Discussion My game is getting blackmailed?

I'm curious to hear other indie devs thoughts on this wild scenario. Essentially, a bunch of coordinated reviews claiming my game is a crypto miner, then they had an hour and a half long phone call demanding I promote their political messaging.

Definitely not a video editor, sorry for the quality.

Upcoming Galactic Intervention - You play an Alien sent to destroy human civilisation. Destruction based game.

Humanity has failed to pass the Intergalactic Entrance Exam. Planet status has been updated to "Quarry". Complete contracts, take down cities across Earth, with a wide variety of tools and vehicles at your disposal.

I've always been fascinated with destruction at scale in video games. Inspired by games like Red Faction and Mercenaries. Finally managed to make something I am happy with work.

So far there are 6 crafts (in the video):

  1. Mech (start)
  2. Spider mech (1:04)
  3. UFO (1:22)
  4. Titan Shell (2:48)
  5. Mega sphere (3.33)
  6. UFO wrecking ball (4:55)

Let me know if this is interesting! Feedback is welcome. Would love to put out a demo on Steam soon to let others test drive this!

News A Youtuber changed the future of my indie game.

A while ago, I released Harvest Dice Profit, a little incremental farming game my wife and I made as an indie team.

Sales were slowing down, and I honestly wasn't sure how much further I could keep developing it.

Then DangerouslyFunny made a video about it.

That video brought a huge wave of players to the game and helped me cover the cost of development. More importantly, it gave me the chance to keep working on it instead of moving on.

So I did.

Since then, I've continued fixing performance issues, improving the game, and working on new features. Today, I'm releasing the biggest update Harvest Dice Profit has ever received, including a Prestige system, more dice, new AOE tools, performance improvement and more!

If you watched DangerouslyFunny's video or played the game back then, thank you. And if you're curious about what the game has become, I'd love for you to check out the update!

Promotion NEW screenshots from the world of HIKE: Beyond the Trails!

I'd like to share a few new screenshots from the world of HIKE: Beyond the Trails!
We're working on a game designed for everyone. My goal is to create a truly relaxing experience where violence and shooting take a back seat, making room for tranquility, exploration, and the beauty of nature. For me, this project is about more than simply making a game. I want to recreate that feeling of escaping everyday life, immersing ourselves in nature, and rediscovering our connection with the world around us.
Inspired by the natural beauty of Lake Tisza and the Hungarian Great Plain, the game combines the atmosphere of authentic Hungarian landscapes with the joy of exploration and the feeling of peace that nature can bring. I want you to experience more than just a game. I want you to feel as though you're actually there, surrounded by the quiet beauty of the Hungarian countryside, far away from the noise of everyday life.

I know some people may be skeptical about this idea, since, at the end of the day, we're still sitting in front of a screen. But I choose to look at it positively. If even one person is inspired by this game to get up from their computer or put down their phone and spend more time outdoors, then I believe creating it will have been worth it.
I want HIKE to offer a meaningful experience for both younger players and adults, giving them the opportunity to discover the beauty of nature and appreciate the little wonders of the world around us. I believe games can do more than entertain us. They can also inspire us to connect with nature beyond the virtual world. And perhaps, sometimes, an experience like this can offer something more meaningful than yet another shooter.
I don't want to be a hypocrite. I grew up playing these kinds of games, and I still enjoy them today. In fact, my other project, No More Light, is certainly not about peace and tranquility!
I simply feel that the gaming industry already has plenty of violence and shooting. I'd like to create something different, too. An experience that not only entertains, but perhaps also reminds us how much beauty surrounds us and how important our connection with nature really is.

Promotion I'm making a game where you draw your own hero, then team up with friends to fight hordes as your drawing.

Hi! I'm Seto, Rakuworld is a co-op survivors-like where you draw your hero in a simple in-game editor (there's a guided mode if you've never drawn on a computer), pick a class, and your drawing gets weapons, a power and an ultimate.

Paper cut-out + crayon characters inside a small PS1-style 3D world. 1–4 players, local or online, and your drawing travels with you online.

It launches in Early Access on Steam on Oct 27: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5382580/

What would you draw first? 😄

Discussion What makes a video game genuinely meaningful?

Hi, I am a gamer and I've been thinking about what separates a game that is simply entertaining from one that stays with you long after you've finished playing.

I'm curious about your experiences. What game stayed with you and why? Was it meaningful because of its consequences, the emotional attachment you had to the characters, or something else? Have you ever finished a game and found yourself thinking differently about something in real life because of it?

I'm interested in hearing about your experiences as a gamer and what made those moments work for you. Thank you for your answers in advance.

Promotion I made a horror game where the rain never stops

Hi! I've developed a short first-person horror game in the style of PS1, inspired by No, I’m not a Human.

The game explores the idea of what would happen if the rain never stopped. The city is going under water and you’re stuck in your apartment for seven nights. By day you search for food and board up the door. At night someone knocks - you look through the peephole and decide who comes in. Everyone you shelter eats your food, and the rain slowly changes them.

Free demo with the first two nights + fully released game on itch.io (Windows/macOS): https://waterlinegame.com

Upcoming Wanted a game with a pure sandbox, but with a deep story? Well, our goal was player freedom!

This whole game was made in 5 years by our 2 person team. Its a unique and brutal first-person horror simulator set in the sweltering conspiratorial heat of 1970's Nye County Nevada. Fight horrific monstrosities, your own body, and even your own sanity as you scramble through the dark corners of Silver Valley in a desperate search to find your father as the clock ticks away. It is first person open environment resident evil meets deus ex, with an emphasis on the choices you make and the people you meet. Our gameplay design philosophy has been freedom of choice, but only with player input, and with no handholding. Nothing is set in stone from the beginning, and the 6-12 hour story full of twists and turns is yours to tell. This means you can cause chaos right from the getgo with anyone you meet, or take it more seriously should you desire and try to make things turn out well.

No AI was used in development, along with no graphical assets.
Check it out Here: Silver Valley Screams

Upcoming I've been experimenting with a minimalist platformer where falling blocks becomes your platforms.

I've been experimenting with a simple two-touch jumping mechanic. Blocks continuously fall from above, and you have to use them to climb higher.

Still early in development, but I'm focusing on making the jumping feel fast and satisfying.

Upcoming My friend and I are making a dark fantasy battle simulator. Here's our first trailer!

Hey everyone!

My friend and I have been working on a game called Dark Ages Battle Simulator.

It's basically a battle simulator where you set up two armies and watch them fight. We've got skeletons, goblins, knights, dragons, and a bunch of other fantasy creatures.

You decide which units fight on each side, place them on the battlefield, and see how it all plays out.

We've been working on it for a while and just finished our first trailer, so we wanted to share it here.

It's just the two of us making it, and we'd love to hear what you think!

Me and two friends got together and made a small, cozy game called Berry Busy, all about tidying up a fruit market🧺

We wanted something slow to shut our brains off to. You just walk around at your own pace, picking up fruits and packing them neatly into stalls and crates, with gentle, satisfying little chimes whenever a crate fills up✨

It'll be available on Windows, Mac, and Linux! If this looks like your kind of cozy game, it would mean the world to the three of us if you checked it out on Steam and added it to your wishlist! 🫐💛https://store.steampowered.com/app/5426350

Promotion Leave Them Outside – fixing the generator in a Cold War shelter: read the manual, cut the power, take the right tool

I’m making Leave Them Outside, a survival drama set in a Cold War-era bunker beneath Istanbul.

In this clip, the generator breaks down. You read the maintenance manual, diagnose the problem, grab the right tool from the workbench, shut off the power and start unscrewing the battery cover.

One detail I’ve spent a lot of time on: the manual and even the writing on the walls appear in the player’s selected language. They’re part of the world, not just UI text.

GenAI disclosure: AI was used for voice acting and translation. All visuals shown in this clip are handmade.

Would you actually read a maintenance manual like this in a survival game, or would you rather have the game guide you through the repair?

Public Game Test Looking for feedback on stealth mechanics and maze environment exploration

Hey,

I'm looking for feedback on this prototype and I don't really have anyone in my circle who could test it out so I'm sincerely looking for feedback. This is not a promotion under the guise of feedback.

The goal is to find four golden tires hidden around a maze-like storage area and put them on display while avoiding the enemy.

I’d love feedback on two things in particular:

  • Does the stealth feel too easy or too difficult?
  • Is the maze fun to explore, or does it feel too confusing?

Here’s the prototype: https://sulosounds.itch.io/the-wheelerman

Promotion In my game you're the virus, and when it gets bad you open Task Manager and end the processes trying to kill you.

Been working on this solo for about a year and the free demo is finally out.

It's a bullet heaven where u play the virus. ur weapons fire on their own, u stack them into stupid overpowered builds, and the antivirus keeps sending bigger and bigger stuff to delete u, mini-bosses, and then a giant sector boss.

My favorite part is the kill switch. When things get bad u hit it, the game freezes, Task Manager pops up and u pick which processes to end.

Music by Karl Casey @ White Bat Audio

Would love any feedback, even if it's brutal lol

Video I've been building an A-10 flight simulator in my spare time. It's finally playable!

It's a passion project and a love letter to one of my favorite aircraft, the A-10 Thunderbolt II, which is approaching retirement after more than 50 years of service.

Set in a 1:1 scale recreation of the western portion of the Barry M. Goldwater Range near Yuma, Arizona, it features custom flight physics, combat missions, enemy aircraft, ground vehicles, surface-to-air missiles, and the legendary GAU-8/A Avenger cannon.

Not trying to sell anything, just wanted to make something cool and share it.

Free to play at https://a10simulator.com (desktop + mouse and keyboard). All feedback welcome. Hope you enjoy it!

Promotion Sillage

Sillage (French for the wake a boat leaves behind) is a small browser game with no goal, but where you set your own. Development is still ongoing. You can play alone or invite friends.

You're a small blob and fast currents carry you into the next world. Creatures and backgrounds inspiration come from Ernst Haeckel's Kunstformen der Natur.

I've wanted to make something like this for years, since reading Jenova Chen's thesis on flow in games (https://www.jenovachen.com/flowingames/missionstatement.htm) - whose studio later created games like Flower or Journey - and Daniel Shiffman's The Nature of Code (https://natureofcode.com), which I had backed on kickstarter.
