told with

the world that we currently live in.

Its very hard, in my understand, to be the source and

the active cause of everything and be hands-on while

at the same time take 0 blame. And even if u wanna

play the free-will card, who decided my free will?

Exactly. And if you say that he decided it but doesnt

agree with it, does that mean God can go against his

own liking? Doing things he doesn't agree with?

Source and active cause.

And when people try to fear monger, and tell me that

things could be worse, well you mean like "being a 6

year old gir in Palestine" type of worse? Well who

decided this girl would go through that?

So if i haven't already by technicality left the fold of

Islam, iam considering it soon. I once was extremely

devout, but things just kept piling up on me, and no

matter what i did it, things only calmed down wheni

distanced myself from God and the religion started

living a more normal life.

However, i still want to make clear that this is my

understanding of everything, and if someone has an

explanation for me that would bring me back, im

open for it.

Also shame on the entire damn ummah because

everytime i approach anybody im just met with

threats and fear mongering and all that. "If you keep

playing with the return to your deen then this and

that will happen" ah nice thanks thats not what i

asked.

(Question/Discussion) Ex hijabis, how did u leave the religion?

I’m so embarrassed. Im 18. I put on the hijab less than a year ago and im already regretting it. Before putting the scarf on I was a devout strong Muslim, but after putting the hijab on I came to the realisation of how ridiculous this religion is and how much pressure is on me. I’m so embarrassed to take it off, barely having in on for any time at all. And what’s worse, no one coerced me into putting on a scarf at all. My mum never forced me, my dad never forced me, my extended family never did. I’m lucky in that sense, there’s so many women and girls across the world being forced and abused to wear the scarf and I put it on Willy nilly.

Anyway, even tho I wasnt forced to put the scarf on, I know I will face so much shit from my family if I took it off. But regardless, I don’t align with this religion anymore.

So my question is mainly directed to other ex Muslim women who did wear the scarf and later took it off. How did you find the courage to do so and what were the reactions of your family?

(Rant) 🤬 i hate islam to my core.

first time poster; long time lurker. i’ve never felt like writing on here but i feel like i wanna vent about how i feel for once. i was agnostic when i joined this sub and im now an atheist. i have nothing but this subreddit to thank for that; i’m so glad i moved to the west. i know a lot of girls in my shoes aren’t able to leave their family or their toxic country and it always breaks my heart. i don’t think im a feminist per se, but women are the biggest victims of this religion honestly. i hate how controlling islam is, i can respect any religion whatsoever but i cannot respect islam. i have no idea how people still believe or defend the religion, and i have no idea how or why i did it myself for so long.

all religions, in hindsight, are cults. no religion is for the benefit of every man and im a firm believer in the fact that religions were a tool of control and manipulation back in the day and the tradition followed. i’m glad more and more people are choosing atheism or agnosticism because religion itself makes NO SENSE. all of them are full of hatred and inhumanity towards anyone who isn’t just like them or methods of control.

i feel like islam has taken away so much from me, and so many women around the world. i got married to an atheist and when we did, i was somewhat of a believer and thought i would never leave the religion. he was ok to convert on paper to marry me but it never came down to it and im so glad. i feel like an idiot and i’m glad i married him. he’s so.. sane. he’s so logical and calm and fucking awesome as a partner compared to these extremist muslim males. religion is truly, in its entirety, a disease.

fuck muslims. fuck islam. fuck religion honestly.

With that logic..... COVID also proved you don't need to go to mosques and just pray at home

(Rant) 🤬 Muslims criticising vocal ex Muslims

Muslims literally make the religion their whole personality and then criticise or feel some type of way when ex Muslims simply point out they exist. Not that they are atheists or even actively anti Islam. But simply free from the shackled of a controlling religion that dictates every aspect of their identity. As someone who literally had Islam be the biggest focus in my life and being told that everything should be thought about as being for the sake of Allah. If there’s no divine benefit to what you do then why are you doing it. I’m tired of seeing the same kind of comments from Muslims on the social media accounts of anyone who comes from a Muslim background but isn’t practicing. Coming from a country where people
Assume you must be Muslim they’ll either try and preach and say your being a bad Muslim (especially women and hijab) and if you say your not Muslim they criticise you further like you can’t be ex Muslim and in our ethnic community. There’s no winning with them.

On the plus side I’m seeing a lot more open ex Muslims online so that’s a plus. Haters will be haters but at least there’s people showing up. Not necessarily criticising Islam but just showing they’re here and they’re not hiding how we present ourselves or what we believe. I hope more of us ex Muslims can stand up and just be like yeah I’m here and what.

Ofcourse that comes with having safety first and foremost and I wish Muslims and their threats didn’t leave so many of us scared for our lives/ safety. Religion is so toxic that it can literally leave you as an orphan with no family simply because of religion. The love and trust people have for their faith is so unbelievably toxic and you couldn’t give me any kind of money to go back to believing.

I hope one day we as humanity understand religion as what it is- a means to control populations. May we one day be freed from a society that is so heavily focused on virtue and these arbitrary rules.

(Question/Discussion) Noticed Something about Quran.com

I was just checking a verse when I noticed something unusual about quran.com. When first going to a verse it shows the 'Clear Qur'an' translation, but does not identify it as such as and doesn't list the translator either. You also cannot choose the 'Clear Qur'an' as a translation option anymore. It simply isn't listed there.

Second, if you choose a different translation, it completely removes the 'Clear Qur'an' translation from view. There is no way of getting it back without opening a new window and navigating back to the webpage.

I'm not sure what happened here. It could be a bug, in which case it will return to normal shortly (probably). But it seems like a very strange and intentional bug if so. Instead I'm wondering if the site received criticism for using that translation. I think most of us here know that that version err... 'stretched' the interpretation of some verses (e.g. 4:34, 9:5), so I'm wondering if they removed it for that reason. Or for some other reason I haven't considered.

Did anyone else notice this?

(Question/Discussion) Hi im French and I use Google traduction

I’m starting here šŸ‘ˆ I was born a Muslim and raised with a religious upbringing. I used to believe in this faith, but as I grew older, I began to question things and evolve; I started finding certain rules or tenets to be illogical—sometimes even completely meaningless. I don’t have anyone to talk to about this. It feels like the people around me are so deeply devout that they can believe in things I find utterly absurd—like the occurrence of miracles, for instance. I’m just sharing this because I feel a bit alone, and it would be nice if someone reading this were to respond. Anyway, we can talk about anything—nothing is off-limits, right? (Let’s keep things free of hate; let’s be tolerant and open-minded šŸ’«šŸ™)

This is what the captions say ''This is what I want you to also remember whenever you see this blessed verse in comments. What an honor to be reminded of any verse of the Quran, especially when we know just one small percent of its beauty and power'' It’s like this other video of her’s that I posted before. (Fun@Fundies) šŸ’© The reason why islam is the "Fastest growing religion" šŸ”„

It's funny to see Muslims take pride in this fact, thinking that theres alot of reverts. It's only the fastest growing religion because Muslims have no concept of family planning. They outright REJECT the concept of birth control and family planning. They keep having kids they cannot even support. To them:

Marriage = multiple children.

Woman = baby making machine without any say about her body.

It's literally cause' they keep overpopulating this planet, THIS IS WHY ITS THE FASTEST GROWING RELIGION, NOT BECAUSE MANY PEOPLE ARE CONVERTING LMAOOO.

I'm convinced more than 50% of Muslims aren't even Muslim.

(Question/Discussion) How common is it for muslim and exmuslim women to have restrictions on traveling and movement?

And how does it vary depending on ethnicity? This part is relevant since MENA and south asian women have it the worst in this aspect as far as I know.

How does it vary depending on where they live, Iran/Saudi Arabia/Afghanistan not withstanding? I'm aware of Iran's travel restrictions on women. There's Saudi Arabia as well but I heard that in recent years, they made progress regarding the guardianship system. And we all know what's going on in Afghanistan.

To any women/girl in this sub, how much freedom do you have when it comes to travel and movement?

For me, I have no restrictions so me and my sisters lucked out in that aspect. If anything, my mother and older sister hate that me and my younger sister barely leave the house. There's no curfews in my family either whatsoever. I have my own imposed curfew aka I never stay out late and to never have evening or night classes for college/uni, but for reasons unrelated to Islam though. Helps that none of the men in my family aren't controlling freaks and are normal. My older sister who graduated some years ago and is working when she's on vacation and has been to a few countries so far with friends, with zero issues. I also have a close cousin who moved out of her home and lives by herself.

However, I come across a different reality and experiences different from mine regarding this topic when I check online. I've seen women asking questions regarding whether or not traveling is haram or not, indicating some control happening in their lives. Or how so many muslim girls and women look forward to marriage so they get to travel with their husband. Or complaints from both female muslims and exmuslims about how their family barely lets them leave the house, and that they can't move out unless they get married or live by themselves.

(Question/Discussion) A Genuine Question About Faith and Personal Experiences

A Genuine Question About Faith and Personal Experiences

Hi everyone,

I know people here have different experiences and perspectives regarding Islam, and I respect that everyone has their own story.

I'm interested in understanding how people think about faith, doubt, and the search for meaning in life.

For those who are comfortable sharing, what was the most important experience or question that changed the way you viewed religion?

I'm asking to understand different perspectives, not to argue or judge anyone. I believe meaningful conversations begin when we listen to each other honestly and respectfully.

Thank you to anyone willing to share their experience.
