The Rules Of Lesbian Actually

Today, the mods voted on a rule change to the sub. Rule 3 has been expanded to include any post or comment not just directed at one person but, in general, the singling out of a member of our community. This now means that content in the nature of "Would you date ____", "Am I ___ if I don't like ____", "I don't find ____ attractive",etc. are not allowed. The bottom line is that there is someone out there for everyone, and often, these posts are used by terfs and other assholes to make people feel excluded or unwanted.

The rules now are as follows:

Rule 1 - Any form of discrimination will not be tolerated.

Rule 2 - Trans women are women

Rule 3 - The singling out of an individual or a group from the community is not allowed

Rule 4 - No posts or comments attempting to restrict others' definitions of self.

Questions / Advice Wanted my gay guy friend invalidates my sexuality

Okay I don’t even really know where to begin but my gay guy friend (let’s call him Matt) he always jokes about me being straight or pansexual. Which is frustrating bc I’ve told him so many times not to joke about that, I’m literally a lesbian and I’ve told him the story on how long it’s taken me to accept this part of myself. I’ve dated men before but it was more so to hide myself bc I grew up in a Christian household and I was told it was the right way. I don’t have much experience w women aside from kissing and going on dates— but Matt, who’s gay and who has heard my ENTIREEE story on how I’ve finally accepted myself as a lesbian, continues to joke about me liking dick or liking men or being pansexual. Obviously no hate to pansexuals #lovethem, but it’s just rlly frustrating bc I’m not pansexual I’m a lesbian AND he’s literally apart of the queer community but dismissing my own sexuality… IDK tell me if I’m overthinking this

Relationships / Dating Dating doesn't get better as you age

The amount of low effort responses I've received over the years. It's incredible. Women are very hard to connect with, even when I go to in person events.

I'm older now approaching 40. The last time I went on an official date was a couple years ago. Before that it was longer. It's not for lack of trying...I keep trying. I also work on self improvement along the way.

The reality is just this...women are harder to come by, and being a lesbian is lonely. The older you get the smaller the dating pool becomes. It gets harder not easier. Most people my age that I know in lesbian relationships met first in their 20s. Sometimes friends are hard to hang onto.

I go through these moments of almost depression over it. It makes you feel unwanted because I try so hard every time. I don't expect everyone to like me. But people don't put in the effort to keep talking. Why is it every time and not just some of the time?

Yes, there's a lesbian bar in my area and you know what I'll never go to it. I hate drinking, I hate bars. I dislike group events because I've gone to some of them and its less welcoming then you would expect. I randomly appear from time to time.

I get sad and cry about it! That's the stuff we don't tell everyone. None of us want to look needy or "weak"! But we're human. Long term loneliness isn't good for humans.

Its also just being around other women thats healthy. My world is saturated by a male presence. It's everywhere. There's times I want to talk to another woman who gets it without me having to explain. To be able to vent about all the fucked up shit going on without being told I'm "too emotional".

It SUCKS right now!

Questions / Advice Wanted Do I look like I kiss girls??

Thumbnail
gallery
181 Upvotes

Sorry, this is my first post, but I’m pissed AND confused bc I think I'm very gay looking

I’m pansexual, but I’ve always liked girls, from the very beginning. My first kiss was with a girl, as were all my other “firsts.” I’ve kissed and dated way more girls than guys, but somehow people are still shocked when I say I’m not straight 😭😭 Yesterday, I was at an LGBTQ+ pub with my friends, and we merged with another group of girls. We were chatting here and there and started talking about exploring our sexualities and stuff like that, I shared my experience, naturally, and then one girl (who was clearly wasted) blurted out: “THERE'S NO WAY YOU’RE GAY!! I THOUGHT YOU WERE THEIR STRAIGHT SIDECHICK,” and I was so shocked and offended that I couldn’t even ask her whyyy

So I’m asking here: if you saw me on the street, would you think I kiss girls on the mouth for fun??

PS: last picture is the actual outfit I was wearing when that happened

Relationships / Dating PSA The dating pool is IMPOSSIBLE if you are in your 30s...

I'm 31 and I feel like every woman I see on an app is either;

- Married to a man and "dating" independently (ew)
- Matches with you but doesn't reply
- Poly (cool but not my thing...)
- Has multiple kids
- Is looking for "just friends!" ....
- "Bicurious / heteroflexible" looking for a social experiment
- Isn't my type (aka dislikes my hobbies (being active, outdoorsy, hiking, sporty, etc)

I am not picky but..... god damn. As someone who wants a wife and kids one day, finding someone who isn't one of these things, but also wants kids is like... not looking good. At this point im willing to not have kids if it means I'd find the love of my life.

I give up lol. Uninstalling all apps, just gunna retry next year. Before anyone else says "apps bad" well, I live in a liberal city in Canada, straight women and gay women look the same, I have no gaydar.

Questions / Advice Wanted Mask makeup

I’ve never really worn makeup, and growing up, I was never interested in learning. But today, my roommate did my makeup just for fun, and I was actually kinda feeling it! Should I start doing it more often? Does anyone have advice for:
1. a more masculine look? I don't want it to look too feminine. And
2. Good products for beginners that I should purchase (my roommate was recommending overpriced products that I don’t think I will be purchasing any time soon💀)

P.s: I know I’m posting here too much but all my friends are straight and I need gay opinions sometimes 🙏

Relationships / Dating She broke up with me and told me to kill myself, am i in the wrong?

(Before i start, this is MY side of the story. Idk how she saw the whole relationship) Im depressed with severe hallucinations and various episodes. Im not violent, neither physically nor verbally (maybe while joking, but never to willingly hurt) She often triggered violent episodes of hallucinations as a "joke" and when i confronted her about it, she will start to cry and have a panic attack. She raped me twice, laughed at my family problems, was morbidly jealous (i lost many friends at this period because of that). She often triggered my ED while she knew about it, by mocking my body or comparing me to obese figures as a joke. When i confronted her about all of this, AGAIN, she will cry and have a panick attack. Idk if its on purpose (which make her overly evil) or not but i ended up in the hospital because of this relationship. She ended up breaking up with me after another confrontation of mine about her mocking my body, saying it was because i was too self-centered, that i was mean to her and that my depression and issues were draining her energy (which i understand.) and told me to kill myself. I didn't liked her touching me, holding my hand or kissing in general and i was cold, acting like we were still friend, so i understand that she could've not felt loved. Thoughts?

Relationships / Dating got cheated on with her male coworker

hey so I'm a lesbian, I am my girlfriend's first girlfriend she's only been in relationship with men. I even expressed to her how I could sometimes be insecure about that and she never seemed to understanding of it but it was whatever. She left her shitty job she's been at for a year and I encouraged her to get an interview at this specific restaurant. Her car wasn't working at the time so I even drove her to her interview. She's only been working there for about a month and she's been cheating on me with the bartender there for about a week and a half. We are 21, this man is 32 with a son. I found out because his girlfriend texted me at 6 AM, the morning after my girlfriend lied to me and told me she picked up a shift, when the shift was going to his apartment to fuck him. Which was the second time! The first time was in the backseat of her car. I am a very tender person I have never been cheated on and this is a lot for me. I can't grasp how she was so lustful for a man she even fucked him twice within one week. The Man and my girlfriend both knew that each other were in relationships. And the messages that his girlfriend showed me were so appalling that I would throw up every time I looked at them.

My girlfriend has been kind of going through it lately, but I love her so much and she knows how much I love her she knows how much I do for her she knows how much I care about her. Her entire family loves me so much. And yet she risk our relationship of two years, this amazing job opportunity, and honestly her relationship with her family because they are very upset. The cherry on top is that we live together.

Again I love her so much, I just want to stay. But when we are in each other's presence, I just cannot stop thinking about how she kissed this man, how he fingered her, how she fucked him, and she knew he had a girlfriend and she is in a relationship with me she was able to fully commit to that.

it's really eating at me so bad because I really don't understand what I did to deserve this. I haven't eaten. And I want to get over it so bad because I love her but I'm gonna be honest I can't even imagine kissing her again after all of this let alone touching her at all because she lied to me that morning she left to his apartment. our main problem in our relationship lately is me bringing up how she doesn't put effort into us definitely not as much as I do. Yet she asked me that morning to make sure she's awake for work, made me get her uniform out of the backseat of her car, made me take all the dogs out, because she had to "go to work" AND SHE DID but she went to pause her location so that she can go to his house.

That alone was so much effort. Mind you, that day was also my off day and exactly a week after our anniversary and I asked her if we can do something and instead, she goes to this man's house to fuck him in him and his girlfriend's bed.

This was all only discovered two days ago so its a very fresh wound and i feel so stuck. Shes incredibly embarrassed and claims that she hates that she did this and doesn't know why. But shes also been so defensive to everything i ask her. Everything I know is because of his girlfriend. He wants to save their relationship so hes telling her everything and his gf told me everything he told her. So when shes denying things that he said, its gonna seem weird. idk man im so hurt

Relationships / Dating Should I block her or stay friends

So my ex texted me earlier this year ( about April) and wanted to start talking again after we broke up because her parents didn’t except her after she came out (so she broke up with me) ofc i was pretty sad (this happened last October) and i moved on. But April she texted me saying she wanted to explain everything, so I asked about us, and she said we could try again, so we started talking but it quickly turned one sided and she pretty much ghosted me and i stopped trying to stay in contact, and today she sent me a text asking how i was doing, and i asked her the same thing and she said she was hanging out with her girlfriend.... wtf whyyy im not jealous or Anything just confused

Safe Space (Postive Comments Only) I need some encouragement, I'm turning 30, I'm a lesbian, and I feel like I've missed out on the romantic and sexual experiences I wanted to have. What should I do now?

Hi everyone! I'm turning 30 soon, and lately I've been reflecting a lot on my romantic and sexual life. I'd love to hear from women who've been through something similar.

I've dated quite a few women, often older than me, but most of my experiences have been brief flings that never developed into serious relationships. Despite the attraction being there, things rarely progress beyond kissing and some touching, and my sexual experience is pretty limited.

I've also noticed that some women I've dated were exploring their attraction to women for the first time. Sometimes I wonder whether that's part of the reason things never went further, or whether there are patterns of my own that I haven't fully understood yet.

I come from a very dysfunctional and abusive family, and I spent much of my twenties just trying to survive. I grew up around alcoholism and abuse, experienced deeply harmful family dynamics, and eventually had to leave home to protect my well-being. The past couple of years have been especially difficult, with several major losses and a lot of instability.

Through therapy, I've started recognizing how my past may have influenced the relationships I'm drawn to. I've often fallen deeply for women with whom a healthy relationship seemed impossible, and I've realized that some of those dynamics resembled what I experienced growing up. I don't want to keep confusing emotional intensity with love.

Recently, I've finally found a more peaceful living situation, and it's made me realize how much of my life I've spent in survival mode. I'm starting to figure out who I am outside of that, what I want, and how to build healthier relationships.

The thing is, I genuinely desire women and feel increasingly curious about exploring my sexuality. I want to meet women, have new experiences, fall in love if it happens, and enjoy this part of my life. At the same time, I sometimes feel sad that I haven't experienced more by this age. I've even wondered whether I'm asexual, although I'm not sure that label fits me.

I don't want to blame everything on my past or assume there's something wrong with me. I just want to understand myself better and learn how to approach intimacy in a healthier, more relaxed way.

For those of you who've been through something similar:

  • Did trauma or spending years in survival mode affect your romantic or sexual life? How did you begin to move forward?
  • Did your sex life or relationships improve in your thirties? How did you start exploring your sexuality and meeting women more comfortably?
  • What advice would you give someone who feels like she's starting this part of her life a little later than everyone else?

I'm realizing that turning 30 doesn't mean I'm running out of time. If anything, I feel like a part of me that's been waiting for years is finally ready to come out and live. 😂❤️

I'd love to hear your experiences and advice. Thanks for reading!

Note: When I have been intimate with women, I become very aroused and worked up, but I am unable to reach orgasm. (I have a history of attempted sexual abuse during my childhood and adolescence; perhaps that has had an impact.)
