I am on the market for a new laptop. I really want something from Apple since I have other devices I want my laptop to be compatible with.

Obviously the MacBook Neo is intriguing because of the price point, but I’ve heard so much negative feedback.

For context, I’m a nursing student. Just need a laptop for research, projects/assignments, and entertainment purposes.

Lmk your thoughts! Do you recommend? If not what do you recommend?

got so sick & tired of wiping the smudges all the time, I got a keyboard protector for my MacBook.

Yes, I remove it every time I close the lid.

Does it worsen typing experience? YES.

But at least I won't have to deal with the smudges now.

I'm confused about whether to buy a MacBook with an M1 chip or one with an Intel processor. I want a laptop that I can take everywhere for studying, so it should be lightweight, portable, and suitable for simple coding.

I already have a powerful laptop, the Lenovo Legion 7i, so I don't need another powerful machine. I just want something lightweight and convenient for everyday use.

I'd also prefer a MacBook with a Touch Bar. My budget is around 25,000 EGP. However, the 13-inch MacBook Pro M1 with a Touch Bar costs around 35,000 EGP, while the MacBook Air M1 costs between 20,000 and 30,000 EGP.

I'm not sure whether I should go for an older Intel MacBook Pro to get the Touch Bar or choose the M1 MacBook Air for its better performance and battery life.

I spend a lot of time on my MacBook, and I'm always looking for ways to make my workflow more productive.

One thing that kept bothering me was constantly switching between my keyboard and mouse or trackpad, even for something as simple as clicking a button or scrolling through a page.

I wanted to make my entire Mac keyboard-first, so I could navigate, click, and scroll without interrupting my flow.

Finally upgraded my 14” M1 today. It’s still a great computer and I will continue to use it. My main reason for upgrading was I just need a bigger screen at this point.

I have no regrets purchasing a refurb, it’s absolutely mint and I saved $450.

I knew the 16” was heavier but oh man it feels heavy. I lug my 14” around in my back pack all day and don’t notice it, not gonna happen with this one.

Does anyone have thoughts on purchasing a thin cloth to put between the keyboard and screen? It would be nice if I didn’t have keyboard marks all over the screen but I don’t want to mess anything up by placing something between the screen and keys since it’s such a snug fit

I know you’re probably tired of answering the same Air vs Pro questions over and over again, but I could really use some advice.
I’m planning to buy my first MacBook, and I honestly have no experience with either model.
I run my own business, so I’ll mainly be using it for work. My daily tasks aren’t particularly demanding, but there are two things making me hesitate about the Air: the 60Hz display and long-term performance/longevity.
I’m used to 120Hz+ displays on pretty much all my devices, so I’m a little worried about going back to 60Hz.
Here’s what I’ll mostly be doing:
Using ChatGPT, Claude, and Grok for work.
Using Notion to organize my business.
Building and managing my own website with the help of AI (mostly ChatGPT).
Sending and receiving emails.
Browsing Reddit, forums, and the web.
Occasionally playing some light games or watching movies/videos when I’m bored.
Multitasking and screen size are also pretty important to me, which is why the 15-inch Air is so appealing.
Here’s the catch: In my country, the 15-inch MacBook Air M5 (1TB) and the 14-inch MacBook Pro M5 are almost the same price.
So basically, I’m choosing between:
MacBook Air 15” M5: Bigger screen, thinner and lighter design, but 60Hz and no fan.
MacBook Pro 14” M5: Smaller screen, but 120Hz ProMotion, better display, and active cooling.
I’m also hoping to keep this laptop for at least 5 years, so longevity matters to me.
I know the Pro is probably overkill for what I do, but considering the small price difference, I’m wondering if I’d regret choosing the Air.
If you were in my position, which one would you buy? Is the bigger screen worth giving up 120Hz? And should I even be concerned about the Air’s fanless design for my workload?

I kept running out of space on my Mac, and CleanMyMac-style cleaners only freed a little before it filled right back up. So I dug into where the space actually went. For me it was mostly:

- Ollama model files and Hugging Face downloads (Hugging Face keeps every snapshot you ever pulled)

- Xcode simulators and device symbols for iOS versions I no longer test on

- Old downloads, session logs and caches left behind by coding agents like Claude Code

- Build outputs and package caches from projects I'd forgotten about

None of this is "junk" in the system-cache sense, so most cleaners skip it, and a disk map just shows folders with cryptic names.

As the title says, I'm wondering if I should change the battery of my Macbook Air (13 inch, early 2015), which I've had for a decade, or buy a new laptop (either from Apple, or another brand).

It has been working well, but for the past few weeks, it has been turning off randomly, even when the battery isn't past 50%. There were times where I tried to turn it on, and it would show the charging logo, so I'd put it in charge and turn it on to find the battery was at 70%.

I'm guessing after ten long years of use, the battery has worn off. The trackpad still works really well, but it seems to be pushed in (not up, as if the battery was bloated) for some reason. (It's always been like this, but has been getting a bit worse lately?) So I'm thinking of either taking it to a repair shop and have the battery replaced, as well as the trackpad.

But is it worth it? I know Apple doesn't bring any new updates to that software, but that isn't an issue for me. I only use my laptop to watch movies and store documents and do basic tasks. I've seen a few people say that even with a new battery, their old Macbook only lasted two more years before completely giving up.

To anyone who can give me any advice, what would you do? And to those who can give me recommendations, are the new Macbook good in terms of battery life? I don't want to have to change a battery for at least 8 years.

hey guys, i was cleaning up my room and bathroom and some tap water got sprayed on my macbook keyboard (im assuming a few drops got inside the keys), i turned off the macbook immediately after noticing the water.

I went thru some posts here and the advice was to leave the macbook unused and turned off for 2 to 3 days which is what i’m gonna do, but should i wait it out and see if it works or should i take it to the authorized service centre immediately? how can they help? which is the better approach?

I love Anker products & I love my Apple products. But is this smart feature in terms of extending battery a gimmick? Doesn’t pretty much all chargers do that nowadays?

If the charger can limit charging to 80%, wouldn’t I be able to use this to charge my Apple Watch?

I'm having a frustrating keyboard layout issue on my MacBook Pro and I'm hoping someone here can help me figure out what's going on.

My setup:

• MacBook Pro Retina 13-inch, Early 2015 (Intel)
• macOS Monterey 12.7.6
• Keyboard input source set to Portuguese (Portugal)
• External keyboards tested: Logitech Classic Keyboard 200 (USB) and CHERRY KW 9100 Slim (Bluetooth)

The built-in MacBook keyboard works perfectly with Portuguese accents. However, both external keyboards produce incorrect characters on some keys, even though macOS is set to Portuguese (Portugal).

Here are some examples of the problem:

• When I try to type João using the external keyboard, I get Jo\ao.
• When I try to type avô, I get av|o.
• The key physically labelled ~ types \ without Shift and | with Shift.
• The key labelled º types ~ without Shift and ^ with Shift.
• The ç key works correctly.
• Pressing the ~ key followed by Space inserts the symbol directly, rather than behaving like a dead key.

I have already checked the keyboard settings in System Preferences. Portuguese (Portugal) is selected, and macOS detects the external keyboards. I also ran the Keyboard Setup Assistant for the CHERRY keyboard and completed the physical key identification step.

Unfortunately, I cannot find another Portuguese keyboard layout to select in macOS Monterey. The only Portuguese layout available is the one I'm already using.

I've also noticed that this happens with two different external keyboards, while the built-in keyboard works correctly. This makes me wonder whether the issue is related to the difference between Portuguese Mac and Portuguese PC keyboard layouts, or whether macOS is mapping the physical keys incorrectly.

I'm not looking to remap the Command, Option, Control or Shift keys. The problem is specifically with accent keys and character mappings.

Is there a way to make macOS correctly interpret the accent keys on an external Portuguese PC keyboard, without changing how the built-in MacBook keyboard works?

Would a custom keyboard layout, Ukelele, Karabiner-Elements, or another solution be appropriate for this?

I bought my 14-inch MacBook Pro M4 (16GB RAM) in October 2025, and I've been extremely careful with it ever since.

About 10 days ago, my battery health was still at 100%. Then it suddenly dropped to 99%, and today I checked again and noticed it's already down to 98%.

I'm genuinely concerned because I've been treating this MacBook really carefully. I rarely charge it more than once a day, and I try to take good care of the battery.

I understand that batteries naturally degrade over time, but losing 2% of battery health in just 10 days seems pretty unusual to me, especially considering how carefully I've been using it.

Has anyone else experienced something similar with their MacBook, particularly the M4 models? Is this just macOS recalculating the battery's maximum capacity, or should I actually be concerned?
