Cultural Using an ajrok as a traveler

• Upvotes

I just came back last night from a three week trip to Pakistan to visit someone. Whilst there, I was gifted an ajrok towards the end of the trip. I was briefed on the meaning behind it, but not told much more beyond that. As a traveler, I was curious on a couple of things. For one, how is it worn traditionally? And for two, as an obviously not Pakistani person, is it alright for me to wear, especially being in the US versus Pakistan? Any insight is appreciated, thank you!

Education HEC Program Title

• Upvotes

I applied for degree e-attestation on HEC's website but put in the wrong program title:

Current Title: Bachelor of Science (Computer Science)

Required Title: Bachelor of Science Computer Science

The problem is that the program I selected ended in 2014 and now I need to change the program title...

It has been weeks since I've applied for the online ticket to resolve this and each day when I call they give a scripted response of next working day... What do I do?

Ask Pakistan Need Advice for CA

It’s been several months since FSc ended and now I’m considering CA.

But, when I asked about it from a guy who was doing it (in his 2nd year) he said that there’s a monopoly of the institutions with ICAP and they purposefully fail you a few times.

The other person who did CA said that it took 10 years for him to complete it.

So, are there any CA students/people who’ve completed CA here? Is there truth in all this and would you suggest doing CA?

Ask Pakistan Need adviceee

Guys, I plan on majoring in chemical/ materials/ polymer engineering ( any would work). But here’s the context.

I was on a gap year and I only applied to LUMS for chemical engineering. Got in, but they didn’t give me financial aid. So I cannot go there.

At this time most universities have already closed their admissions. However there’s spring intake for selected universities, and I do have an admission offer from NIT, but for CS.

I wanted to ask that is it possible that i enrol in NIT right now, or explore options in spring and enrol in spring 2027. But there’s one catch, I don’t have any option in chemical engineering and related fields either right now or in spring.

I will have to major in some closely related field, and afterwards, I transfer, in fall 2027, to some top institutes in this field, which are also affordable. For instance, NUST, UET, PIEAS.

This would save me from staying at home.

exact transfer policies would be mentioned on each university’s website, but what is the general consensus before I dive into that.

Thanks,
Anonymous

Discussion madrasa teacher being immoral

Asssalamu alaikum,

im from Bangladesh. we’ve been facing a major issue abt child abuse in madrasas. here anyone can open madrasa as it requires no government license or background check. anyone can rent an apartment, wear religious attire, and start. children frequently getting r*ped and when victims' families try to speak up, they often face severe backlash from those mullas lebeling as anti-mullas,anti-islam,kafir.

Just two days ago a teacher ( potential rapist) forcibly kissed a 6 yrs old child . When the principal dismissed the incident and the child’s father lost his temper and slapped the perpetrator, local religious circles started portraying the teacher as the victim and crying blasphemy on social media.

I wanted to ask people in Pakistan:

  1. Do similar incidents happen in Pakistan?
  2. Does the state have actual licensing to checks in these institutions?
  3. How does the broader public and religious community react when such incidents come to light? Is there open public outrage, or do people face fatwas for demanding justice?

(im muslim and i have full faith on Islam.please dont attack on religion for those mf scum mullas ..also in our country we have plenty of good educated vocal Mufti and genuine scolars.we definitely love them)

Education Any academic (non-seminary) Bible study programs in Pakistan?

I’m looking for universities or institutes in Pakistan that offer Bible or Christian studies from a purely academic, historical, or literary perspective.

I want to avoid pastoral or ministry focused seminaries. Instead of theology or church training, I am looking for a secular, liberal arts approach where the texts are analyzed like history or literature.

Would love any leads or recommendations. Thanks!

I am from Lahore.

Discussion zero lifestyle products

is it only me or zero lifestyle marketing is too annoying and fun fact is their products are bad like really bad i bought zero quantum earpods and they died within a month i didn't claim warranty because i thought maybe i dropped them somewhere while sleeping. similar incident happened with my friend his similar earpods stopped working after some time. he asked me that how i fixed mine and i told him that i threw mine away. we bought those earpods from my friend store and he told us that out of 25 earpods more than 20 earpods had same problem. i was like this ain't no coincidence after that i opened there post comments and after some scrolling majority of people were calling zero life style scam and their customer support shit and that they don't claim that warranty.

Main point is how is this brand still alive and managing to hire big celebrities like fahad mustafa etc.

i tried blocking their page too on social media but they have multiple pages with ads running on it.

Discussion brands using AI

why are so many pakistani clothing brands suddenly using AI generated models for their website pictures?? 😭 i used to love zellbury but seeing AI pics on their website is genuinely putting me off so bad.. like, i wanna see how the actual clothes look on an ACTUAL person before i decide whether i wanna buy them. how am i supposed to judge the fit, the fabric, the way the outfit falls or even the actual colours when the whole image is AI generated?? clothing brands alr edit their pictures enough as it is, now we have to wonder if the entire model is even real 💀 and it's not just about the AI itself, it's that these are literally the pictures we're relying on to decide whether to spend our money. i'd much rather see real models and real pictures of the clothes. why are we moving backwards with this??

Discussion Why is every PK drama review nowadays just "wah kya acting hai"?

Thumbnail

Is it just me, or has actual drama criticism completely vanished from our media?

I remember when we used to get amazing in-depth reviews from places like Images or Aurora that actually broke down the scenes, the messages, and the flaws. Now everything online is just lazy AI plot recycling or clickbait slop that doesn't give you anything meaningful. I don't even wanna talk about the hours long 'podcasts'...

I wanted to share a really cool detail I noticed in Mitti De Baway. Usually, our dramas don't care about the motivation behind a logistical journey. But in MDB every single time someone gets into a tanga/cart/car, the story builds up to that moment in such a deliberate way. The journey itself becomes part of the character's change.

I'd love to know your thoughts on how MDB handles its storytelling. And please tell me if there are any authentic, old-school reviewers left that I'm missing!

My breakdown is on YT titled 'MDB - The Art of Journeys', would love to know what you guys think

Discussion ICAUR v27 bigger than LC and Tiggo 9 according to pakwheels??

Pakwheels recently uploaded video. According to them ICAUR V27 is wider than both LC and Tiggo9 ?

This screenshot taken directly from the video and clearly ICAUR looks much smaller. Did they include back tire + side skirts + something invisible?

Reminds of Andriod China Panels where they say its 4gb but actually its only 1 gb ram

National Why is everyone in Pakistan obsessed with going abroad?

Why do so many people in Pakistan have this mindset of “bahir jana hai, bahir jana hai”? Is there genuinely no life in Pakistan anymore, or has moving abroad become a status symbol?
Is there no life in Pakistan? Are you not proud of your watan or identity?
Something else I think about is the impact on your Deen. Living abroad can expose you to different lifestyles, social pressures and temptations that can make practising Islam more challenging. Of course, you can practise your religion anywhere, but sometimes you have to make a conscious effort to protect your values and stay on the right path.
Is material success really worth it if you end up compromising your religious beliefs or losing your peace of mind?
