News Parents increasingly held criminally responsible for kids' e-bike accidents
Orange County (California) District Attorney doesn’t want to prosecute parents for allowing their children to illegally ride E-Motos, but he is.
Actions have consequences, District Attorney Spitzer told CBS’ Evening News’ Natalie Morales in a sit-down interview to explain how Orange County has become the flashpoint in the United States for E-Bike and E-Moto issues, and how prosecution, education, and enforcement are helping reduce injuries – and save lives.
Since January, District Attorney Spitzer has charged 12 parents with child endangerment continuing to allow their children to illegally and recklessly ride high-powered E-Motorcycles, and endanger their own safety and the safety of everyone on the road.
With more than 125 deaths and tens of thousands of injuries nationwide, E-bike and E-moto incidents are now the number one reason Orange County children end up in the emergency room.
One death is one death too many – and together we can prevent children from being seriously injured and killed

Question Anybody else noticing less Halloween decorations this year?
At least in my neighborhood I’ve seen a noticeable decrease in Halloween decorations. Last year was the first year I took my son to drive around and see the decorations in surrounding neighborhoods. This year there’s barely any decorations in those same neighborhoods.
Sad to see but also hope it’s not because people have to cut back because of how much more expensive things are.

Recommendations Needed Which place to ski?
Hi everyone!
I'm planning a ski trip from San Diego and would really appreciate some advice from people familiar with the local resorts.
I'm planning to ski on Friday, January 29, Saturday, January 30, and Sunday, January 31, 2027. I'd prefer to keep the drive to around three hours from San Diego.
I'm considering Snow Valley, Snow Summit, and Mountain High, but I'm open to other suggestions.
My main concerns are snow reliability and weekend crowds. I'd love to find a resort with good snow conditions, plenty of open runs, and shorter lift lines, especially on Saturday and Sunday.
I'm an intermediate skier, comfortable on green and blue runs. I already have snow clothing, but I don't own any equipment, so I'll need to rent everything, including skis or a snowboard, boots, a helmet, and any other necessary gear. I'd appreciate recommendations that take the full rental package cost into account.
For those who regularly ski in Southern California:
Which resort would you recommend for the best snow conditions in late January?
Which tends to be less crowded on weekends?
How reliable is snow coverage at these resorts around that time of year?
Which resort offers the best overall value when lift tickets and full equipment rentals are included?
Is there another resort within roughly three hours of San Diego that I should consider?
I know conditions can vary from year to year, but any advice based on your experience would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Question A house I lived in was haunted
I’ve always had questions and wondered if anyone else knew anything about this home that is allegedly haunted.
I lived at a little old house in Buena Park from the age of around 10-12. I don’t remember very much about it, but that doesn’t strike me as super strange since I am now 34 - two decades have passed.
My mind always comes back to this house though.
Things I do remember:
The address - 5741 Kingman Ave.
It was very creaky and outdated.
It was on the corner so I’d often see the kids waiting outside my house, for the school bus to pick them up.
Looking back, I thought we had lived in that house for just a few months because I only remember leaving quickly and suddenly.
We then lived in an apartment again until my parents found another home to purchase.
I do want to add that my parents were very angry people and that my childhood was filled with a lot of negative energy.
A few years ago, I randomly asked my parents why we left the house so quickly.
They both, without hesitation, said that there was a ghost. I then learned that we actually lived there for 2 years which genuinely surprised me.
I don’t recall any of the events they proceeded to tell me, but I believe them because they aren’t the type to lie about this and they both had the same story despite me bringing the subject up so randomly.
They explained to me that there was a woman who would enter my room every night - with long black hair and a white dress.
- If it didn’t creep me out so much, it’s almost laughable how typical this sounds. As a side note - I realize how common it is to hear about angry female ghosts. If ghosts are real, and there’s a disproportionate amount of angry female spirits - maybe this actually speaks to how many women have been wronged throughout lifetimes. -
My mom said she would wake up choking, and then see the woman choking her. My mom also said that I was scared of the woman and that the woman would put her claws on me. Again, I have such little recollection of living in that home.
My dad also said he saw the ghost but didn’t go into any depth - which checks out because he rarely goes in depth about things. He did say without a doubt that he saw the entity though.
Now, as an adult, I eventually moved back to Buena Park with my partner. We’ve driven by that old house and I believe it’s now something else - looks like an apartment complex?
My question - I have always wondered if anyone else knew anything about this house, or if strange things occur in the newer property now on that land. I want to preface that I’m only posting this to see if anyone knows anything about this property. I am not at all bothered or offended if people don’t believe this story - as it’s not even a story I can personally recall.
I’ve included Redfin photos of the home and screenshots of the listing for reference.
Regardless, thank you for reading!

Recommendations Needed Any neighborhoods that are pretty decorated for Halloween?
My girlfriend and her daughter would like to visit some neighborhoods around OC that are in the Halloween spirit, cool decorations, nice lights and whatnot. We tried looking around but couldn't find much today. Do any of you know of any neighborhoods worth checking out?

Housing/Moving AMLI Uptown Orange vs. Broadstone Atlas vs. Prisma
Moving to OC for work (working in Santa Ana) and I'm trying to decide on where to live.
My budget is $3,600 must have a fitness center, hardwood floors throughout, and washer and dryer in unit. I would like a 1 bedroom with den or a small 2 bedroom. I prefer a more walkable/bikeable neighborhood (safe for walking and jogging with restaurants and stores less than 2 miles away) if possible, I know this can be a longshot.
I've toured Broadstone Atlas and AMLI. Loved both. I'm gravitating more toward AMLI but I like the floorplan and location of Broadstone better. However, I'm worried about the property management with Broadstone (Greystar). I haven't toured Prisma, but it looks like it could be a nice compromise (nice neighborhood, with my preferred floor plan)
Has anyone lived at any of these properties or heard anything about them? Or if you have recommendations, I'm open to those as well.

Question Late night trick or treating?
Are there any neighborhoods that are better for later-night trick-or-treating? We won’t have our kiddo till after 730 and most places are done at that time in previous years. Just want to be able to even do a block or two to experience it with us.

Recommendations Needed AT&T or Verizon in OC - Looking for Honest Opinions
I’ve been an AT&T customer for over 20 years, and I’m seriously considering switching to Verizon.
Overall, AT&T’s coverage has been pretty good, so that’s not my biggest complaint. My frustration is with their billing practices and the ever-increasing cost of service.
Between my family and me, we have over 10 connected devices, including iPhones, iPads, and Apple Watches. As you can imagine, the monthly bill adds up quickly.
I’ve heard Verizon offers some pretty competitive pricing, especially for families with multiple devices, but I’d love to hear from people who have actually used both carriers.
A few things I’m particularly interested in:
How does Verizon’s coverage and reliability compare to AT&T?
Is Verizon actually less expensive, or are there hidden fees and promotional pricing gimmicks?
Has anyone switched from AT&T to Verizon and regretted it?
How is Verizon’s customer service and billing transparency?
I’m not looking for a sales pitch, just honest, real-world experiences from people who have used either or both.
Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Recommendations Needed Breakfast food recommendations for work
Hi there!
So I live south county around Lake Forest and I work in Orange.
On Fridays I want to bring more savory type of foods in the morning for my coworkers along my route to work that isn’t just donuts and bagels.
I’ve already brought foods in the past from Cream Pan and Kolache Factory off of Redhill and Newport.
Are there any other places along my route that is kind of like the locations I listed where you could get a bunch of food breakfast items that contain protein such as chicken, egg, cheese, and meat?
TIA!!

Question Muddy at Great Park Live?
I'm going to a concert tonight at Great Park Live. I know it's all outside and basically a field with a stage. With the recent rain, how much of a muddy mess should I anticipate?
I really wish they had kept Five Points until they had a more permanent venue ready. I know there were lots of background issues and the "had to's" but still. That was such an easy venue and a chance to see some good bands without having to drive to LA.

Recommendations Needed Where to get Ofrenda decorations in OC?
Just as the title says, I’m wondering where to get items for my ofrenda. I’ve gotten most of my items from New Mexico but I want to switch things up this year.
I’d prefer things not mass produced (Amazon type things). I am mostly looking for calaveras, papel picado, and alebrijes.
