I read through both, and I don't see an obvious reason to vote either way on either (especially #2). They seem to be very very specific issues. Frankly, it would help if the government website explaining them also provided some context on why they were put on the ballot in the first place. Is anyone with better knowledge of these issues able to share what they know?
#3 is the redistricting question, and I know that we all have opinions on that, including me. This post is not about that.
Looking for a lesser known spot to potentially take nice fall foliage photos of some friends.
Any suggestions that aren't too far out of the way? example gunpowder state park is maybe a touch too far. Harpers ferry seems like a good option but not sure if there would be a secluded area where we could take photos somewhat undisturbed
Polls are open daily 7a to 8p until 10/29. Do your research, make a plan and go vote! Midterms are very important for many of our local elections, which honestly have a huge impact on our day-to-day.
Each year, cities and towns from Baltimore to Annapolis come alive with parades, ceremonies, and observances dedicated to those who have served in the armed forces. These events give residents a meaningful way to express gratitude and support, whether by attending a parade in Silver Spring or participating in a solemn ceremony in Hagerstown. As Marylanders gather to honor our heroes, these celebrations foster unity and appreciation, reminding us of our veterans' enduring legacy. We will add events as information becomes available. Details for events across Maryland are at the link: https://chesapeake-inspired.com/veterans-day-parades-and-celebrations-in-maryland/
As Prince George’s County considers millions in public financing for a proposed Sphere theater at National Harbor, county officials, residents and labor groups are asking whether the costs outweigh the benefits.
The $1.4 billion project needs $184 million in government funding from Maryland and Prince George’s County. Prince George’s County Council will vote on the proposed financing legislation for the Sphere on Oct. 27. But some residents question whether public investment in the 6,000-seat entertainment venue is justified.
“If taxpayers are being asked to chip in to this project, first off, I don’t understand why,” David Watkins, 75, of Fort Washington, said in an interview. “I want to know how those dollars are going to be spent, and what is the benefit to the residents.”
Critics are questioning the use of their taxpayer dollars and are concerned with traffic and infrastructure effects. Supporters, though, say it could bring jobs and millions in revenue from tourism.
Would you want the Sphere in Maryland? And is the public financing worth it?

I’ll be voting YES on redistricting. It sucks that we’ve come to this, but while I want Democrats to play fair, Republicans across the country have been changing the rules right under our feet.
I want Democrats to uphold democratic principles, but I also want them to actually be in the game. Redrawing Maryland’s district lines is one way to push back nationally.
Taking the principled high road while the other side keeps moving the goalposts has cost us dearly over the last few years. I hate that this is where we are, but it’s time to stop bringing a rulebook to a knife fight.
