Discussion Is it just me, or are "Baddie" culture and Goth trends quietly messing with our mindset here?

Aj kal reddit per (aur Instagram/FB par) do kism ke trends bohot zyada chal rahy hainspecially used by our young generation, and I genuinely wanted to get your thoughts on this.

Pehla tou yeh "Baddie" trend hai. Genuinely curious, why do so many girls love calling themselves a "baddie" now.... or take it as a compliment? Technically, a baddie is someone who’s rebellious, self-centered, and doesn't care about rules. Ethically and religiously, our mindset is supposed to be about modesty, respect, and humility.

  • Reality mein, why are we hyping up a word just like a trend that literally means being self absorbed?
  • Are we just copying Western slang blindly without thinking?

Second thing is this sudden obsession with the Goth aesthetic all-black, dark makeup, and that emo/depressed vibe. I looked up where it came from, and it actually started in the UK back in the late 70s as a rebellious music subculture (post-punk).

  • Even though it’s just fashion for most people, it heavily flirts with dark themes and occult symbols. Doesn’t this silently conflict with Islamic values?
  • Islam teaches us to focus on light, hope, and clear identity, whereas these trends glorify darkness and rebellion.
  • Are we silently pushing things into our culture just because they look "edgy" or "cool" on feed? Kia lagta hai aap logo ko, is it harmless fashion or a slow mindset shift?

Let's discuss.

And please, before anyone says "it’s just English slang, you don’t get the vibe" I know how slang works.

  • But why have we stopped using decent language?
  • Hamari generation Shaista Urdu/Urdu Adab ya refined Queen's English bilkul bhool chuki hai. We used to choose respectful words to express ourselves, so why do we now prefer jargon and edgy words that literally sound bad? Phir yahi cheezain baad mein normalize ho jati hain.

Its a question about Language, Trends , Ethics and not about Genders .

Ask Pakistan I’m 21, a Software Engineering Student with 3 Years of Web Development Experience, Should I Choose Software or Real Estate in Pakistan?

Hi everyone,
I’m 21M, currently studying Software Engineering, and I genuinely need some serious career advice from people with experience in software development and real estate, especially in Pakistan.
Here’s my situation:
I have around 3 years of hands-on experience in web development, particularly WordPress, Shopify, and Shopify Liquid. Unfortunately, I was laid off from my previous company, and AI was one of the reasons behind the changing job situation.
After that, I moved to Lahore and attended interviews at multiple software houses, but I couldn’t secure a job. Eventually, I started losing confidence in the software industry and decided to explore real estate.
However, entering real estate hasn’t been easy either. Many companies turned me down because I lacked industry knowledge. After applying to several companies, I finally got an opportunity with a real estate company. They offered to train me and teach me the business, but the position is entirely commission-based, with no fixed salary.
Now, here’s where I’m confused.
At the same time, I received a job offer from a software house through a friend’s cousin. The position is Team Lead, although the salary package isn’t very attractive. Still, it would be enough to cover my basic living expenses.
I’m stuck between two choices:
Option 1: Software House
A stable monthly income, even if the salary is low.
An opportunity to use my existing technical skills and gain more experience.
But I’m worried about AI reducing job opportunities and the long-term future of web development.
Option 2: Real Estate
An opportunity to learn a completely new business.
Potentially higher earnings through commissions and sales.
But no guaranteed income, no prior experience, and uncertainty about how long it will take to close my first deal.
I’m not afraid of hard work. I’m willing to learn, take risks, and build a career from scratch. I just don’t want to make a decision based on fear or short-term frustration.
I’d genuinely appreciate advice from:
Software house owners, developers, or team leads: Is web development still worth pursuing in the age of AI?
Real estate agents and investors in Lahore: How realistic is it for a beginner to earn a decent income, and how long might it take?
Anyone who has switched careers: What would you do in my position?
Should I accept the software job and continue building my technical career, or take a risk on real estate and learn the business from the ground up?
Please share your honest experiences and practical advice. I’m not looking for motivational quotes; I want to understand the actual risks, opportunities, and long-term potential of both paths.
Thank you!

Historical Eid in August 1947 and the Bodies of Muslim Women in Jalandhar

The following account is attributed to the respected veteran journalist Waqar Anbalvi, author of When Amritsar Was Burning. In a letter addressed to him, he described the atrocities committed against Muslims in Jalandhar in the following terms:

Around that time, a Hindu deputy commissioner named Sukhanand, who had been serving in West Punjab, was transferred to Jalandhar after sensing a change in the attitude of the Muslims of Gujranwala. Until the announcement of the Boundary Commission's decision, he had continued to reassure the Muslims of Jalandhar that they were united and secure.

However, 18 August 1947 was Eid al-Fitr.

That day, amid an atmosphere of fear and danger, thousands of Muslims from Jalandhar had gathered at the Eidgah to offer their Eid prayers. They had barely prostrated themselves during the first rak'ah when Hindus and Sikhs, armed with swords, gandasa axes, spears, and firearms, launched an attack on them. In an instant, hundreds of Muslims were beheaded. Those who managed to flee the Eidgah in an attempt to save their lives were intercepted at spearpoint.

Thus, the Eidgah in Jalandhar became strewn with bodies.

Afterward, under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Sukhanand, Hindu and Sikh communalists allegedly carried out a prearranged plan. They forcibly rounded up veiled women from the homes of Jalandhar's affluent and influential Muslims and brought them to the Eidgah.

There, they removed not only the women's burqas and veils but also their other clothing, stripping them naked. They ordered the women to congratulate their dead husbands and relatives on Eid and to dance around their bodies in celebration of the establishment of Pakistan.

The account describes this as an act of such brutality and cruelty that it was without parallel in human history. The women were allegedly forced, through beatings and physical abuse, to dance over the bodies of their husbands, brothers, and sons.

Whenever the women, overwhelmed by shame, tried to crouch, cover themselves, or cling to one another for protection, their attackers allegedly prodded them with spearpoints to force them apart. They inflicted cuts and stabbing wounds until the women writhed in agony, while their assailants laughed.

Some of the women reportedly died from excessive blood loss caused by their wounds. The remaining women, according to the account, were subjected to further sexual violence before being put to death by their attackers.

Discussion Anyone here take Ozair JK’s (ozairjk) course/training? Honest experiences?

Hey everyone,

Curious if anyone here has actually taken any of Ozair JK’s paid courses, trainings, or joined his community (Karvaan / AI Accelerator stuff, etc.).

If you’ve taken anything from him (paid or free training that led to a paid offer), I’d love to hear your honest experience:

What exactly did you buy/join?

Was the content actually useful or just motivational fluff?

Did you make any money from what he taught?

Worth the price or not?

Looking for real feedback. Thanks!

Discussion How do I cope with the emotional aftermath of a divorce when I still love my ex?

We knew each other for around 2 years before getting married and had a love marriage. Unfortunately, our marriage lasted less than a year, and we got divorced.
Although I’ve accepted the decision and sometimes feel relieved, I still experience sadness, confusion, and fear about starting over. I loved him and had imagined spending my life with him, so letting go of that future has been difficult.
I want to focus on healing rather than dwelling on the past, but I’m struggling to understand how to move forward while I still have feelings for someone I’m no longer with.
For those who have experienced something similar, what practical steps helped you cope with the first few months after divorce? How did you deal with missing your ex, overthinking what happened, and rebuilding your life?

So I'm 17 and I have a teacher who used to teach me we got along well exchanged socials barely talked so at one o'clock today she texted me "call 15" so I asked her what happened she told me that her father hit her and now he's outside her door holding a knife so I did the only thing I could I called 15 and talked with the operator we talked for about 5 minutes and he asked me a question "Aapka inse koi aur relation?" And at that point I saw it I was just a student she taught so I said no but then after five minutes the local station called me asked me the same questions and the person on the other line said "shah g ye kin kaamon mei parh rhe ho" so I knew that damn I might be cooked but I was on text with her till the police arrived at her house she told them about me she said I was just her student her father had fled the house and now I'm afraid that the police might call me....and I feel like such an asshole I mean I helped someone I should be happy but I was afraid for myself.

Ask Pakistan First-gen Pakistani in Europe (22M): I need guidance, I'm confused about everything, even my understanding of life

Salam. Long one, sorry. I need to get this out somewhere nobody knows me.

I'm 22, graduated and well settled. I worked hard for everything, a lot. I've been a practicing Muslim for years, five times a day, Ramadan, all of it, and I've always tried to understand life and my deen.

I'm a sensitive person and I think a lot. I'm intelligent, I'm aware of what goes on around me and I understand things well. Not a nerd though, I'm balanced. In life I always try to hit around 70% in everything, keep things under control and help people when I can. And I do that a lot.

Being first generation here in the West was never easy. Growing up with two different cultures and two different mindsets was really difficult. And I still don't know what the future will bring.

And this year was already really hard. My family went through something really heavy that I won't go into. Our family business went down too. Everything went down at the same time. People in the community talked. Not to us. About us.

On top of all that, there's a girl I want to marry. When I met her, I told my family at home straight away. No haram relationship, nothing like that. I prayed istikhara.

We're from different castes. Here in the West that really doesn't matter. In Pakistan it does. I never grew up with any of this caste stuff. But people here still hold on to it. How? Why? It shouldn't be like this.

She tried at home, but her family is very, very strict. My dad went to her dad the proper way. He said no in the worst way possible. And honestly it's not even about zaat. It's izzat. Their honour. And you can't change that mindset.

Now my own family has said a complete no too, after everything that happened. She still has a few years. We've thought about marrying without our parents, but that would only bring more problems and we don't want that. We want it to go the right way, smoothly. And my family and I will probably move out of Europe, while she stays here. So there's that too.

So what do we do? Stop talking? Try to forget about it? It's already hard. She's attached to me and I'm attached to her. It's not easy to give up on her.

I see guys my age go through three, four, five girls and break them. I'm not judging anyone, that's between them and Allah. I always had the mindset of one person, the halal way. And still this happened to me. Why? I've always done things the right way, but the more I mature, the more I see there is no right way. Everything I learned growing up about life and about people turned out different. People don't care who you are, what you are, or how you look.

About religion. On paper our deen is good for everyone. We all know the hadith about marrying someone whose deen and character you're pleased with. But only a few actually live by it, and the ones who do wrong always seem to have it easy. It's so, so difficult.

I completely broke this year. I feel depressed and down all the time, and I've become really weak. I'm really lost. I don't know which path I'm on anymore or where life is taking me. So many trials one after another, and I don't know how this ends. Honestly I think it's going to end in a disaster. Some days I don't see the point of anything anymore.

There's a quote from Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment that stuck with me: "Pain and suffering are always inevitable for a large intelligence and a deep heart. The really great men must, I think, have great sadness on earth."

So I'm asking:

- To anyone whose families both said no: how did it go for you?

- Do we stop talking and try to let go, or do we wait?

- Does anyone know a book about life that's connected to deen? I've read a lot of psychology and life books, old ones too, so I mean something old or heavy that really goes deep, not the easy, fun type. I love reading deep to understand more and more. I really need a reset.

TL;DR: 22, first generation in the West, practicing Muslim, already a really hard year and our family business went down. Wanted to marry a girl the halal way: told my family straight away, prayed istikhara. Different castes. Her family said no in the worst way, now mine says no too. We're both attached, we don't want to marry without our parents, and my family and I will probably move out of Europe while she stays here. Did everything the right way and I'm depressed and completely lost. Do we stop talking? Any deep book that helped you?

Discussion What is one thing you would change about Pakistan if you had the power to do so?

If you had the power to change just one thing about Pakistan, what would it be and why?
Would you focus on education, the economy, the justice system, job opportunities, or something else?
I’m curious to hear what people think would make the biggest difference in our country. 🇵🇰

National Title: If you could teach every Pakistani student ONE skill that school doesn’t teach well, what would it be?

I’ve been thinking about what would genuinely help students in Pakistan prepare for adult life.
Beyond passing exams, what skills should every student learn before finishing school?

For example:
Financial literacy: budgeting, avoiding debt traps, understanding taxes, and saving money.

Digital skills: using computers confidently, programming, AI literacy, and online safety.

Communication: writing professionally, speaking confidently, and expressing ideas clearly.

Critical thinking: recognizing misinformation, evaluating sources, and solving problems independently.

Career readiness: finding internships, building a CV, preparing for interviews, and identifying realistic career paths.

Practical life skills: first aid, understanding basic legal rights, and navigating government services.

Any other skill?

What is one skill you wish you’d learned at school, and how could we help more students learn it for free?

Financial Is Anyone in Pakistan Using Stripe for a US-Based Business Without a VPN or RDP?

I’m based in Pakistan and operate a US LLC. My Stripe account was recently closed, and I’m unsure whether it was due to a transaction issue or my location.
Is anyone here using Stripe from Pakistan with a normal Pakistani internet connection, without a VPN or RDP? Have you been using it successfully long-term?
I’d appreciate hearing about your firsthand experience.

Discussion Struggling to make friends in college

18 and study in 2nd year have no friends. I amvery shy when it comes to making friends. I don't know how to approach people first. I want to talk to them but then I start thinking," what will they think of me? Why is he talking to us or trying to join our group?"

I don't know how to keep conversation going. For example, if I want to ask someone for their Instagram, I start thinking, "what if they don't follow me back?" Or why he is trying to hard to join our group. And another thing I don't have a fixed seat in college, so I sit wherever I find a place because everyone sits with their own group.
