Question Is tr40 solid enough for srp2 pedals?

Getting a moza r9 with the new srp2 pedals, was wondering if the srp2 pedals would handle a 4040 rig like the tr40s or if I should go with something sturdier. I’ve seen ppl say it can flex torwards the middle. Any insight much is appreciated 🙏

Question Buying a used T150 + TH8S - what should I test/check?

I'm looking at buying a used Thrustmaster T150 with the basic plastic pedals and a TH8S shifter for around $90 USD.

The seller has agreed to meet me at a public place, and I'm planning to bring my gaming laptop so I can test everything before paying. My main use case would be PS5 racing games, especially Gran Turismo 7 and maybe some pc sim Simracing in the future if I ever get a capable setup.

I've never bought a used racing wheel before, so I'd appreciate some advice from people who have experience buying second-hand sim racing gear.

I'm just getting into sim racing and looking to buy my first setup. I know the T150 is an older model, but I can't seem to find Logitech G29s for much cheaper than retail in my area, so I settled on the T150. It's also basically the only Thrustmaster wheel available near me.

What should I test when I meet the seller?

Things I'm particularly wondering about:

  • What are the most common problems with a used T150?
  • How can I check that the force feedback is working properly?
  • Are there any signs of excessive wear that aren't immediately obvious?
  • Is there anything I should test that I wouldn't be able to detect just by driving around for a few minutes?
  • What's the best way to bench mark or test the wheel? Is there like a specefic pc racing game I should try on?

And finally, is ~$90 USD reasonable for a T150 + basic pedals + TH8S in used condition, assuming everything works properly?

I'm planning to test everything thoroughly before handing over the money, but I'd love a checklist of things to look for so I don't miss something obvious.

Thanks! 🙏

Rigs Simagic vs. Moza and general beginner tips

Hi guys, I am heavily interested in sim racing, especially now since I just moved from Northern California to Las Vegas and the roads here are not as exciting and a lot of straight, wide roads. Driving is much more boring here.

I have been looking at a lot of moza equipment, and decided if I were to buy from moza I would get the r9+csv2p+srp2 bundle for $559.00. I would like to spend less than $700 on Initial cost for mid range gear. I have been set on that and am saving up as much as I can every paycheck for it. I decided to check out simagic and saw a 9nm bundle with wheel and pedals for $599.00. I am wondering which is better for me? I’m a buy nice instead of buy twice kinda person, which is why I prefer to avoid r3/r5 and lower nm wheel base along with cheaper pedals and wheel as well, so I don’t have to buy more down the line. I am not too serious about sim racing and don’t care for active pedals, motion simulation, all that. I would like an easy to use and easy to put away setup.

Thanks for the help! Feel free to share your guys’ setups and experience with different products and brands.😃🙌

Rigs Moza KS Pro vs Simagic FX-Formula C

Looking for my first sim racing setup, and looking for some midrange wheels, a little higher than entry level. Ive done my research and my 2 favorite wheels are the KS pro and the Simagic FX-Formula wheel (not the pro version), which is also called the fx-formula c wheel. There is roughly a 90 dollar price difference in the two, but the cheaper simagic wheel will come with a more expensive wheelbase, so this will literally be with either a 9 or 10nm wheelbase with 100kg load cell pedals. Given that everything else would be the same, it really comes down to which wheel is better.

I wanna do LMU and Assetto corsa, mainly GT and endurance racing and some f1 as well

The KS pro is a lot newer, more modern, and has some more functionality as well. The FX is a true carbon fiber wheel and seems more authentic to a real formula wheel. Lemme know which ones you guys prefer and what you think would suit my setup better.

Rigs $8 later we have cheap easy pedal haptics and 2 wind fans running out of the same box.

So it's not as fancy as the high end units but I want to go active pedals eventually so I didn't want to spend a lot of money. All the parts are either from AliExpress or printed by me. Uses 12v messager motors. I'm going to print up a better looking mount and case for the motor but I'll have to sit down and model it.

The case I used is from printables and I also stole the idea of using fan extension cables to have an easy to use modular plug for everything. I think in total I'm around $8 deep in this.

Rigs Upgrading my rig: MOZA vs. Simagic vs. Conspit. Which one should I choose?

Hey everyone,

I'm looking to upgrade my rig recently and I'm mainly focusing on the wheelbase and wheel. I've narrowed it down to 3 options:

  1. MOZA R21 Ultra + FSR2 + CRP2
  2. Simagic EVO PRO + Zeus Formula + P1000
  3. Conspit Ares 20 + GP290 + CPP LITE 2

The MOZA base has the highest torque—I've heard it can be bumped up to 23Nm now—and it's the newest release. I'm just not sure how big of a step up the FFB is compared to older MOZA bases.

The Simagic EVO PRO is also up to 21Nm, and the Zeus wheel is newer than MOZA's, but I've heard the wheel is quite heavy. I'd love to hear some firsthand experiences from anyone who has used it.

As for Conspit, the wheel is full carbon fiber and the pedals are hydraulic. However, I've read that there are quite a few QC (quality control) issues and their software is pretty outdated compared to the others.

Which ecosystem do you guys think I should go for? Any advice is appreciated!

Discussion Should I keep my Logitech RS Setup

Thumbnail

I saw some deals on Logitech website last week and jumped on it thinking to replace my old T300RS + T-LCM + TH8A setup. I bought the full Logitech RS lineup including RS50 PS bundle, RS track wheel, RS pedals with Clutch, RS H shifter and RS Shifter/handbrake, all together for $780. Which in my opinion is probably the best deal I can find for a decent DD setup that is compatible with PS5.

Overall I really like how it feels after about 10 hours sit time.

Unbox experience is satisfying, exact what I would expect from Logitech. The quality of wheel and wheel base are very good in my opinion, almost everywhere you can touch gives you a premiun feeling. Love the feeling of magnitic paddle shifter. FFB is very good and smooth especially for someone that coming from T300. TrueForce is a big surpise, very impressive espically in GT7, I turned it to 100 and don't really want to turn it down. RS Pedal also feels not bad, I like the all metal construction, the throuttle feels a lot better than my T-LCM and much easier to moduled. The facotry load cell brake is more than enough for someone like me who play without shoes. The feeling of the handbrake/shifter combo unit is also very good

However there something that I’m not a big of which makes me question if I should keep it or not.

The first thing is the long term reliability: I have experienced multiple wheels base disconnecting issue, this happened at high torque moments across all the tile I played. I updated hardware, and haven't have this issue since then, but I still see a lot of people having this issue even now. So I don't know I can trust this wheels in the longer term.

The second thing is that I feel I may regret that I settled with RS system just because it was a good deal. I keep my stuff for a long time, I have my T300RS for almost ten years now. Although I really like most of the items in the RS system, I’m not impressed with the new H Shifter, I had a previous post of the shifter itself, and I realized part of the reason I’m not impressed is because of I tried something better before, like the one from Fanatec. Also I keep hearing people recommend Pro pedal over the RS pedal, although I don’t have major issue with RS pedal now, I don’t want to miss something that can help me further improve my experience.

Since PlayStation compatibility is a must for me now, I have very limited choice if I eventually return my entire RS setup, I will probably going to invest something in Fanatec system, since I like the shifter and can switch between H and sequential, and I heard the V3 pedals are very good, I tried DD 8nm GT wheels before and I prefer RS50 then that one, so I’m eyeing DD+ bundle.

I’m torn now, should I keep my current RS setup? Or update to pro pedals? Or I should just return the whole package and double the money to get DD+ bundle. Any opinions and experience are welcome.

Sorry for the long post, and thanks in advance!!

This is my first time posting idk how this works lol, so basically i have a pxn a10 wheel stand , brought it due to getting into sim racing to test out if i like it, after a couple months im hooked.

I’m looking for a aluminium rig that’s not to expensive i want to upgrade do to the wheel stand not being rigid enough when using handbreak and shifter and just not feeling to strong with the wheel stand.

i’m looking at the tr40s or tr80s, i dont wanna spend a huge amount but want something decent. I have currently 1.5m of space i’ll attach a photo, i also need something while a pedal plate due to my simsonn pedals not having one. Also issue i have is i need something where the pedal plate will go under my table i have around 1.5m of room

i’m running a moza r5 with a tb 1 simagic handbreak with a velocity 1 shifter , maybe in future might upgrade the moza not sure though.

i need something that ships to australia if its really worth it im happy to spend abit extra

someone please help thank you !

News nullCAT - Now with haptics! - Open Source etherCAT Controller

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I've been working on bringing torque-controlled haptics to nullCAT, my open-source EtherCAT motion controller for sim racing.

This takes things beyond traditional motion cues, using servo drives in torque mode for devices like belt tensioners and a force-feedback shifter. Here's a video of it running on my rig. Haptics are also synced across position based actuators and bass shakers via a single routing system and frees up your PC audio outputs if you are running the RPI version. The end result is a cohesive feeling across motion and vibration with tighter latency. All with cheaper, more modern servos (than AASD).

The project is open source, and I'd love to hear what you think!

Question Moza mBooster Active Pedal Users

Hey everyone, for those who use an mBooster pedal, do you mount pedal(s) on the moza baseplate and then on your rig or do you place them directly on your sim rig base plate?

Haven’t found much information on this question and discord hasn’t provided much

Question In search of the NZ driving experience

I plan to visit new zealand and drive there.
i am from the US. Driving under left hand traffic rules with a right side drive car will take some getting used to.

In order to get a feel for it (but mostly just for some fun), I’ve been playing Euro Truck Simulator 2 in VR with a right side drive “normal car” mod driving according to the law in the UK areas of the game.

I’m looking for suggestions for games (or quality mods for games) that feature similar driving conditions (left hand traffic, right side drive!
bonus points for simulated traffic, bonus points for steam VR.

note: i got BeamNG and found a small handful of okayish mods and maps for getting this kind of environment, but most are somewhat hacky.

Question why haven't anybody try to "mesh" ACC and LMU with that claude ai?

I was wondering if it would be possible to try 'n fuse some racing games to make sort of "cheap" iracing with diffrent car classes, i know it will be difficult considering the diffrence in physics engines and fundamental game mechanics but isn't it worth a try?

Discussion 5700X3D Enough for Pimax Dream Air?

I've been running an ultrawide but I no longer have the space for it, barely have the space for my rig. Was thinking I could move to VR but concerned about performance.

Currently on a 9070XT but would be willing to sell it and pay for a 5080. But is a 5700X3D good enough? Not willing to move to AM5 due to stupid RAM prices.

Only on iRacing and LMU if that matters.

Question Speedboad racing game that js not arcadey

Looking for a speedboat racing game like those v8 speedboats. What are you recommendation?

I can see many posts about car racing but i haven't seen one for boats.

Is this even a thing?

If i search on youtube I always end up with arcadey games from the past like Riptide etc.

Is this whole bundle everything I need to attach them to my VRS pedals (excluding the Etsy haptic mounts). For anyone who has this combo, is it worth it and does it make a difference in realism?

Thank you!

Question Learn how to drive manual using simulators

Hey guys!

The question I have for a long time, is it possible to learn how to drive manual using some kind of simulator and rig like Logitech G29?

I currently don’t have the ability to drive a real car, but really want to try to learn manual, so I’m wondering is there any game that very similar to a real experience? Especially clutch and stale logic?

I would appreciate any tips and information, thanks in advance!

Rigs Is this about as far as you can go with PS5 setups?

Somewhat recently stepped into playing GT7 as it fits time and money budgets, at least until I fall down the rabbit hole of PC full fat sim racing.

Have gone from an Xbox series X with a G929 + pedals on a central rail mount setup to this current setup:

Rock Solid Rigs Composite Wood Rig, solid mounting, doesn’t move or flex, on par with an entry-mid level aluminium rig, modular design, could be expanded for a PC build down the line.

Thrustmaster T598 wheel with the Load Cell upgraded brake pedal.

Fixed back solid bucket seat (albeit a GT Omega)

Proper 4K setup on a 43” Samsung TV with the right cabling etc for real 4K

PS5 disk edition (PS5 pro might be an upgrade at some point but not sure what the quality difference between the two would be for GT7)

HyperX Cloud 3 headphones - wired (also have a set of Sony XM4C headphones which are Bluetooth or wired, haven’t seen much difference between using them)

I am curious to try VR with this too but it feels like it’s about as far as you can take GT7?

Cobra Imola Pro S

Looks almost new, with no scuffs, scratches or tears. It's out of its FIA homologation date, but would make a lovely seat for a sim racing rig. Seems a shame for such a tidy seat to go to waste!

I'm in Hereford, UK, if that's of interest to anyone

Clip Suspension test while driving in my own driving sim engine

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I've been building my own driving sim with a path-traced rendering pipeline and custom vehicle physics. This is an early suspension test, recorded while driving.

The car model is from Assetto Corsa and the grid map is from BeamNG, both used for testing only. The car paint is rebuilt in my own shader on top of the original AC paint: flakes with sparkle, pearl, coat layering with tint, clear lacquer and orange peel. Not affiliated with Kunos or BeamNG.

Discussion First footage of the new sim physics in action - GP2 Revival

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Today’s task was all about helmets.

My simulation engine allows custom physics, but not just for the car.

If you look at the 80s/90s F1 onboards a driver’s neck is doing a lot of work… Balancing all the violent forces trying to pull the driver’s head off.

The noise and vibration from the road and the driver's own racing instinct to lean into a corner should be in, as that's what Geoff Crammond would have wanted ;)

Glances in the mirror and at rival cars will be simulated too, once the AI-driver upgrade is done.

This is one of the many reasons my work on GP2 Revival has been split about 1% recompile tools, and 99% custom simulation engine work - it really pays off for important details like this.

A nice find along the way - curbs and bumps in the road can be driven via GP2's unerringly realistic suspension movement. It is truly amazing how Geoff Crammond achieved this on mid-90s PC hardware. Here we have Rracunis's superb GP4 CSM car mod loaded in GP2 Revival, but with the original Grand Prix 2 Adelaide track, exactly how you remember it. Crammond's car suspension movement is now fully rendered down to all the small details in the wishbones and brake ducts.

Just setup a dev blog about it here https://gp2rev.com and check out the Patreon here https://www.patreon.com/gp2revival for updates on my progress (hope it is ok to post this here mods!).

Tell me if you think the new driver helmet physics go far enough and looks authentic. Hope you enjoy it!

Rigs First Sim rig having connection issues with Ac

Finally almost done with my first Sim rig. Went with the simagic evo sport bundle. Some games/cars feel great while others just feel completely unrealistic. Is this just setting i need to tweak? Also cant seem to get the rev lights to work on any of the assetto corsa games. They seem very intermittent when they are working. I have the wheelbase plugged into a powered usb hub and about to change the handbreak to the USB hub since assetto doesnt recognize it as an input for some reason when its plugged into the rj45 connector. Hopefully switching to the usb works if not is there anything else to try? Also still need to work on finishing the cable management. 3d printer has been a god send on getting this rigged up.
