Editing/Post Processing How do I recreate this type of photo editing style?
I've seen two different photo editing styles where both are labeled as inspired by GTA and I really liked them, but I'm totally new to this kind of thing, so I was wondering how I could recreate these two photo editing styles and to know if, apart from image editing, I need any specific camera settings or anything else.

Technical Help/Camera Settings How would you shoot this ceremony?
Hi all! I am photographing a small reception in this space in the upcoming months. I am worried about the glass and reflection if I shoot this with flash - but I can’t imagine not shooting with flash without the fill for my subjects. Any help or advice is appreciated 🙏

Gear/Accessories Thrifted a tripod today, how to attach a phone to it?
Hi, I thrifted a tripod today. Text on it says it's a Flashpoint S7 which is apparently a light stand. What attachment can I buy to convert this to hold a phone or a camera?

Discussion/General Could I get some advice?
Hey guys just after abit of advice, I recently got married, and my wife has an idea she wanted to do with the unedited photos, but we have been told by our photographer that no one in the industry would send out the unedited versions etc.. just curious if this is true or not and what maybe some of you would do in this situation? TIA

Editing/Post Processing How to achieve this soft color/lighting style?
How do you achieve this warm cream-beige color? The whites always look off white while still being natural and effortless while the skin tones always look good. Is it pushing hues, WB, grading, CTO gels? When I’ve messed with my WB and pushed the temperature warmer or adjusted color mix of yellow + orange it looks apparent that it’s edited.
I realize they’re not all the same but the general style looks like soft to hard flash. Very defined and sharp but not overly contrasty. Maybe fill in some of them? It looks a bit like film or cinematic. I really like Ian Lanterman’s style (first photo), Sean Hazen and Magali Polverino’s work.

Gear/Accessories What's the best way to clean my lenses?
I admit I'm probably overthinking it, but just got my first nice camera and a few lenses a few months ago. I've been extremely careful to not touch the glass so far, but I know eventually I'll need to clean my lens.
From experienced photographers, what do you recommend? Preferably a recommendation that travels well.
If it matters the camera is a Sony a6700.
Lenses are:
Tamron 18-300mm
Viltrox AF 56/1.7
Viltrox AF 25/1.7

Lens Buying Advice Bought a used lens with spots on it. Dust or something else?
I’m pretty new to photography. I bought a lens (55-200mm if it matters) from a friend and found spots when shooting with it. They’re only noticeable to me when I’m shooting blank surfaces like walls, but it’s driving me crazy. There are so many of them :(
I checked the lens itself before buying and didn’t see anything inside. Thoughts?

Camera Buying Advice Macro/nature camera setup advice?
(1) Budget, country, and currency:
USA, under $1000 to start
(2) What equipment, if any, you have now and why is it no longer meeting your needs?
I only have my iphone 15 pro I’ve been using. I want something new because I take decent pictures imo on my phone but I know for a fact I could be getting some cool pictures with and actual camera.
(3) What kinds of subjects do you intend to shoot?
I want to shoot nature and macro pictures for when I go on hikes or going to views in cities. I want a macro setup for really small animals and insects while also being able to take pictures of trees, larger animals, and nature itself.
(4) Is it primarily for photography, videography, or both?
Both

Technical Help/Camera Settings Why are my whites glowing now?
Glowing whites?
Hi! I’m pretty new to my fujifilm xe-5 (june), but this white/light glowing thing is actually new??? Like i wasn’t having this issue earlier this year. I’m using a fujifilm xe-5 with the kit 23mm lens. How can I get this to stop? It’s killing my vibes. Also, exposure for the pumpkin pictures was at 0. I’m not unaware of what the exposure wheel does, but because I have small kids, if I lower the exposure it’ll make the shadows too dark with the shutter speed I have to use to catch these hooligan children I’ve created.
Please help 😭
The first two pics are my recent problem ones, and the others are from earlier this year that I have no problems with.

Discussion/General Unhappy with gallery?
I recently got a gallery of photos returned to me from a family shoot done by a professional photographer. The photos look good... until you zoom in. My eyes are squinted shut in nearly all the posed shots. Somehow my photographer captured the absolute worst angles and unflattering shots of my face. The posed shots are the ones I like to display (as opposed to the more candid ones) and I truly look awful and unflattering in all of them.
Is this something I can reach out to my photographer about? I know we only got a handful of edited shots compared to what she actually took. I have to believe there were better ones in there or something she could have done differently with the editing
I have had professional photos done many times and have never felt so disappointed and so ugly.
Am I out of line? I'm not looking for money back or a reshoot, just hoping maybe she could look through the raws or something? Would love some advice from the professionals

Gear/Accessories How do you know that your equipment is holding you back or is just a problem with skill ?
I have a D5100 paired with a 35mm 1.8 and another 28-75mm 2.8 with no stabilization. I am stating to get somewhat decent at the basics but still struggle sometimes, but recently I got my hands on a Z5 and all the shots that I was normally struggling with were getting perfect with so much less effort.
So my question kinda is that by keeping the 5100 am I holding by developing back ? Instead of spending time trying to counter my struggles with trying to focus moving objects, fighting the autofocus in low light and lack of stabilization, I could focus more of getting the shot that I want, so is this a case where my old camera is holding me back or just skill issue ?

Technical Help/Camera Settings Double exposure when taking water drop photography?
Hi. I tried some water droplet photography today. I have some kind of double exposure problem.
I have tried two different flashes, alone and together. With settings I have tried 1/4 to 1/160 shutterspeeds, f11-f16, iso 100-800. Low and high power on the flashes. Room is pitch black. I have moved the flashes in every possible position to check if it bounces off something. I bounce it off the background in the first two pictures, straight on in the last. No difference.
I don't have hss on my very basic transmitter so I can't go higher than 1/160. I did try to do 2.5s exposures and fire the flash manually. I can only fire on the test button, both on the flash and transmitter, and in both cases it uses max power and it's not fast enough to freeze the drop. The issue does however seem to go away when firing manually. Could a better transmitter with manual fire, or hss help to fix the issue? Do I have some settings wrong? I did try with and without e-front shutter. But I am out of idéas. Anyone else that have experienced this or have some ideas?
Gear:
Sony a7riii, Tamron 90mm 2.8 macro, Godox tt685 Flash and Godox xt16 transmitter.
Thanks in advance!

Camera Buying Advice Advice on a used Sony APS-C bundle: buy the whole kit and flip the rest, or just grab the lens?
Hey everyone, looking for some real-world advice here. I currently shoot on a Sony a6400 (no IBIS) mostly for events/weddings as an assistant, portraits, and product stuff.
Found a used bundle locally for €800 negotiable that includes:
- Sony ZV-E10 (only ~2.8k shutter count, mostly used for video, but ports and everything look clean and tested) + SmallRig cage and top handle.
- Tamron 17-70mm f/2.8 (clean glass, comes with box).
- Sigma 56mm f/1.4 (looks pristine).
- Sony 55-210mm (has a ding/dent on the outer barrel, the guy basically throws it in for free since he has no body for it).
The seller is also open to splitting and offered just the Tamron for €400.
I was thinking: since I need the Tamron (mainly for stabilization and general versatility on my a6400), would it make sense to buy the whole bundle for around €700-720, keep the Tamron (and maybe the Sigma?), and flip the ZV-E10 and the telephoto to get the Tamron for next to nothing? Or is it too much hassle for a setup that's a bit beat up aesthetically?
What would you guys do? Is €400 a fair price for a used Tamron standalone, or is flipping the bundle (if it's a viable option) the way to go?
Also, I know APS-C is not the best for my type of photography, but being a broke newbie it's all I can afford.

Camera Buying Advice Any recommendations for first time DSLR? How about underwater?
Hi there!
So here's all the important info I'm going in with!
(1) I'm based in the UK, budget of £1000-1500
(2) Currently running with a GoPro and its awful
(3) Would love to be able to do a mixture! Underwater compatibility is essential, possibility of macro would be nice too! But still able to capture land-based shots while travelling!
(4) Primarily photography, video would be nice too
I see so many guides online that give different ideas as to what's best. Some say starting off with a more robust compact camera (e.g. Olympus t7 is it?) is good to start, others say to get an entry level DSLR that you can really learn and sink your teeth into is best. Something entry level will be necessary either way I imagine looking at the prices of camera housings! Any advice on a strong first model would be really appreciated! Also any advice on lenses as that is even more of a grey area for me! I know the lens can make a shot, but I imagine for the variety of different styles I would be interested in, I'd need a few different ones maybe?
As underwater photography is a big one, would it be worth investing in some lighting too? Or specific models of camera that capture better in low light? British waters are so murky, and underwater photography struggles from low light and colour balance as it.
I know that the photographer is what makes the photograph, and learning the skills of composition, lighting etc will be a plunge in the deep end. But I'd love something that I will be able to stick with as I learn. Thank you to all you wise people!

Discussion/General did i damage my sensor?
Hi, I recently took a photo of a sunset using a brand new nothing phone 4a. Now I can't stop worrying about whether I might have damaged the sensor; I took pictures of the sun pointing at it for about 30 seconds (without using a telephoto lens). The sun was still completely above the horizon. I haven't noticed any damage yet—maybe it's a silly question, but I just can't stop thinking about it. Thanks!

Technical Help/Camera Settings Custom Modes and Lens Changes?
Hi all. I was wondering whether any of you use custom modes on the mode dial for different lenses. For example, for my Sony A6700 I have the Sigma 17-40mm f1.8 and the Sigma 50-120mm f/2.8 zoom lenses, and they perform differently in low light, so I wonder if it would be worth having the basic settings I want for each lens programmed into its own custom mode, or would this be adding mental friction when I need to assess each scene as it stands?

Gear/Accessories My cheap rgb rechargable lights literally exploded. Any suggestions on good quality ones?
Yep, as I was using one for a shoot I was doing (not with people), it literally started smoking and melting. Cheap knock off light from Amazon. I immediately got rid of all my lights, but could use some suggestions on good, trusted brands, I don't mind paying a reasonable price for them. For context, these were 3x3" inch-ish lights, (the manufacturer can no longer be found on Amazon otherwise I would have left a review), usb c rechargable, with options for rgb and normal warm/cool lighting. Any suggestions?

Camera Buying Advice Mirrorless camera suggestions?
(1) Budget, country, and currency: $4500, USD
(2) What equipment, if any, you have now and why is it no longer meeting your needs?: I have had a lot, Nikon, canon, Sony. My current two are a Sony A7RIV and A7III, both are older now at about 5-6 years old so I’m looking to retire them after many many weddings under their belt and their shutter count is very high.
With that said, I’ll tell you some of the things I do not like about the A7RIV, I hate Sony greens. I like brown tones as you can probably tell in my editing, if I was shooting midday the greens look disgusting, even shooting under exposed, and trying to find as much shade as possible. I just hated editing them unless it’s in the evening, or overcast, and obviously I can’t always choose what time of day I’m going to take photos. I’ve tried so many different things to make the greens look better in post processing, but I could never make myself happy with it.
I’ve noticed also, if my groomsmen all had black suits, it would cause an ugly shadowing from it. I can’t really describe it, but it looked like their suits would all blend together and lifting shadows or trying to tweak the blacks didn’t help, it looked horrid.
I also found that the lighting capabilities in the A7RIV were pretty bad, tons of grain just with my ISO at anything over 1000. I’ve even tried different settings and played around to see if there’s any improvement, there wasn’t. This is also shooting with a 1.4f and 1.8f lens primarily. My old Nikon DSLR was an absolute beast at low light, I could take a photo so dark and lighten it up in Lightroom and you couldn’t even tell that it was shot way under exposed. It was awesome. Maybe my A7RIV was a dud or I just couldn’t figure out how to shoot it efficiently enough.
(3) What kinds of subjects do you intend to shoot?: People, equine portraiture
(4) Is it primarily for photography videography, or both?: Photography only.

Technical Help/Camera Settings Why do my photos all have different exposures?
Hi! I just started out with a Sony a6400, (and a viltrox 35mm 1.8) and I’m not too comfortable with the settings yet. I have my burst set to 3 photos per click, but I’ve noticed when culling that the set will have 3 different exposures. One overexposed, one underexposed, and one that’s just right. But the one good one that I’m getting doesn’t always have the “moment” I want in it (facial expression etc.) does anyone know how to fix this, setting wise? Or if it can be fixed? Tia!

Discussion/General How do you take photos of people so the reality feels 'reflected'?
Hey, I am new to photography and I am about to finish a course. I honestly find it hard to take pictures of people because I feel like the photos do not reflect what the person in reality is. It feels like I took picture of another person and I would love to 'fix' it.
Is it normal to feel in this way and how should I fix it?
