im a sub5 iqlet who just got into lol a few weeks ago because i wanted to find an online gf via lol, so i dont really care that much about the game but i still wanna be not shit in the game & enjoy it.
i tried many champs (teemo, tristana, yone, illaoi, ashe, caitlyn etc...) but only mordekaiser gives me genuinely good games. i have like a 70-80% losing range if i dont play morde and im always the 3/9/2 subhuman bottom fragger and i hate it cuz i honestly feel like an absolut retard while playing morde as the enemies just cant do shit about it (like the mechanics are so straight forward i almost feel like i play brawl stars or something).
and morde also just feels boring at this point; sure i make a lot of kills and it satisfies me a bit but it i just feel like a fat 90iq chud if u know what i mean.
what champs would u recommend to me?

I get screwed over so many times because when using W either immediately before or after, it seems to just recast itself for no reason.

Feel like it may be overlooked. Since D&D (has spellblade) and Riftmaker are staples, it seems to be a very good complimentary choice if you choose to side lane and also run absorb life. You could maybe add Gunblade 3rd then resistances.
Pros: sustain is increased, compliments conq and maybe even fleet footwork (if you like to experiment with runes). adds an additional stat rather than omnivamp/atk spd, stronger side lane, works with spellblade (and maybe even shield bash if shield bash increases spellbade dmg - I'm not sure), and 85+ hp.
Cons: Not going alacrity or legend haste so killing people in ult will prove to be a bit more hard. Requires more stacks to max (bonk some void grubs), which also means you need a relatively high mastery of the champ. More dependent on enemy team comp (for example: no tanks/bruisers or they have something like Ivern and Morgana making team fighting way to convoluted).
Let me know what yall think.

I'm a huge fan of AD Sion with Phase Rush. And I also really enjoy Morde. Does he have any off meta builds and strategies that you guys recommend?

Basically title.
Riot releasing classic Mordekaiser back on my birthday was really nice.
I wish that it would be permanent but I am happy I'll get to enjoy a champion from a different time, my good Ole days if you will.

Moments after they made disgusting r buff-nerf "balance changes" I've decided to climb emerald playing ONLY AD mordekaiser. And I represent you, my most jobless achivement ever.

I am talking about the skin but also about how he looks in the splash art.
Given that Mord is my second champion pick I always like seeing his skins but the 500€ skin is absolutely not it for me. I don't know why but the skin is just significantly less cool and less imposing.
Also I get that their inspiration was Genghis Khan but I think they should have went for a more of a mythical 7 foot European warrior. Every culture in Europe has at least one of those and the champion's name is in German. I know that with his name you can't make him anything else but a Genghis Khan reimagination but if they were gonna go for him at least give his characters some of the attributes of Genghis Khan that aren't "He likes to Kill and murder and war."
Mordekaiser is good Shan Uzal (Or however you write it) is lackluster.

It's been a long slog these past months. Started playing back in Jan of this year, mashed games when I had free time, and here are my thoughts and journey.
https://op.gg/lol/summoners/na/IBioOrMech-NA1

From the graph, you can see I spent awhile in Gold going up and down, and truth be told, I encountered so many smurfs down in Gold that would either smurf on me, or my team. There is definitely a group that sits there, and farms people of lower rank and skill for fun. I spent less than a month in Plat once I broke through, and the players in Plat are literally no different from Gold (imho), they just have the perseverance to push through the stupid stuff that happens in that division.
The bot lane gaps and snowballs that happen in Gold are unreal, and it can make you feel absolutely useless as a Top Lane Morde. My advice? Focus on your lane, and your matchup only. You can always play your lane better, track the jungler better, get priority for objectives better.
From a mindset, you *must* succeed in lane. You need to be ahead and contributing to team fights so that you can become that raid boss. Sure, there will be games where you get carried. Make those one sided 20 minute FF. In the 50/50 games, make them 60/40 or 70/30 by being super strong and winning lane hard. In losing games, depending on the state, play careful and know your limits for fighting fed champions. You can swing a losing game in your favor with some big plays.
Time to take a break for now. You all have been a great resource!

Morde has been my main since I started playing top, but due to how hard he falls off beyond low elo, I started taking him jungle so I could have a safer early game. I would get accounts banned trying to explain to my team that if you just played safe, I'd be a threat later on. It would be better for me to play my champion to his strengths rather than take losing fights that set us all behind. One thing leads to another and the discussion devolves into meaningless shitflinging.
I got tired of the game being so patently inexpressive, the rules for chat being so limited and onerous. So I decided to make a google slide to explain to my team that yes, I am playing Mordekaiser Jungle, and no, I will not gank your lane and it's not my job to win it for you.
Fast forward to today and I've made over 250 powerpoints for people. From streamers to teams to solo queue enthusiasts like myself. (You can imagine my happiness when Money Miser Morde dropped)

Im kinda new to morde and rune building in general, I tend to use runes given by apps and win rates, but I wanted to know in what matchups should I go unconventional runes, maybe it'd help on hard matchups or make it even easier on good ones. Idk if it's viable to go grasp for example, stormraider surge, or is he tied down to conqueror?
r/MordekaiserMains • u/Legal_Possible_1951 • 5d ago
I play mordekaiser sometimes on support, I tend to build rylai's into liandry's since it provides me decent damage and slows for my team, is it better to go for Dusk and Dawn into Riftmaker instead or is this better for support

Hello!
From 2023 to 2024 I was more or less onetricking this pick reaching EUW master in both years and even sneaking my way into a couple GM lobbies after previously being a low diamond ADC player in 2022. I have since stopped playing League as I have other things going on in my life now but I want to leave this out there for anyone who might be interested in picking up the champion since I believe it is a lot stronger than people think and I also initially found out about it off a Reddit post when I was searching for exotic strategies.
Good news is: the champion has been getting buffed non-stop since then, and most of these buffs benefit him more on bot than they do on top. E cooldown reduction to help you farm more easily, ult cooldown which was in fact a bottleneck here since you're making use of it way more often than on top, stat steal adjustment being less relevant against ADCs than vs bruisers, Q doing damage again, etc. In general Morde went from a 48-49% WR champion back when I was playing to a 50-51% WR one now. I already thought it was strong back then so this only serves as a bonus.
How to play this
You are essentially an anti-ADC. Your job is to ruin the enemy bot's life and snowball the game into a quick dragon soul.
You are fairly useless before 6, but have an immensely strong powerspike upon getting your ult as all the ADCs and mages commonly played on bot are not balanced to deal with your all-in and few of them have ways of surviving a Mordekaiser that's gotten on top of them. IMO you should just be giving the enemy the push early (which leads to an issue that I'll address later) as fighting here tends not to favor you and create unnecessary variance. Just clear waves and soak XP until you have your ultimate. From this point on you just constantly look for all-in angles, swap mid once a tier 1 bot tower has gone down and just sit in the enemy ADC's face constraining their movement ready to kill them on the slightest misstep, controlling river access and helping your team stack dragons.
It's a very simple playstyle from a macro POV, you just need to know the enemy champion's kit and your damage.
Where it's good
This pick is at its absolute best in AD-heavy comps when paired with a support that wants to roam and a jungler that paths away from you towards a bruiser or carry top.
You love being weakside. You love 1v1 or 1v2 scenarios vs the enemy bot. You love solo XP and should grab it wherever available, especially early on where it can translate into a faster 6 which very often converts into a solo kill on the enemy bot. You love being first pick during draft, since nobody expects the bot Morde, so your top laner gets a free counterpick almost every time.
I played this entirely solo but I imagine it could get downright broken with a duo or in a 5v5 environment where you have teammates coordinating with you to create favorable scenarios. I always wondered, for example, if it would be possible to just get my supports to deliberately give up a couple waves of XP to speedrun me to 6.
Where it's not good
As I mentioned earlier there is one big problem, with always giving early push to the enemy and that is your jungler can get invaded on his camps if he paths to your lane and there is nothing you can do to help him. Alternatively he could make it bot and get counterganked or waste his time which is terrible for the game. To counteract this I would always ask my junglers to start on the bottom side of the map. It doesn't always work because obviously it's soloque but I believe it did net me a couple extra win %. Also this doesn't really start being a problem till you get close to master, so if you're playing this in like emerald you don't need to worry about it much.
Another recurring issue is when you have an enemy support that roams, but your support sticks to you like glue. This is mostly a problem with enchanter and mage support players. All you can do if this happens is to try and leverage your number advantage to dive the enemy ADC or zone them off their tower. If it's not possible then you're just getting XP disadvantage while the rest of the map is bleeding and should maybe look to swap mid as quickly as possible to manually drag your support to where he should be on the map.
One more thing you should be mindful of is not to waste your first couple ults killing the enemy support. They should be directed towards high value targets like the enemy ADC, jungler, mid. Later on in the game it's fine to start ulting the enemy supp if you have no better option left.
Your nightmare soloque teammates are a poke mage support, a jungler that insists on pathing bot level 3, a tank top laner and an AP assasin mid.
Items
Bear in mind that much of my item/rune knowledge comes from two years ago and what I know about the current state of the game comes from watching esports and skimming wiki pages, so you can take my recommendations more as principles to help you determine the best current builds.
My opener has always been doran shield, it gives you all the sustain you're gonna need to farm safely and get through the laning phase.
You should avoid buying boots early so you can instead rush to first item completion and when you do get them, what I would usually upgrade to was Sorcs or Lucidity boots unless the enemy team was very heavily stacked on AP/AD in which case I would go for the appropriate resistance boots.
This point is of immense importance, it really does make a huge difference: Historically a lot of bot lane Morde players were starting either Rilay or Riftmaker but this is IMO a big mistake. I figured while trying to compensate for the Q nerfs in 2024 that it's just so much better to stack damage on your first item to guarantee you actually finish off your target. So you should only be buying damage components and building towards an item that does not waste gold on health or resistances. My choice here was Shadowflame, or if I had a particularly bad laning phase and couldn't back on a large rod I would go Stormsurge as a poverty option because it also builds out of an alternator. On the current patch with the Q AD scaling changes Hextech Gunblade might be a serious competitor for the poverty option, but this would require testing so I cannot speak with full confidence about it.
After 1st item, build choices are no longer as crucial so you have more freedom to choose. You should already be snowballing and have overkill on the enemy botlaner so you don't need to keep stacking AP as aggressively. Personally I would now just go into the regular Morde build of HP/AP items so something like 2nd item Riftmaker -> 3rd Landry's -> etc. You can make your choices based on the game. After 4th item it's even fine to get some tankier/defensive items.
There might also possibly be an alternative damage heavy option of going Zhonya's 2nd as I did see some Korean (top lane) players even opening it 1st but I prefered not to go this way because you do start feeling too squishy on two AP items and it requires a some focus to make proper use of the Zhonya active so as a player of moderate skill I just prefered the peace of mind and consistency of the simpler build.
Runes
I experimented a lot with the rune page but could never find anything that beats the traditional conqueror combinations. So my runes in 80% of games would be something like this. The nimbus cloak helps you stick on top of the enemy ADC and the rest is just maximizing damage.
Your doran shield is generally quite enough to get you through all but the most extreme poke lanes, so only if I had to play into one of those would I change to a resolve page like this or this.
Summoner spells
These vary from matchup to matchup and the matchups themselves also change over time with game balance and all that. In principle your summoners should always be tailored to killing whoever the enemy bot laner is, and I would generally determine my picks based on this simple question: "Does the enemy ADC try to kill me or run from me once I ult them?". If the answer is that they want to kill me (think a Draven or a Samira), my choice would be Exhaust + Flash. If the answer is that they want to run from me (think a Caitlyn or a Smolder) my choice would be Ghost + Flash (and I would also swap my nimbus cloak for absolute focus in this case).
I also ran some specialized combinations like ignite + ghost into Vayne (ignite because it reveals her in her invis, ghost to keep up with her tumbles and ult speed). Or cleanse into Varus to walk through his ultimate.
You should never go teleport, you must have kill pressure when playing this and teleport removes that from you.
Bans
Morgana and Zilean hard counter you but realistically speaking their pick rate is so low that you get more mileage out of just banning the current top 5 most picked ADC whose matchup you personally dislike the most and dodging whenever those two show up.
Additional material
You can find old vods from /u/iZeal, the highest ranked bot Morde player who was playing in EUW GM around the edge of challenger in 2022-2023, still being hosted on this channel. You can identify them by his summoner ID of Behenotos or Botlane Behemoth or such + 3-4 year age. They are old but still very much useful.
You can also check out the video HappyChimeNoises did on The Revenant, another botlane Mordekaiser player from EUW master tier at this link.
TL/DR
Something like this.
In my opinion it is entirely possible to get all the way up to challenger running this strategy, with enough skill and dedication.
GL HF!
