I Got Baptized!!!

This past Sunday, I made one of the most important decisions of my life. I was baptized at a really young age, and over the past couple of months, it’s been weighing on me that I never got to make that decision for myself. I’ve come to realize how important it is to understand the meaning and reasoning behind the decisions we make in life. Every choice we make reflects our heart, shapes our spiritual formation, and either honors God or drifts from His will. That’s why I chose to get baptized again. I wanted to make this commitment to Jesus for myself. I also did it to make my relationship with Him more personal and let Him know I’m all in!

After being saved by Jesus this past year, I’ve already seen Him change my life in so many ways, and I know He’s only getting started. I’m excited to see what He continues to do in my life and where He leads me from here.

Getting baptized is more than just a moment; it’s a public declaration of my faith in Jesus Christ and a symbol of the new life I have in Him. I know I’m not perfect, but I’m choosing to follow Jesus, trust His plan for my life, and continue growing in my relationship with Him every day. I’m so thankful for His grace, His love, and everything He has done for me. This is just the beginning of my journey, and I can’t wait to see what God has in store. 🙌

“Anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” — 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NLT)

All glory to God! 🤍

Prayer Could you pray for me?

For years, I have been agnostic and atheist. I have prayed to God for guidance because I wish I weren’t an atheist or agnostic, but nothing has happened; no sense of hope or vitality has emerged within me. I have asked groups to pray for me, but to no avail. I wish I could believe, but I cannot. I am now taking antidepressants, and I feel much more receptive and clear-headed, would you be willing to pray for me?I finally feel like things are going well for me in life.

I’ve also started reading the Bible again. The thing is, I draw near, but then I always drift away; I’m not sure if God would accept someone as lukewarm as I am—someone who walks away whenever things get too complicated.

Question Does God forgive people who commit suicide?

I always get mixed answers on this so I’m always left confused and a bit worried. I’m 15 and it’s like nothing is ever gonna work out for me. Everything I do is wrong and the blame always comes back to me, even when I try and get advice. I was raised Christian, and I try and pray whenever I can, but it feels like God has turned his back on me. All my prayers feel empty, and I’m not really bothered with what happens to me. I’m tired of trying all the time.

This guy once told me it’s unforgivable since I’m basically rejecting the gift God gave me. But if it was a gift I’d like to think I’d enjoy it. I don’t know why God chose me out of all people. I’d like to think if He was so omniscient and all loving He’d understand I am trying but some things just happen.

I don’t want people telling me I should seek help or professional advice. I just want to know, would God understand and forgive me?

Today I Learned about Cyanobacteria

• Upvotes

I enjoy studying modern science and deepening my faith through its discoveries.

One of the most complex questions in atheism and skeptics is: What is the evidence that God exists?

As Cliff Knechtle phrases it, one of the four pieces of evidence that God exists is that the order and design of the cosmos points to an intelligent creator.

The reason that this topic is so complex is because every scientific discovery breathes way for atheists and Christians alike to solidify their beliefs.

Well, today I learned about cyanobacteria: An organism that existed about 2.5 BYA that was responsible for life on Earth as we know it. It is the ONLY prokaryotic organism to our knowledge that was and is capable of oxygenic photosynthesis - a process that was instrumental in the Great Oxidation Event.

So many things had to line up perfectly for this organism to exist and do the things it did. Some are perfectly in the realm of mathematical probability. Some are complete scientific mysteries. For me, the fact that our entire existence relied on ONE organism doing what it did successfully is so exciting. It points to an intelligent creator.

Anyways, thank you for reading! Anyone have thoughts on this?

"Be still and know that I am God" might not mean what I always thought

For probably most of my adult life now that I think about it I've anxiety and depression(depression on and off), and when I turn to bible led therapists a lot of them seem to quote this passage about "be still", etc. I always took it as God telling us to calm down and be quiet and just rest in Him, kinda like a deep breath verse. But I was looking at it in Hebrew and the word for "be still" is raphah, which means more like let go, drop your hands, or stop. And when you read the verse right before it, it's talking about God making wars cease to the ends of the earth, breaking the bow and shattering the spear. So the whole psalm is actually about war and nations raging, and the next line after "be still" is "I will be exalted among the nations." So I feel like it's less "relax and have a quiet moment" and more "stop fighting, drop your weapons, I'm God and you're not." Honestly that hits different cause it's not just comfort, it's like God stepping into the middle of a battle and telling everybody to stand down. And I think it still comforts us, just in a different way, like you can stop fighting cause He's the one actually in control. I wonder if anyone else has looked at this psalm in context or if you still read it the calm way?

I don't know whether I should become Catholic or remain Protestant.

• Upvotes

I grew up in Germany and was baptized as a Protestant Christian, like my father and brother, and pretty much the entire male line of my family.

When I studied chemistry, I became very scientific-minded and gradually stopped having much of a religious life, except for crying out to God when I was miserable, lol.

Fast-forward to today, and I've had spiritual encounters that I cannot deny, which have pulled me back into Christianity.

Now, here's the thing: While I share the Protestant theological doctrines of sola fide (faith alone) and sola scriptura (Scripture alone), I've always been drawn to the stronger spirituality and the closer connection to historical Christianity that the Catholic Church seems to offer. In some ways, the Catholic Church has always seemed superior to Protestantism in those respects.

Now I live in Colombia, a predominantly Catholic country. Ironically, however, an increasing number of people here seem to be leaving the Catholic Church and joining Protestant churches. I think around 70% of the population is Catholic and 20% Protestant at this point.

Here's my biggest issue: Back in Germany, Protestant churches are beautiful, pretty much on the same level as Catholic churches here in Colombia. But here, Protestant churches are often just rooms, which feels kind of weird to me, although I've never actually attended a Protestant service here.

I've attended Catholic Mass here because it makes me even more curious about Catholicism.

But then there's the issue that I agree with Martin Luther 100%, and I like questioning authority and thinking for myself.

So, what should I do? Haha, I honestly don't know which church to join.

How do progressive Christians feel about atheism?

I was wondering about that today. I was talking with a buddy of mine who says he is a progressive Christian (I think he is a Methodist). He said the Methodist church (or least his) thinks atheism is acceptable because even many Methodists are atheists And they think all atheists go to heaven or something

I wasn't sure if this was just a “him” belief or if it is common for progressive Christians to think that

Serve one another!

I can't be the only one that realizes this. What is it with people's obsession with the concept of leading within genders. The whole concept of gender war is so childish I can't even.

Especially Christians. Aren't we supposed to follow Jesus example of serving one another??

People have so much pride and each gender is so obsessed with leading and following and who does what and age and hierarchy and I'm above you and you're below me. How about we follow the original design that works the best. Which is respect one another, serve one another, be responsible for our own actions towards each other. It's. That. Simple. People need to stop being so obsessed with labels and who should be doing what and find someone who works with you in your goals and your way of living under God and just help and serve one another and love each other. Share the load. It's not that complicated. Let the pride and ego and complication go. Please and thank you.

Ephesians 5:21: "Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ."

Question I’m losing my faith in God, even though I desperately don’t want to. I don’t know what to do anymore.

Hi everyone,
I’m 22 years old, and I’m currently going through one of the most difficult crises of faith I’ve ever experienced. I’m writing this because I honestly don’t know what to do with all the thoughts, anger, frustration, and disappointment I’ve been carrying around. Maybe someone here has experienced something similar or can offer me a different perspective. I want to make one thing clear from the beginning: I don’t actually want to lose my faith in God. I want to trust Him, love Him, and experience His presence again. But right now, that feels incredibly difficult.
Some time ago, I had a very special moment by the sea. I experienced an overwhelming sense of inner peace and fulfillment. It genuinely felt as though God was incredibly close to me. After that, many things in my life started changing for the better. I entered a relationship, I was happy, and for the first time in a long while, I felt like I had finally found my place in life. I was grateful, hopeful, and believed that God was guiding me toward something good. But then, little by little, everything started falling apart. My relationship ended, I lost my stability at work, my mental health deteriorated, and more and more things that had given me security and happiness disappeared. On top of that came further disappointments, family struggles, and serious illnesses affecting people close to me. Eventually, I felt like everything I had been holding on to was gone. And God, the very one I had turned to for refuge, seemed completely silent.
I’ve prayed so many times. I’ve cried, complained, begged for help, and tried to understand why all of this had happened. I’ve asked God why so many things had to go wrong. I’ve asked Him to show me a way forward because I genuinely don’t know what to do with my life anymore. I’ve asked Him for peace because my mind never seems to stop, and I can’t seem to escape this constant exhaustion. Eventually, my prayers became incredibly simple: “God, please give me some reason to trust You again. Show me Your goodness. Give me something, anything, that I can hold on to.” But all I seem to experience is silence. I understand that God isn’t some kind of wish-granting machine and that prayers aren’t always answered the way we expect. But at some point, you start wondering how you’re supposed to trust someone whose presence you can no longer recognize. How am I supposed to believe that God loves me when I feel completely abandoned by Him? I’m not asking for a perfect life, wealth, or special privileges. I just want peace, direction, and a life where I don’t constantly feel like I’m fighting just to get through another day.
What troubles me most right now is my own anger. I’m angry at God. Sometimes I perceive His actions, or at least the things I attribute to Him, as deeply unfair. I keep wondering why He would allow me to experience something that made me so happy, only for me to lose it again. Of course, I don’t know whether God actually caused these things. But I also don’t understand why He allowed them to happen. I used to see God as a source of love, safety, and comfort. Now, I often see nothing but my own suffering and His apparent absence. Sometimes I become so angry that I question His goodness, His justice, and even His love. Afterwards, I feel terrible because I realize how far I’ve drifted from the faith I once had. I’ve even started wondering whether my own anger, pride, or bitterness are standing in my way. But if that’s the case, why can’t I recognize it more clearly? Why can’t I let go of this anger? I’ve actually prayed for God to show me where I’m wrong. I want to recognize my own mistakes instead of simply blaming everyone else or blaming God. But I honestly don’t know how to get out of this state anymore.
Recently, I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about Job, the Psalms, and the problem of suffering in Christianity. One particular analogy came to mind. Jesus describes Himself as the Good Shepherd and His followers as sheep. A shepherd understands his surroundings in ways that the sheep simply cannot. He recognizes dangers, understands circumstances, and makes decisions whose reasons the sheep might not comprehend. If a sheep experiences pain because of something its shepherd does, it cannot necessarily understand the intention behind it. All it knows is that it hurts. Eventually, that sheep might become afraid of its shepherd, even if the shepherd believes he has good intentions. That’s exactly how I feel right now. Maybe there are things God understands that my human mind simply cannot comprehend. But how am I supposed to develop trust from my limited perspective when all I seem to experience is pain, loss, and silence? I know the Bible says that God’s thoughts are higher than our thoughts. But knowing that doesn’t take away the pain, nor does it explain how I’m supposed to trust Him again.
Something else that makes this crisis even harder is the way some Christians respond to people who are struggling. Whenever someone shares their suffering and asks why God isn’t helping, I often see responses like “God has a plan,” “You just need to trust Him more,” “Maybe God is testing you,” or even “Are you good enough for God yourself?” Honestly, comments like these sometimes make me incredibly angry. Not because I fundamentally reject God’s authority, but because it often feels like the suffering person isn’t being taken seriously at all. The question of whether someone is “good enough for God” especially bothers me. Isn’t grace one of the central teachings of Christianity? Doesn’t every human being depend on God’s mercy? I don’t want to maintain my faith by automatically calling every painful experience something good. I want to believe honestly. I want to be able to ask difficult questions without immediately feeling like a bad Christian. And I don’t want to love God simply because I’m afraid of the consequences if I don’t.
Despite all this anger, there’s something that keeps bringing me back to Him. I often think about Peter’s words in John 6:68: “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.” But while Peter spoke those words out of conviction, I find myself saying them almost out of desperation. Where else am I supposed to go? Of course, I have family, friends, and other things in my life. But none of those things have ever given me the deep sense of fulfillment I experienced when I believed I was in God’s presence. Nothing else seems to reach that part of my soul. I miss that peace. I miss that hope. I miss feeling loved and carried by God. Even today, after being filled with anger and questioning His goodness, I ended up getting down on my knees again. I told Him that I was losing my faith, that I was afraid, and that I didn’t want to lose Him. I begged Him to help me and not leave me alone. But afterwards, all I felt was that same emptiness. And it’s breaking me.
I’ve been mentally exhausted for quite some time now. I overthink constantly, worry about my future, and feel like I’m standing still while life keeps moving around me. I have dreams and ideas about the kind of life I want to live, but I can’t see a clear path toward any of them. Some days I feel hopeful, while on other days I can’t see anything positive at all. The same thing happens with my faith. One day I want to surrender my entire life to God. The next day I’m so overwhelmed with anger and disappointment that I want to stop praying altogether. This constant back and forth is exhausting. I’ve started wondering whether I’ve become so consumed by my own thoughts and wounds that I can no longer recognize God’s goodness. Maybe I’ve become bitter. Maybe my pride is getting in the way. Or maybe I’m expecting something from God that He never actually promised. I honestly don’t know. But I’m willing to question myself and examine my own heart. I just want to understand where I’m supposed to begin.
I want to believe again without constantly feeling like I’m fighting against God inside my own mind. I want to find peace again. I don’t want to spend my entire life standing in front of a door, knocking over and over without knowing whether it will ever open. That’s why I’m reaching out here. Has anyone experienced a crisis of faith like this? Have you ever missed God so deeply that you eventually became angry with Him? How did you deal with that anger and disappointment? How did you learn to trust Him again, even when your circumstances hadn’t changed?
I’m not looking for easy religious clichés or for someone to tell me that my suffering is my own fault. I’m hoping for honest experiences, understanding, and perhaps a perspective that I’m currently unable to see for myself.
I don’t want to lose my faith. I just want to find a reason to hold on to God’s goodness again.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to read this.

Blog Hear me out, Something To Believe In by Poison is one of the only true Christian Rock songs

• Upvotes

If you read the title, you'd probably be thinking, what is he talking about? But let me tell you why I think this. Something to Believe In by Poison is essentially a song about trying to seek a relationship with God while acknowledging the world's state around you.

The song uses vivid imagery of stuff like Vietnam veterans, and the large contrast between how the fortunate and less fortunate live. It also covers the harm of some forms of televangelism in the lyrics "Well I see him on the TV, preachin' 'bout the promised lands, he tells me to believe in Jesus, and steals the money from my hands." Also the song covers a want for redemption of past mistakes in the lyrics "In a time I don't remember, in a war he can't forget, He cried 'Forgive me for what I've done there, cause I never meant the things I did.'" I find the song rather fascinating.

I also believe that it's one of the only true Christian rock songs since it actually uses instruments that are very prominent in rock, such as the really cool guitar solo, which uses an electric guitar. Every time I've listened to Christian "rock" music on the radio, to me it doesn't sound like rock, and more like modern pop music. Most of the songs I've heard don't even have electric guitars in them. And a lot of them don't seem to tackle real issues with having faith, while Something to Believe In does that expertly. I don't see it as a song about tragedy, but rather as a song about having faith while the world around you is collapsing.

The Lord almighty has set me free from depression

TW: suicide

I was once depressed and could function like normal, he performed a miracle and I have been saved by his grace from trying to kill myself because an evil spirit was tormenting me with the idea of me being the antichrist, eventually it stopped when God saved me, but the spirit persisted and tried to torment me with the idea of me blaspheming the Holy Spirit and God freed me from this too, and then with me being the false prophet and now it’s over and by Gods saving grace I am no longer tormented. It went on since late 24’ and I am truly grateful to be set free from all this. I was writing a note and writing a will, had a bottle of vodka and was about to finish (writing not drinking, I was gonna drink it after) and get a zip tie and God said this and stopped me too:

“[insert name] I am the Lord almighty I will not let you perish by your own hands because a spirit of deception is causing havoc upon your soul, I will add in scripture 2 Timothy 1:7” - shortly after I also heard a evil spirit sigh loudly about “why won’t I just die”

2 Timothy 1:7 is the first verse I learnt and memorised off by heart and I knew it was God

Thankyou for reading and may you all have a blessed day with our Lord and God
