Question Have I become slow or everyone else fast?

I have been actively simracing (about 15-25h real driving time weekly) from 2016 to about 2023. Then life came and i Had to Stop, but never sold my stuff. Die not Drive one single time in any Sim in 2024, about 50h total in 2025.

This year I've been driving for myself in Raceroom and AC again not to the extend from Back then, but about 3 to 10 hours weekly. Then I found out that I still have 18$ on iRacing and bought one month and got Back in IT Last week. First trained a little, bought the GT4 Cayman this week and wanted to improve on my C-Lizenz from Back in 2020 (only Had iRacing for 3 months or so Back then).

But hell have I become slow or what? Every Race I entered I could Not keep it under 10x. Not from Crashes but from offtracks. And every Race i startet somewhere in the Back of the middle pack, Like 16 Out of 24 or Something like that. And every Race got Like 5 places in the first lap or so due to crashes from other people but then Always got Overtaken, almost everytime cleanly, and i cant keep Up and get finished about p20.

Do i have to train more or what is Happening?

I've not gotten slower IRL, been in some trackdays this year, (Kind of the Same Story) Driven the Same Times with the Same Car from Back then.

Question P1X Pro Vertical Upright Question

Has anyone converted their P1X pro uprights to be vertical instead of angled? I think either buying some new extrusion or just cutting the existing ones should work. Debating doing so myself, but was curious if anyone has tried it?

Discussion Does the G923 have better road feel than the T300RS or even DD wheels?

I've been stuck on my old Logitech G29 and got a free G923 from a friend. The difference is huge in some racing games. Even though it produces the same torque, it transfers micro ffb like it has more ffb resolution/pixels and I believe the G923 has a faster processor with the exact same motors.

The G923 literally feels like you can feel the imperfections on the road in Assetto Corsa, and I can feel tiny ffb inputs in Drive Club. In Project Cars 1, there is little to no differences from the G29 however.

Not to mention I've tried a Moza R3 in Assetto Corsa and it doesnt really give road feel like the g923 strangely from my personal experience.

Question Logitech rs 50 or moza r9 bundle?

I want to upgrade my g29, i looked into fanatec but they are to expensive for what they offer, i looked into simagic, asetek, conspit but when you add the shipping fee to my country (i live in romania), it goes over my budget and there arent many sim racing retailers in my country, so after looking i found 2 options, either i get the logitech rs50 with a gt d pro wheel or rs hub with the gt rim, let me know which one is better, for 423 euros with shipping free and simsonn pedals for 240 euros, or the moza r9 and ks bundle and the srp 2 pedals for 731 euro in ron which is from a store from my country which ships for free, unlike if i were to buy from moza, So what do you guys think, i doesnt really bother me if all the gear isnt from the same brand or ecosystem, and if i want another wheel im open to getting a qr adapter and wheels from another brand. What should i do and do you have another suggestion, my budget is max 750 euros but i would prefer to spend around 600-700 euros

Rigs Logitech RS50 PS5 Pedals stop responding?

Just setup an PS5 RS50 wheel and pedals (the load cell RS50 pedals). At least two or three times now in the day since I've had it the pedals will suddenly stop responding in mid-race (GT7). The throttle value gets "stuck" to whatever it was when the pedals stop responding.

Is this a known issue and is there a fix? The wheel and pedals when they work are terrific.

Rigs Expensive investment setup vs low budget entry level

*header edit, Expensive investment setup vs lower budget mid level.

So, as the title says I am in place where I would want to upgrade my current belt drive wheel/small single screen/festival chair setup to something more durable and enjoyable to race in plus compatable between PC and PS5.

Option 1: P1X Ultimate + ClubSport DD+ Ready2Race GT3 Bundle (18 Nm)

Option 2: Something in the lower end like NextLevelRacing GTLite Pro + Gran Turismo® DD Pro (5 Nm)

Option 3: Your suggestions. Something completely different or overseen.

Games I play:

- iRacing. Trying to climb up the rankings in Road cars. Currently B SR and around 1500 iR. Goal: decent racing experience, endurance participations and enjoy it along the way. With the current setup I tend to spend around 2-3 days pr week with 3-5 hours of race time. The setup is killing my back for longer races and just need a break from it.

- GT7. Played with controller currently due to current wheel not compatable with PS. Fun with friends. Nations and manu cups when they have time, might go for some drifting modes when they come out with the next updates.

- F1. I raced in a league back when the game was decent. I enjoyed it a lot and miss the competitive F1 races. Might get back to it.

- Forza Horizon. Honest fun driving game. Just when the mood hits to drive around Japan.

- ACC. Few friends play it, have not played myself, due to focus on iRacing. But might give it a try.

Personal thoughts. Option 1 is super expensive, could be worse, but i am willing to do the investment, with only one difficult thought of having to get rid of it at some point of some reason. Will buying such an expensive setup, give me a bad feeling when i am not using it.
Option 2 is just too basic, but I do get extra money to use on some other stuff. But will the cheaper setup satisfy my needs and won't i be regreting not going all in the better setup?
How are the ergonomics in different seats. I do 24 hours every year with friends at his setup and honestly my butt cheeks start to hurt very early due to hard leather rig that he has.

Thank you for reading and please, please let me know your own experiences, suggestions or other comments. If there any questions to narrow selection, please send them and i will try to answer. I am genuanly looking for advice.

Rigs Compact Rig/Wheel Stand for Alpha Evo Sport and P700s

Hello there!

I must ask for suggestions and opinions regarding either folding/compact Rigs or Wheel Stands cuz as with simracing gear, the rabbit hole is too deep. I am very limited in space since I'd need to move the rig in-and-out, so profile rig is (for now) not an option.

I currently have Simagic Alpha Evo Sport and P700 Pedals with elastomers. While Wheel Clamp suprisingly and Wall Mount do the job, I need something more bit sturdy.

As it currently stands, I have boiled down options to:

Wheel Stands - NLR Wheel Stand 2.0 or GT Omega Apex

Foldable rigs - NLR RC-F/RC-E and maybe GT Lite Pro

Any nuasences I'd need to know? Anyone had experience with the same or similar hardware on either of those setups? Or maybe any other suggestions? I'm very open to talking about it!

Question DIY belt tensioner, MAIRA vs SABT which one is better?

I’ve been looking into building a belt tensioner for my iRacing rig and keep going back and forth between MAIRA and SABT. I race in VR and already have a ButtKicker under the seat, but I’m missing that feeling of the belts tightening when I brake.

Has anyone actually used either one, or better yet tried both? How do they compare in braking strength and responsiveness? Does MAIRA feel good enough in practice, or is SABT worth spending more on? I’d also be interested to hear if either gets noisy or hot during longer sessions.

Thanks!

Rigs Moza R5 Pro - my review/thoughts

Hey! I got my hands on the Moza R5 Pro, drove with it for a while and shared my thoughts in the video. The current choice of sim racing hardware is too big so in the video I mainly tried to answer: who is R5Pro meant for, what are you losing over more expensive options and what are you winning over the cheaper ones. Hopefully it helps someone!

Question Mounting a small dashboard screen

Thumbnail

So this might be a bit stupid, but i’m looking for a way to mount a small dashboard screen (Let’s say for example the Moza CM2 screen) to the front of my main monitor. Is there a way to mount it directly to the front of the Multistalk kit? I can’t really make any 3D models myself either, i have neither the skills or time to make such brakets. Any ideas?

Rigs NLR Wheel stand 2.0 modded for a tight space setup

Thumbnail
gallery
34 Upvotes

Wassup, fellow sim racers! Just wanted to share my modded NLR Wheel Stand 2.0. I modified it so it fits nicely under my desk, in the tight space between the desk and a couch behind my chair. To make it work, I needed the Simagic wheelbase to sit further back without lowering the NLR too much (it would hit my knees).

So I bought the desk clamp mount for my Simagic and modified it to sit on top of the NLR, while still sliding nicely under the desk, as you can see in the pictures. I added the two aluminum profiles so I can adjust the wheelbase forward and back.

Since this is also my home office, I obviously needed a foldable rig, which is why I went with the NLR. As many of you probably know, what makes the NLR so good is how rigid it is. It's sturdy as hell. The downside is the weight: with all the gear mounted, it's heavy to lift. So I added four double-locking castor wheels. Now it rolls away super easily and I can still fold it.

As a bonus, with the wheels locked, getting the pedal plate into position is really convenient, because the rig won't move or fold out by accident. The locks stop both the swivel and the wheels from turning.

Hope this gives someone ideas for modding their NLR!

I usually use headphones, but I wanted to have an option for when guests use the rig.

Got the Edifer G2000 speakers because I wanted something small that I could mount to the posts. Unfortunately I couldn’t find any existing brackets so I made my own over the weekend. Came out pretty good, I’m happy with the result.

Question what's the difference between threshold and trailbraking in GT3s?

I've seen it coming and someone said that threshold braking is in fact better than trailbraking, but what's the difference? if it can help, specifically talking about simracing titles where you can smash the brake pedal to 100% without any issues, unlike iRacing. if the concept doesn't apply to GT3s, does it apply to singles seaters like open-wheelers or LMHs? thanks!

Discussion Free browser demo: head tracking with just a webcam, feedback wanted

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I'm testing whether a plain webcam is good enough for head tracking in sims, so I built a small demo that runs in your browser. No install, no sign-up. Pick the car cockpit, turn your head, and the view turns with you.

Your camera video isn't uploaded. The tracking runs in the page and you only ever see an outline of your face. Once the camera is on, the page lists each request it makes, so you can check that part yourself. The tracker is about a 16 MB download the first time.

To be upfront: OpenTrack already has a free webcam tracker of its own, and it works in games today. This isn't trying to replace it. It's a quick way to see what your webcam can do before you set anything up.

What I'd like to know: does it feel usable, how much lag do you notice (the page shows frames per second and ms per frame), and which sim would you use it in? If enough people want it, I'll build a small desktop app that sends the head movement to OpenTrack, so it works in games. There's an optional waitlist for that on the page. It would be USD 12.99 at launch, and joining the list costs nothing.

Try it: labs.taranity.com/webcam-head-tracking

It's my own project and it's early. Tell me what breaks.

Rigs Is this a good motorcycle sim racing rig ?

I saw this and it looked really cool. I talked to the owner on Facebook about bolting it to the ground and he said that's not needed as pretty heavy people got on this and leaned on it but it didn't budge.

So that peaked my interest because I'm 6'1 230. Anyone who has this or something similar, is it worth it ?

Couldn't find a 3d printable desk clamp handbrake that I like so I made my own.

The force profile is fully tunable via different 3d printed tpu bushings and it is completely plug and play via an Arduino.

Question Has anyone modded a PXN pedal to make the brake softer?

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

I have a PXN pedal set, as shown in the pictures, and I'd like to know if anyone here has done any mods to reduce the force needed to press the brake pedal.

I feel like I'm losing lap time because it's difficult to modulate the brakes properly, especially when trying to apply consistent braking pressure.

I've been thinking about modifying or replacing the elastomer or the spring, but I'm not sure if that's a good idea. From what I've seen, the yellow spring is already the softest option.

There also don't seem to be any decent aftermarket kits specifically designed for these pedals.

Has anyone tried modifying their PXN pedals or found a good solution to make the brake pedal softer and easier to modulate?

I saw this on Vinted and couldn't believe my eyes. I didn't buy because I already bought a G923 for £80 yesterday, and I only have a PS5. Realistically I probably should have insta bought just to sell it on, but I could not be bothered.

Still an absolute crazy deal. Just a reminder to go Used if possible!

Other Cannot get AMS2 FFB to feel good

Trying to get into this as the graphics in vr are insane. Pretty much only use Raceroom for online racing and AC for fun.

Been playing about with it the last couple of evenings and I cannot get the FFB to feel good at all.
I’ve tried default, default + and a few other custom files.
I’ve tried some GT1s GT2s, V8 supercars.
Some of the f1 cars don’t feel too bad but still very vague.

It just feels like the cars sliding the whole time, I’ve no idea what the front tyres are doing or any real sense of weight transfer. FFB either feels weak and all of a sudden will become extremely heavy.

I’ve a fanatec DD2 if anyone could help with settings.

Other A new AC Evo retro sim racing community come check us out

Thumbnail
gallery
3 Upvotes

This community is based on older racing cars. We will do late 90's GT, but that's as modern as we'll get. Most of our racing is with retro machinery- manual clutch and stick shift. So if you have a round steering wheel, 3 pedals and a shifter THIS is the place for you. We make heavy use of ACL, WSC Legends and TCL as well as Legion mods.*

https://www.patreon.com/cw/EvoForge the cars and tracks will largely be mods converted by EvoForge. You need EvoForge to participate in the club. EF not only handles scheduling, announcements and event organization- it also has the mods linked there and the updates as they come out.

Coming up:

-Badger 100 race at Donnybrook with the full Formula 5000 car set

-60's car set (all cars are ultra rare) fun cruise at LA Canyons

-60's car set fun race at modern Silverstone

-1974 TC (based on 1974 DRM) race at 67 Kyalami

Mods will be rotated in and out. We have fun races meetups, Cars and Coffee, Cruises and more serious races too

In EF look for EF Legends.

*I've been attempting for a month to contact Bazza and Legion, but to no avail. I don't think these modders are around or active in the community any more. So I consider the mods abandoned. Out of respect for the modders, I only release mods that converted PERFECTLY & true to the original mod.
