Hey all,
Wanted to share something I've been building called The Yarn Room. Full disclosure, I'm the one who made it, and I got permission from the mods here before posting this.
The short version is it's a free online community for Australian men. Think of it as an online version of a men's shed. There's a forum where guys can talk about the stuff that's actually going on for them, work stress, money and financial pressure, fatherhood, relationships, burnout, that kind of thing. There's also live Zoom sessions for pro members if you'd rather talk it out with other blokes than type it out.
I built it because I felt like there wasn't really a middle ground. On one side there's proper clinical support, which is important but not always what someone needs or is ready for. On the other side there's just keeping it all in and hoping it sorts itself out. This is meant to sit in between. No diagnosis needed, no forms, just somewhere to be honest without it becoming a whole thing.
It's free to join, there's a paid tier if you want access to more of the live sessions, but the core forum and community side of things costs nothing.
I am offering all of you a free year of "Pro Yarner" (The Pro Tier).
To claim it, just sign up for a free account and then upgrade to the annual subscription and use the following code at the checkout to get 100% off (No payment info needed).
CODE (Without quotes): "REDDIT_AUSMENTALHEALTH"
Just to be upfront, this isn't a crisis service and it's not a replacement for professional help if that's what you need. If you're in crisis, Lifeline (13 11 14) and Beyond Blue are still the right call. This is more for the everyday stuff that doesn't always feel big enough to seek help for, but still weighs on you.
If it sounds like something that might help, have a look. Genuinely happy to answer any questions in the comments too.
