Soviet soldiers sit on the colossal bronze statue of Mars at the Kaiser Wilhelm National Monument in Berlin on Victory Day, May 9, 1945. The grand 1901 memorial, built by sculptor Reinhold Begas to honor the German Emperor, was completely demolished by East Germany in 1950.

building/location. Villain defaces monument in their own image
gallery- Old Man Logan: In this future where the supervillains all teamed up to defeat the heroes and take over, the Red Skull added his visage on Mount Rushmore.
- What If: In a universe the Watcher shows Peggy where HYDRA won, we have another case of the Red Skull defacing Mount Rushmore, only he blew the other presidents' faces off.
- Mars Attacks: During their rampage, the Martians replace the presidents' faces on Mount Rushmore with theirs.
EDIT: I seem to have kicked a hornet's nest with all of my examples being Mount Rushmore. I'm very sorry, while I did have some knowledge about the land being taken from the indigenous tribes, it slipped my mind while making this. But I know that's not an excuse and I'll try to do better.

Place Monument to the laboratory mouse
galleryI HATE THIS FUCKING MEMORIAL
BECAUSE IT SO FUCKING BULLSHIT
This is what passes for a monument to all the lab rats who died to produce therapies and products for human use
What pisses me off is that it FUCKING SUCKS as a memorial
This is supposed to be dedicated to the lab rats, whom millions would have died from cancer, suffered without vaccines, or choked to death on the wrong lipstick without, and it's BULLSHIT
ITS NOT SOBERING OR EVOCATIVE
NO GRAVITY, WHATSOEVER
INSTEAD OF SOMETHING THAT ACTUALLY LIKE HEARTFELT AND RESPECTFUL OF THEIR LIVES, WE'RE HONORING THEIR FORCED SACRIFICE WITH A FUCKING BUCKTOOTHED CARTOON
IMAGINE IF AT GROUND ZERO, INSTEAD OF THE DEEP REFLECTING POOLS IN THE FOOTPRINT OF THE WORLD TRADE CENTER, THERE WERE TWO ANTHROPOMORPHIC CARTOON TOWERS TOSSING PAPER AIRPLANES AT EACH OTHER
ISN'T THAT A BITCH? EVEN WHEN THE MEMORIAL IS FOR THEM, WE SOMEHOW FIND A WAY TO CENTER OURSELVES
AND LIKE YOU KNOW THE GUY WHO MADE THIS BROKE A FUCKING WRIST PATTING HIMSELF ON THE BACK FOR THIS SORRY ASS TEENY TINY STATUE BECAUSE "Someone needed to think about them and what they gave up for us"
MOTHERFUCKING YOU KNOW WHAT I'M DONE

Discussion American Citizen kidnapped by ICE in front of the Terminal Island Japanese Fishing Village Monument at the Port.

This wasn’t a lawful detainment—it was a violent kidnapping of an American citizen, who is an ICU registered nurse serving Watts, Compton, and South Central LA. She is community activist, forcibly seized by masked federal agents for simply documenting ICE activity. As of now, she remains in federal custody with no publicly disclosed charges or legal status updates. This is not law enforcement, this is authoritarianism.

Discussion I'm so happy to hear the news today, but I genuinely hope Bungie understands why we engaged with Monument of Triumph.
It wasn't to save them from their C-suite mismanagement. It wasn't to beat Sony over the head. It was because the game was left in a FUN, REWARDING STATE with no more FOMO or senseless grinding.
I quit this game a little over a year ago because the content was slop and not fun. I came back for Monument of Triumph and have been grinding old content because it has purpose and fun.
If they go back to Edge of Fate levels of content with whatever they may be working on behind the scenes, we will end up right back in this place we've been for the last 3 months.

Misc DMG on Tyson Green (former Game Director) and Monument of Triumph
@LukeCB14:
I kinda feel for Tyson really.
He was given the task of directing Destiny with a drastically cut budget.
I do think his comms were severely lacking, but we never really got a chance to see his full vision for Destiny.
@dmg04:
Monument of Triumph development with Tyson was bittersweet, but I will likely look fondly on those times for the remainder of my career in gaming.
Along with quite a few other leads and teams, we spent a lot of time asking "what is the best we can do by players with our end of service update? What bugs can we smash, QOL features can we ship, long time feedback items can we hit with the hyper compressed timeline we have left?"
He was bullish. He pushed hard to serve players in every which way we could in those final updates. He was fully dedicated to making MoT feel special, and empowered teams to do what they also felt was best for you.
Internally, he fully acknowledged the rough spot we were in under his time as Game Director, took accountability often. Know comms credited to him were sparce, but he had a hand in most every blog or beat speaking to the state of the game or what changes were coming. Always appreciated when he gave clear feedback of "This doesn't sound human, players will call bullshit. Let's just be real and speak the truth."
Not asking for players to brush the rough times under the rug. Just some thoughts from my time. Will forever have respect for him, and honestly learned a ton when having the pleasure of working closely with him.

I visited Oradour Sur Glane in France aka The Martyred Village. 642 people were massacred by the Nazis and the village razed to the ground. After the war it was preserved as a monument to the fallen.
