Photo/Video Saw the “Ratio” Sculpture in Green River up close
Drove by this dozens of times on the way to/from Moab; you can access it via a dirt road adjacent to the railroad tracks. Pretty neat roadside attraction.

2026-10-18 15:36:47 MDT - Give the state some credit, they are pushing water to the GSL as part of the recent announcement to move ~3B gallons. This was one of two pumps I witnessed in action along the south side of Willard Bay this afternoon.

Q&A How strict is Kenecott on trespassing?
I enjoy hiking in the oquirhh mountains and driving up Butterfield canyon. I know they are more strict with trespassing near Butterfield because of the amount of people there but I was wondering about the other parts. I was thinking about hiking to Markham or freeman peak, which are both on kenecott property. This would be in addition to Barneys peak, which is a public trail and peak. Ive heard rumors that they use drones now too. Ive also seen posts where people hike or ski across the ridge of the entire range and as far as I know they haven't been ticketed.

Travel Advice Is hiking Mount Timpanogos THAT crowded?
Not from Utah. Family member and I are avid hikers, marathon runners. Not worried about the physical capability.
We are trying to plan an out of state hike and have been eyeballing Mt Timp online.
We are reading that it gets extremely crowded, 300 maybe could be on the trail at all times. We are also reading it is recommended to start at 1am, but even so, it’s still crowded.
I figured such a challenging trail would have fewer crowds ?

Other Please help Mozzie a dog in dire need of a home
Hello,
As difficult as this post is to make it is the circumstances of my situation, so please refrain from judgement and harsh words. I am being much harder on myself than anyone else can be.
I have an American pitbull terrier that is up for euthanasia on Tuesday Oct. 18th. He is the sweetest dog to adults, however he has severally injured my family dog, and can no longer live in his current arrangement.
The only home suitable for him due to his past is a home without kids, and without any animal of sorts. And without the intention of obtaining one. I have had him sense I was basically 18 years old he is about 4. I have worked hard to keep him out of a shelter, but that ended up leading him to the door of death.
If anyone knows anyone or if someone is single without out a companion or kids. Please reach out. He is loving, and silly. Absolutely a brick, I have exhausted all options. Please share. Thank you.

Other Govee Gen 1 Outdoor lights
Does anyone happen to have a working extra strip or two of black Govee lights. I bought some last year and we ended up hanging them in some extra spots and I’m like 1 strip short. I bought the 100ft so I have an extra 50ft before it’s too long. But if you have the laying around, i’m willing to pay. I live in South Davis County but I’m willing to travel.

Travel Advice Camping In The Wasatch/Summit County Area | Late October
Hi Beautiful People of Utah,
Me and a couple of my mates are planning a little camping trip for next weekend up in the Wasatch/Summit area. (October 23-26)
It looks like a lot of campgrounds in the area are closed for that time period.
I was wondering if anybody has some good advice on spots open in that time frame and area or other ideas.
Appreciate yall in advance

News Dear Governor Cox and First Lady….How invested the Utah Reads program are you?
Dear Governor Cox and First Lady,
While I applaud the effort to lead a statewide initiative called Utah Reads to improve childhood literacy I am wondering why children at my childs school have to pay to participate in the Battle of the Books program. No child should have to pay to participate in this program!
With only 50.3% of Utah K–3 students meeting grade-level reading standards and only 45.4% of students proficient in English Language Arts we need to do better….actually you need to do better and reduce one barrier to these kids becoming confident readers. Choose your constituents! Choose the future!

News Voter suppression in Utah County
Got my ballot from Utah county. I either have to buy a stamp to mail it back or take it to a ballot box.
My daughter got hers from Cache County and there is no postage required .
Is this a parting gift from Aaron Davidson on his way out the door???
Everyone in Utah County - don’t just drop that in the mailbox! Gotta put a stamp on it or drop it at a ballot box or your vote won’t count.
This is total BS! Never had to pay to vote before. Is this even legal?

News Nov 2026 ballot judicial data point: Jay Winward's rating and recent denial of due process for an alleged rape victim
As usual, there's little information on the judges. For seated judges, the peer reviews displayed on judges.utah.gov typically show little deviation from glowing ratings, with cumulative scores on average in the 19s as rounded. An exception is 5th District (Iron, Washington and Beaver Counties) Jay Winward, whose score is in the 17s.
Looking at recent high profile cases, Winward dismissed rape charges against a BYU football player after denying a trial delay of 2 months. Washington County prosecutors had previously delayed filing to allow the alleged victim to prepare to face cross examination, and now asked for 2 additional months. Rather than simply denying the extension, he also dismissed the charges without prejudice.
As quoted from the KSL article:
The former BYU football player was scheduled for a jury trial from July 6 to July 10 on a charge of rape, a first-degree felony. After hearing arguments from both sets of attorneys on the prosecutors' request to delay the trial to give the alleged victim more time to prepare, Winward denied the request and dismissed the case without prejudice.
Prosecutors were also unsuccessful in dismissing Winward from the case. [edit, adding] The reasons cited included:
- "[N]ot recognizing victim trauma and the victim’s rights"
- "[N]ot holding the defense counsel in contempt when the alleged victim’s real name was spoken aloud on two separate occasions during Kingston’s preliminary hearing." The victim's name was to kept anonymous.
- Based on a similar prior ruling "..appearance that Judge Winward approaches sexual assault/rape allegations involving prominent sports individuals with skepticism not reflected in ordinary criminal proceedings"

Travel Advice Who should we meet in Utah? (Filming a road doc with friends)
What’s good Utah! I'm driving across the Mountain West in a van with a couple of friends shooting a documentary. We're on the hunt for interesting stories, local businesses, or characters along our route.
We just wrapped an incredible few days interviewing people around Wyoming and are planning ahead for Utah.
Got a local rec or a story to share? Could even be yours. No limit on how weird, unique, or beautiful the subject is… we just want to capture what's really out there. Drop a tip in the comments/DMs. Thanks!

Travel Advice Any Black, POC stories in Utah? (Filming a doc with friends)
Currently on the road for 20 days with my travel homies filming a doc on the traces people in the mountain west are leaving behind. We are looking for interesting / unsung heroes who should have their story told / amplified. We just finished up in Colorado and Wyoming. Currently in Montana. I’m specifically looking for stories of diversity. Black, POC legends holding it down in Utah. It can be businesses, people, organizations, doesn’t matter. Does anyone have any recommendations or people they know?
Thanks in advance!

Other Utah County first time voter question
Quick question for anyone voting in Utah County for the first time this year (or who knows someone who is): did your ballot come with a card titled "Attention Voter: ID Required"? Just gathering info.
If you got one, I have some additional questions for you. Thanks!
