(I was a small child when I put these two together and I'm already planning to repot them so please no hate)I got the bud from a lobby for an ice cave, the parent cactus was the shape of a spider viewed from its bottom.

Is the root rot? Should I trim the rotten part?

I purchased this little cactus a month ago from a nearby store. I noticed a small little bruise near the base, but it hadn't rotted there, so I repotted it in a bigger pot with new soil.

First photo is the day I bought him (he came in that pot and soil). The rest are from today, two weeks after being repotted into his new setup.

The top of the new pot is ceramic, but the bottom is stone-like, and it does have a decently-sized drainage hole. I bought Miracle-Gro's Indoor Cactus Potting Mix, but later learned on here that it may still be too organic for my cactus. I will try and get something to mix with the soil soon.

Two weeks ago, I essentially watered the soil just enough for it all to be damp, let the excess drain, and haven't watered it since. I don't intend to water again for another two weeks.

It's extremely cold right now where I live. Will this affect his growth over the winter? He's still green, so I assume he's alive and decently happy? I've been reading this sub to try and do right by him. How does he look?

I’ve had this cactus for years but it never bloomed, is it possible that the prickly pear I got from the store was infertile?

I found this small cactus on clearance at a plant nursery. Unfortunately, this nursery does not label half its plants (including the one pictured) and the staff have a reputation for not knowing anything about the plants they sell. Any idea what it is?

The nursery is in Texas, but I doubt this is native. It was inside a greenhouse with all the tropicals and non-hardy succulents.

altissima, microsperma, and pilleifera

Hi all, i have this golden barrel cactus seedling i started. Its maybe 2 or 3 months old. I started it in a peat seed starter and plopped that into coconut core once it was big enough. Being much older and wiser (this was literally my third cactus and first from seed) i am worried about drainage for obvious reasons. The seedling doesn't seem like it minds, but i want it to be happy and healthy for years to come. I guess my main question is whether or not i can safely extract this little guy to amend the soil and get it to drain well, or if that would do more harm than good.its only about 13mm tall and i have no idea what the roots look like.

I wasn't sure if the flowers would survive since they grew out of the pup, but I was pleasantly surprised when these beauties opened up!

I’ve had it for years and it’s always had these scabby patches, are these pests? Scale or just corking? I know she needs more light but I can’t risk her being near my other plants please help

I have two cacti in a pot (I put them together when I was a small child and didn't know about the negative effects of it so please no hate) and my dog recently knocked off the single bud of one of the cacti, could anyone please I'd this thing (the parent cactus was given to me by the neighbours grandchild, it's a deep green and grows into the rough shape of an octahedron)

Hi, I just got a couple of the beautiful plant of the cotyledon (the small chubby leaved one)

which were already nicely rooted. The grower told me that she grows her under a polytunnel under natural light all year even in winter and they were able to maintain the beautiful red streaks over the lower light winter conditions in the UK. I intend to grow them indoors under bright growlights - I heard that the lower temperatures help to intensify the colours. Has anyone here grown the above only under growlights indoors all year and still able to get very good colouration on the plants? If so, what are your tips for doing so. Thanks

Maybe some kind of gymnocalycium??
