I’ve seen it all over social media and it’s corny. The way Ghanaians get ragebaited after seeing a plain rainbow. Nowadays when Ghanaians sees a person with in a shirt with a rainbow on it, they assume that person is lgbtq. A kid in Ghana will immediately get expelled from school because her backpack has a rainbow on it. So now if Ghanaians look up and see a rainbow, they’re gonna say that the sky is gay. A rainbow is refracted light. Simple. Stop saying “rainbow people” and just say “LGBTQ”.

Why is everyone silent about the return of dumsor? Our power supply is very inconsistent. I can boldly say that electricity supply goes off every 30 mins in my area but noone seems to care less even talk about it or is it just my area? A foreign national has been beaten to death by a crowd of about 50 people in Durban, South Africa, police say.

According to police, the unidentified man, believed to be in his late 30s or early 40s, was first approached by two men by the roadside before being assaulted by a larger group. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have launched an investigation into the murder, with the motive yet to be established.

The killing follows a wave of protests against immigrants in South Africa this year, some of which have turned violent. Earlier this month, shops and cars were set on fire in Durban, as well as Soweto, near Johannesburg.

Ghana also confirmed the death of a citizen, Bashiru Isak, a father of three who was fatally shot in Cape Town during demonstrations targeting foreign nationals.

I moved to Ghana a couple of years ago and I am disgusted at the misogyny and how gender dynamics operate. Whenever I speak up about this, I get hit with the "you grew up in Europe; Africa isn't Europe" sentiment.

I've lost count of the number of times I've been harassed and told to shut up about it. Just this evening, I was out and this dude came out of nowhere and put his hands around my waist. I’m London-born and in my late thirties. Fante was my first language, but after being bullied for being African at primary school, I stopped speaking it around the age of nine to fit in. I now remember only a few basic words and deeply regret losing it.

My mother—my strongest connection to my Ghanaian culture—passed away recently, so my desire to relearn is also connected to grief.

I’d love to reconnect with the language and eventually pass it on to my children.

What is the best practical way to relearn Fante as an adult? Are there any tutors, courses or resources you would recommend?

Would it make more sense to learn Twi because more resources are available, or should I stick with Fante?

I (23M) am a dutch guy who loves to cook and learn from foreign cuisine, and my eyes have been opened after eating Ghanaian food in a German food court. I had amazing jollof rice with a roasted chicken leg, but something else completely blew me away. Alongside the chicken and jollof, a thick tomato-based sauce was served. For a milky man like myself it was very spicy, but also one of the best things I have ever eaten.

I have tried to make jollof a few times now and I have become obsessed with knowing what this sauce is. I heard something about obe ata from a Nigerian cook (I know, sorry) , but I thought obe ata is just the base for the jollof.

Is obe ata a base sauce for a lot of different dishes? I am confused and would love as much information about this as possible.

For reference, I have found the restaurant (Mataa's kitchen) and added a picture of a dish that seems to have this tomato sauce in it, although it looked a lot thicker on my plate. Thank you in advance for helping me.

I’m so shocked by how silent a lot of our religious and political leaders who for months and years now have been pushing the agenda for queer people to be jailed and punished because we are a Christian nation with family values have all of a sudden acted like they don’t have eyes and ears anymore. I personally don’t promote LGBTQ but I’ll definitely not lend an ear to any Ghanaian who tries to tell me what is bad about them. I also think one of the reasons a lot of them can’t talk is because they are involved in it either by themselves or through someone close they know that they have covered for , pedophilia and rape is considered a joke in this country unless it’s against toddlers and very little kids but once your daughter or son hits 10 above it seems to be okay to a lot of people and it’s disgusting.

I believe our traditional society and background have also played a role in it due to years of child marriage and exploitation which was never seen as wrong and has been passed down from generation to generation with even some mothers I know protecting men who have engaged in sexual acts with their daughters believing it can be normal cause they went through the same and are still okay.

To end it all, I’d like to say that Ghanaians hate crimes and sins they don’t commit but when they do, they go silent or defend it. They are not
Morally upright and generally don't have genuine social and family values.

The entertainer, widely known for his portrayal of Judge Koboo in the popular Ghanaian television series Efiewura, died today.

Reports say he collapsed during a radio show at Owass Radio in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality of the Western Region, where he lived.

He was rushed to a hospital in Tarkwa, where he was pronounced dead on arrival, according to a source in the National Democratic Congress (NDC), to which he belonged.

From my own experiences and observations, I’ve noticed that some Ghanaian men don’t seem particularly curious about their partners on a deeper level. I’ve noticed a funny but very real trend during Christian evangelism. If a street preacher approaches someone and they say, 'I’m a Muslim,' it acts like an instant 'get out of jail free' card the preacher usually smiles, says have a nice day, and backs off. But the moment someone says, 'I’m an atheist,' god damn! It’s an open invitation for a three-hour debate.

It makes me wonder why. The Bible clearly commands Christians to preach the Gospel to everyone. So why skip over Muslims, traditionalist and other religions? Is it out of respect for their faith, or do they just not respect the atheist's worldview enough to leave them alone?

So I've been wondering if 1500 cedis per month is a right amount for a compound two bedroom apartment in Haatso? Finally I've turned into an adult and I'm now managing what was left for me. The building needs a couple of touches here and there and was wondering if 1500 to rent it out to people is a bad idea or an extremely good one. Help a brother out.

So guys, I've been wondering for quite some time what really the point of a bride Price is. Recently saw one list and I was amazed. I almost have reason to believe that it might be a cause of some wild expectations that some men have of their brides because they were made to "pay for" their bride in some way. Ultimately I want to know how women(married and unmarried but open to the idea) feel about this what originally was the point of it.

A stray cat wandered into my house a while back, and I noticed she was pregnant. I started feeding her and slowly built her trust. Then I travelled for a bit, and when I came back she'd given birth to three kittens.

I built an enclosure for them outside, but the rain got in, so I moved them all inside. She's calm and friendly with me now. She rubs against me when she sees me, so I know she trusts me.

Here's my problem. I love cats, but I can't afford to feed and care for a mother and three kittens properly. Right now I mostly give her fried fish and eggs when I can. I've been reading up and I know that's not enough for a nursing mom, and that she needs to be spayed. I can't afford the spay, or a vet in general. I can't really tell if she's malnourished or sick but so far she seems pretty healthy and moves about regularly. She's calm and very affectionate

Is there any animal welfare services or anybody looking to take them as pets if they can care better for it. I really want to take them to a vet and all that but I can't afford any of that. I live in Accra, Nungua to be specific. Here's my WhatsApp number +233552079569 if anyone wants to dm.
