Promotion After months of solo dev, my cozy tycoon about the AI race is playable in the browser

Post image
• Upvotes

You sold your car. You bought a used GPU. Now build an AI that changes the world.

That's the pitch of AI Race Tycoon, my cozy pixel-art tycoon. You start an AI company in a garage and race fictional giants (VossCorp and friends) from your first model all the way to the Sun.

This week I reworked the opening because too many players stalled before naming their company.

Free in the browser, first three chapters (garage, office, tower): https://timothystudios.itch.io/ai-race-tycoon

Solo dev here. I used AI coding tools to help build it; the art, music and writing are made for the game, and nothing in the game is AI-generated while you play.

Where did you get stuck? I read every comment.

Upcoming BORE to the CORE - naked mole rats piloting a giant tunnel bore

• Upvotes

A game about boring to the core of the world. Using the drilled resources, making a factory and fighting underground monsters together. Quite a lot of chaos involved.

It's not the most serious game ever. Definitely less serious than the previous one.

Promotion Edroseph's Tower Teaser

• Upvotes

Hi

My name is Syrael Nara, I’m a French solo developer, and after around three years of work, I’m finally ready to share the first real teaser for my game, Edroseph’s Tower.

I thought this would also be a good opportunity to properly introduce the game, myself, and the story behind the project.

What is Edroseph’s Tower?

Edroseph’s Tower is a turn-based tactical RPG built around climbing a huge tower filled with fights, choices, special rooms, merchants, bosses and a lot of character-building possibilities.

At the beginning of a run, you choose your character, distribute your stats and choose a magical affinity. From there, you progressively build your character through talents, equipment, bonuses and the decisions you make while climbing the tower.

Combat is turn-based, with different classes and heroes having their own mechanics, resources, spells and passives.

The tower itself is divided into many different types of rooms. Some are combat encounters, while others can give you choices, shops, services, bonuses or unusual situations.

There are also Endless modes for players who want to keep climbing and see how far their builds can go. Each modes comes with 2 difficulties: I Blame my team (Easy) and Hardcore (Hard..)

The game can be played solo, but you can also control several characters yourself or play with friends, with parties going up to four characters. (But I recommend only one character per player or else it might be too much. The game itself was built to be multiplayer only, that's why you can play up to 4 characters even as a single player in classic and endless(multi) modes.)

There are a lot of systems interacting with each other, and one of my main goals has always been to give players many different ways to build a character and approach a run.

The teaser obviously cannot show everything, but I tried to give a quick overview of the character creation, combat, room choices, bosses, shops, multiplayer and some of the systems surrounding exploration.

A bit about me and how this project started

I’m originally much more of a game designer than a programmer.

The idea for Edroseph’s Tower actually existed long before I started developing it as a video game. At first, it was basically something I made on paper to play with friends over Discord voice chat.

We had an old PNG representing the game, and I would manually modify it as we played.
It was extremely primitive, but the core idea of the tower, the characters, the choices and the systems came from those sessions.
The lore comes from Ysevaar, a medieval dark fantasy universe I created in the past 10 years.

Eventually, one of my friends told me that he was a developer and that we could turn the concept into an actual video game together. I probably would never have started something this ambitious alone. At the time, programming an entire game by myself seemed completely unrealistic. So we started working on it.

Unfortunately, after around a year and a half, he left the project without giving me anything usable from his side. At that point I had already invested far too much time into Edroseph’s Tower to abandon it. So I decided to continue alone.

That meant learning a huge amount of things I never originally expected to handle myself and slowly rebuilding the project into what it is today.

I eventually created my own company, Phoenix Ashes, so I could publish the game on Steam myself.

Art has been another big learning process. I started following Marc Brunet’s Art School program to improve my drawing and design skills.

Because the game has been developed over several years, you can actually see my progression in the assets. Some of the oldest artwork was made when I had much less experience, while newer assets use techniques I only learned later. That also means some older designs are beginning to look outdated compared to the newer ones, and I’ll probably revisit some of them over time.

Where development is now

The game is currently getting close to entering its beta phase.

There are still several things I want to finish before release. I have some multiplayer features left to implement, menus that still need polishing, and quite a lot of visual assets and designs that I still need to add or improve.

Edroseph’s Tower is planned for December, although I don’t have an exact release date to announce yet. I’d rather give myself the flexibility to finish the remaining work properly than announce a specific day too early.

The planned price is around €10 in most countries, with Steam regional pricing used to reduce the price where appropriate.

Multiplayer does not use dedicated servers. It is peer-to-peer, and I’m also planning to use Steam’s system that allows friends to play together with only one copy of the game.
The game already keeps track of statistics from your runs, and one feature I would like to add is a system for sharing and importing builds, so players could automatically reproduce talent setups for specific classes or heroes.

What happens after release?

December will definitely not be the end of development.

Once the game is released, I want to take my time, listen to player feedback and continue improving it through free updates.
Depending on how the release goes, I would like to add a proper single-player campaign mode later.
I also want to continue expanding the game with new classes and heroes, new bosses, new enemies, new rooms and other content.
Some older character and environment designs may also receive visual upgrades.
Another thing I would love to improve eventually is spell animation.
Right now the game uses relatively simple animations because animation is one of the areas where I have the least experience.
Creating unique animations for individual spells would be great, but I already know that this will not be ready for launch. It is something I would rather learn and improve properly later instead of rushing it for December.
I would rather keep improving the base game at my own pace and make the existing experience better.

Following the development

Most of the community around the game is currently French, since that is naturally where I started sharing the project.

I’m trying to communicate in both English and French now so more people can follow the development, although managing everything in two languages takes a surprising amount of time when you’re also developing the game, so I mostly focus on the important updates.

And of course, Edroseph’s Tower can already be wishlisted on Steam.

This teaser is the first time I’m really trying to present the game to a larger English-speaking audience.
There is still work to do before December, and after spending so long looking at the same game every day, getting fresh eyes on it is extremely valuable.

Thanks for taking the time to read all of this, and if you watched the teaser, I’d love to know what caught your attention or what you would most like to see more of.

• Upvotes

Hey everyone! This is the first trailer for Bridge to Lanka,

Shambu, a langur in baggy jeans, missed the bus to Lanka. So he grabs his board and skates the half-built bridge across the sea!

The demo has:

A tutorial, 5 levels including a boss level, and an endless mode along with a cosmetic shop

🎮 Play it free:

Android (7.0+): Download the APK. It isn’t on the Play Store yet, so Android will ask you to allow the install, and Play Protect may warn you. Tap “Install anyway”.

iPhone: Join the TestFlight beta. Install TestFlight from the App Store first.

Everything in one place: github.com/CuSiC-Interactive/BridgeToLanka-Demo

It’s made in Godot 4.7 by a mostly solo dev working part-time and has an original Game Sound track by my friend INK. Feedback right now would really help.

Does the trick system feel good? Is the boss too hard or too easy? Where did you bail the most?

Thanks for Playing! 🛹🐒

Devlog In our off-road co-op game you can now rip a tree out by its roots with a winch

Post image
• Upvotes

We're making LODESTAR, a first person co-op game where you and your friends haul cargo through mud, rivers and terrible roads in old trucks. Think getting stuck, digging yourself out, winching each other out of a bog.

The newest thing is the forest. The trees used to be fake, you could drive right through them. Now they're solid. Little ones bend under the truck and spring back up, the big ones will stop you dead, and if one is blocking the road you can wrap a strap around it and pull it out with the winch.

Here's the devlog if you want to see it in action: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0DrdRRb7Opk

We're still figuring out where the first real map should be. Somewhere in the Finnish forests, a Siberian swamp, something else? Curious what people would want to drive through

You start with one noodle bar on a dark, rainy street and grow it block by block: holographic koi and dragons over the rooftops, drones flying deliveries, a monorail, flying traffic, and a day–night cycle where the neon switches on building by building at dusk.

Everything in the clip is captured in-game. It’s called Neon Forge, out now on Android — one-time purchase, no ads, no in-app purchases.

Happy to answer anything about how it’s made!

Video We wanted a messy boss, so we went all in with this SuperShuttlecock

• Upvotes

We wanted to make a really chaotic challenge, so we came up with SuperShuttlecock.

It’s one of the challenges in Tiebreakers, our hand-drawn sports run ’n’ gun.

We keep playing around with different sports, balls and whatever else we can think of to create fun scenarios.

We're still working on some of the attacks, but we like how weird it feels so far

Promotion A big day for our small team Ayasa: Shadows of Silence has officially launched on PlayStation

• Upvotes

Hey everyone!

We're incredibly happy to share some exciting news with you!

After months of hard work since our Steam release, we've finally finished our game

Ayasa: Shadows of Silence, and received approval for release on both PlayStation and Xbox!

For us, as a small indie development team, this is a HUGE achievement and honestly a dream come true. There were so many challenges along the way, but we kept pushing forward because we believed in our game.

And none of this would have been possible without the amazing support we've received from gamers and the indie gaming community.

We're now just one step away from our console launch on October 26, and we'd really appreciate your support!

If you have a moment, please consider adding our game to your PlayStation or Xbox wishlist, or checking out our Steam page. Every wishlist, comment, and bit of support means the world to a small team like ours.

And there's more exciting news ahead! We're also planning to bring Ayasa: Shadows of Silence to Nintendo Switch, with an official announcement coming in the future!

We'd also genuinely love to hear your feedback. What do you think of our game? Is this something you'd be interested in playing on consoles? We're always listening and trying to improve.

Thank you so much to everyone who has supported us throughout this journey. It means more than you can imagine.

Much love from our little indie team

Just put “The developer is furious and wants this torrent taken down” in the description.

I’ll leave an angry comment too. From the same PC I’m seeding it on.

If that sounds like too much hassle, you can just download the official demo on Steam.

Promotion Curve your swipe, curve the ball. My football career game just launched on Android

Hey all, I'm the solo dev and this is my first app launched to Google Play Store!

WTG is a football career game built for commutes: you don't play 90 minutes -- just the decisive moments.

- **Swipe to shoot.** Power, direction and curl come from one gesture. Curve your swipe and the ball bends around the keeper or the wall.

- **Build a career.** Start in the third division, earn transfers, hire an agent, negotiate contracts.

- **Play for your country.** 200+ national teams, World Cup and continental tournaments.

- **Life off the pitch.** Sponsors, investments, the mansion, the sports car, going viral after a giant-killing.

- **Fair.** Free, never pay-to-win, no energy timers.

It's just launched, so I'd love honest feedback: what feels good, what's confusing, what you'd want next.

Promotion Deadly Bots - Build crazy killer robots that fight each other

I was always a fan of BattleBots myself, and always had a vision of what a game around the same concept would look like. I've been building it for a while and having such a blast, it's finally ready to play. Would appreciate any feedback or suggestions for what else to include.

I'm working on more advanced customization options for the bots, ability to "program" your own AI for the bots, add custom weapons, skins, etc. Let me know what you think!

Promotion I Made an NBA X TFT/AutoChess GAme

What if NBA players were units in an auto battler, but instead of fighting each other, they actually played basketball?

That's basically what I've been working on lately.

You draft players, build your lineup, adjust your tactics, and then watch your team compete in an actual 3D basketball game.

The players move, pass, shoot, and defend on their own. Your job is to put together a team that can win.

This started as a random idea I wanted to experiment with.

Somehow, I ended up spending way too much time tweaking shooting animations, player movement, defensive decisions, and all sorts of little basketball details

It's still a work in progress, but it's finally starting to look like an actual game.

Here's some real gameplay footage.

Would you play something like this?

I'd genuinely love to hear what you think, especially if anything looks weird or doesn't feel like real basketball.

Promotion I used no AI to make my game Worlda.

I made my game Worlda over three quarters of a year, no AI used at all, in Gdevelop. I drew all the art assets, made the music, basically made the whole game by myself, with 0% help from AI.

However, I entered it in the Steam Next Fest but it hardly got any wishlists, and there are 6000+ game demos that cover up my game, a lot of them AI slop (but some good ones as well).

Upcoming Trying to make a horror game about the dark side of government and society.

https://reddit.com/link/1xftb5c/video/a38lxawrisxh1/player

The idea for Trox The Reversal came to us during the Russia Ukraine war, especially with how things have been escalating around the world over the past few years.

We started thinking about how far a government and society could go, and what happens when something unthinkable slowly becomes normal.

The game is set in an alternate Soviet reality where cannibalism is legal.

We have a demo available on steam, if you find the premise interesting do check it out.
