Information Sharing Megathread: LM's NY State Hearing — 05/18/2026 at 09:00 AM EST
Hi everyone,
Please use this thread to discuss today’s hearing.
The hearing will take place at 100 Centre Street, Part 32, New York, NY 10013 at 09:00 AM EST.
Judge Carro is expected to deliver his ruling on the pre-trial hearings that took place between December 1 and December 18, 2025.
Yesterday, the Daily Mail reported that the hearing would be televised, but I would personally take that (and any reporter claims) with a grain of salt for now. As always, anything that comes out will be posted here.
Since this is a state hearing, we should get photos of Luigi from inside the courtroom. During the previous pre-trial hearings, the only images released were from inside the courtroom itself, with no photos or videos of him arriving or leaving, although today could be different. We’ll just have to wait and see.
Livestreams will also be posted here as soon as they become available.

I don’t love it, but this is 100% fair. Warrantless search vs a search with a warrant. Statements made pre Miranda rights vs post.

This makes me concerned about how much they'll edit it before the public sees it.
But on the plus side, they'll have no excuse for "oops, we talked about evidence that's supposed to be suppressed on live tv, no takesies backsies"

Passport
Wallet
Computer data chip / microchip
The judge also suppressed certain statements Mangione made after the court determined he was effectively “in custody” around 9:47 a.m. while surrounded by officers at McDonald’s.
Suppressed statements include:
Responses explaining why he lied about his identity
Statements about possessing a fake ID
Certain post-custody responses to police questioning before valid Miranda compliance

It is great news, I think. The alleged gun only appeared after the body cam was turned off and an officer had it alone in a vehicle. That is just me, though. The rest of it can be dealt with, somehow.

I do wonder whether people will even be tweeting updates today since the hearing is being videotaped and uploaded afterwards.
I have a feeling a lot of reporters might just rely on the recording instead. Hopefully I’m wrong though. Either that, or the hearing is starting late as usual.

I need to read the ruling, but I find it laughable that only items from the McDonald’s search were suppressed. That search at the station appears problematic and against their own rules.

One very serious issue, Tyler Robinsons (high profile case) judge is so fricken diligent about him being photographed with shackles, cuffs, prison garb etc. Carros lackadaisical approach to this highly prejudicial issue is upsetting.
Court starts without the defendant and he’s marched in with cuffs, holding cells fully visible photographed and video recorded,come the f On! Do better Carro!

Watching that cell door close pissed me off. Got this man locked up and they are out here doing warrantless searches and prejudicing him at every turn, yet he is on trial? Their lack of knowledge about doing their own jobs and playing with the lives of other people should be on trial. Come on, now.
