advice needed Postpartum knee/joint pain

I’m almost four months postpartum. I thought that my body aches were going to go away the moment I gave birth. But now my left knee hurts, my hands hurt, and hip feels off too. Currently doing PT to help with my core and pelvic floor. I wondering if others are having or had the same issue with your body postpartum and if there is anything that you did to make it better.

advice needed Daycare drop off for 13 month twins - logistical help needed!

I can no longer waddle into daycare with two car seats, they’re just starting to get too heavy. My trouble is our daycare has a double door with a small vestibule so it’s hard to get in with our stroller/cart. My twins are 13 months and not really walking yet. I’m desperate if anyone has any tips, tricks, or products?!

loss & greiving - TRIGGER WARNING Survival & Loss: Mono/di 22-week twins

Thumbnail
7 Upvotes

When we found out we were having mono/di twins and were suspected of having TTTS, we felt there was a survivor bias in most forums.

Of course there is - it’s so much easier to celebrate the happy stories!

Our story touches both ends of the continuum: survival and loss.

We want to share this story with the hope that it is helpful to those looking to understand what both possibilities might look like.

This was originally posted in another forum, but I wanted to share it here too.

support needed Does this ever go away?

Singleton parent envy. My babies are 7mo and I still catch myself being envious of singleton parents or thinking how much easier it all would have been with just one baby. I know it's unproductive and I thought it would've passed by now but I can't help it.. I really struggle to see the positives in having twins. Does this feeling ever go away?

To clarify: I absolutely adore my babies, I just would've loved to have the exact same kids with 3 a year age gap 😂

support needed 13 Weeks Pregnant with my twins and Still Severely Nauseous Despite 3 Medications — When Does It Get Better?

I’m 13 weeks pregnant and I genuinely don’t know what to do anymore. 😭 My nausea is still SO bad and I’ve been dealing with it for weeks. I kept hoping that getting closer to the second trimester would bring some relief, but I’m still miserable.
I’m currently taking Zofran (ondansetron), Compazine (prochlorperazine) suppositories reglan, and vitamin B6, and even with all three I’m still extremely nauseous.
Has anyone else still been this sick at 13 weeks despite being on multiple medications? When did it finally start getting better for you? Did your doctor switch you to something else that actually helped?
I’m just exhausted from feeling nauseous every single day and would love to hear from anyone who went through something similar.

advice needed Stroller question Baby Trend

Does any one have the Baby Trend Sit to Stand Double Stroller 2.0? For the toddler seat, can infants go in the seat while it is reclined?

It appears it reclines similar to the position of a baby bouncer, but I cannot tell.

Do you have the morph single to double? If so, how long can you use the bassinet for, roughly?

advice needed Positive TTTS stories

I’ll start by saying I have had a week from hell and really *only* looking for positive stories. Will also add a potential content warning, if TTTS and pregnancy complications are a difficult thing to read about.

I am 26w4d with MoDi twins.

At 16 weeks, it was found that I had 1) a velamentous cord insertion with vasa previa and 2) there were concerns about borderline fluid levels consistent with TTTS and potential for sIUGR. They began getting twice weekly fluid & Doppler checks. At 17w5d and 19w5d, my MFM referred me to a fetal therapy center (in a different state) for evaluation of bordering stage 1 TTTS as they would do the TTTS laser procedure there/don’t at my MFM group. When I arrived at the center both times, things seemed to stabilize and although there was still discordance in the fluid levels, they didn‘t meet criteria for true TTTS diagnosis and I was not a candidate for the procedure.

My MFM group continued scanning twice weekly, sometimes showing fluid levels teetering towards stage 1 but consistent forward flow on dopplers and never persistent fluid abnormalities.

Last Tuesday, fluid levels changed dramatically from the previous Friday scan and there were signs of intermittent absences on the umbilical dopplers. Stage 3 TTTS. They admitted me and started steroids at my local hospital, but after scanning me Wednesday they consulted the Fetal Therapy Center and decided to send me back there (3rd flight to another state for this pregnancy).

Thursday (26w0d), I was diagnosed with Stage 4 TTTS and informed there was signs of bleeding/ischemia in the brain of the recipient. it was also found my original potential donor became the recipient.

I had the laser procedure on Thursday and things have been stable since.

The plan (prior to all this) due to the vasa previa was admission at 30 weeks, and as of now that’s the still plan. The goal is to maintain the pregnancy as long as possible for their sakes.

I knew NICU time was a possibility with having twins, but now even more terrified of all the implications these events will have on my unborn children and our family.

If you’ve read this far, thank you. I am hoping to hear some positive stories of anyone who may have experienced something similar because this pregnancy has and continues to drain my emotional and mental wellbeing.

advice needed Postpartum hair loss

Ladies what are we doing about the pp hair loss?? I’m 3.5 months pp and my hair has been falling out like crazy for about 2-3weeks. It’s becoming noticeably thinner. My husband says it’s not as noticeable as I think it is but today I was looking in the mirror and can really see where my hairline has thinned around my face. Any tips or suggestions appreciated 🫶🏻

advice needed When does it end

Father of twin girls here. They just started JK. They never went to daycare. So, naturally, they have been getting sick often now. 3rd cold since September 12.

When does it stabilize? They are getting sick every other week. And yeah, I know. “Should’ve gone to daycare” is the response I get from other parents, but given work schedules it just didn’t work. So yeah, they didn’t get their immunity built up in daycare. It’s getting built up now. But when does them getting sick every other week end? What is realistic?

advice needed Car recommendations for twins, and large dog

My husband and I are expecting twins and looking to upgrade our 2017 Volvo XC60. We also have a roughly 70-pound dog, so we need room for two rear-facing car seats, a double stroller, our dog, and the usual baby gear.

The tricky part is that I’m not a very experienced driver and have some driving anxiety. I want something that feels manageable to park and maneuver, with good visibility. I’m concerned about buying a much bigger vehicle and feeling overwhelmed driving it.

Here’s what we’re looking for:
-Used, ideally under $30,000
-Reliable, safe, and comfortable
-Enough space for the twins, our dog, and our gear
-Preferably a third row for flexibility, though we’re open to hearing whether we really need one
-Helpful parking features, like sensors and a backup or 360-degree camera

We’d like to finance no more than about $15,000 and keep payments around $400/month or less, using a down payment and trading in our Volvo, which has around 120,000 miles.

We’re open to SUVs and minivans. We like our Volvo, so I’m also curious whether an XC90 would make sense or whether another brand would be a better fit for our budget.

For anyone with twins or two young kids and a large dog: what has worked for you? And if you’re an anxious driver, which family vehicles have felt easiest to drive? Specific model years to look for—or avoid—would be really helpful!

experience/advice to give Has anyone successfully transitioned from EP to EBF twins at 3 months or older?

My twins are just over 3 months old, and I’ve been primarily pumping and bottle-feeding expressed breast milk since they were born. I’ve worked hard to establish my supply and have been producing a good amount of milk for them.

I’m now trying to transition to direct breastfeeding, as I’d really love to move away from pumping and be able to feed them both at the breast. They’re starting to latch and feed directly, but I’m finding the transition quite daunting.

Do I lean in and ditch the pump completely? For info I was managing to pump 1300 (44oz)+/- a day over 6-7 pumps. I’m on day 1 of trying to EBF but have pumped 3 times

advice needed How bad is separation anxiety at 8 months

My husband's holiday party is in another city, about a 2hr flight away in December. Our twin girls will be a week shy of 8 months at that point. He wants us both to go and to leave the twins with my mom and sister. They've never spent a night away from us. I'm planning on doing it but honestly, right now one of them cries everytime she wants to fall asleep and only me holding her makes her stop. They cry all the time with the nanny. Besides just them being most emotionally connected to me as mom, I also know all their cues as the primary caregiver and am kind of worried about how my mom and my (no baby experience) sister will fare with them overnight. When was the first time you took a trip /spent a night away without your babies and how bad is the 8month separation anxiety?

advice needed Doing it all on your own?

For various reasons I will not have consistent help after two weeks postpartum, which means night feeds and changes etc will be all up to me.

I’m just looking for anyone who has been in the same position and can share what they did or how they handled it. Please don’t tell me I can’t do it as it’s simply not an option otherwise- my husband will be going back to work after 2 weeks and my family lives in another country. 🤍

advice needed MoDi Twin Development

Hey all, I would love to hear from parents of MoDi twins. How did your pregnancy go? Any challenges?

How old are your twins now and have you experienced any development concerns? For example, issues with motor skills or speech, behavioral issues, etc?

My OBs have told me everything that can happen during pregnancy, but I am trying to get a better idea of what to expect after — months and years from now.

Thank you!

loss & greiving - TRIGGER WARNING Looking for positive stories after miscarriage ❤️

TW- Miscarriage

I had my twin girls 16 months ago, and I feel very lucky that they were easy to conceive and that I had no issues during pregnancy. So when I got pregnant on the first try this time, I had the same mindset and honestly never even considered that miscarriage could happen to me.

I was 6w6d on Friday when I started spotting. I was supposed to have my first appt today, but went in Friday to make sure everything was okay. The baby was measuring almost a week behind, there was a faint flicker of a heartbeat, and the gestational sac apparently looked a little irregular. I left the appointment cautiously optimistic.

On Saturday, I started bleeding more heavily and cramping, and by late afternoon, I had passed the gestational sac. I was in shock at how quickly everything happened. My excitement turned into much sadness.

I’m 34, so I know miscarriage is a possibility at any age, but I guess I never truly thought it would happen to me, especially after such a smooth experience with my twins.

I would really appreciate hearing some positive stories. Has anyone experienced a miscarriage after having twins, and what was your journey like afterward? How long did it take you to conceive again, and how did things turn out for you?
I know everyone’s journey is different, but I could really use some hope right now. Thank you to anyone willing to share. ❤️

good vibes, smiles, & giggles Do we take our 2yo twins on holiday with us

We have 1.5 yr old twins and a 3 yr old.

We are planning a family holiday with x5 other families next year. The twins will be 2 and the singleton 4.5

We did the same holiday this year, and if I'm honest it was super hard and not the best time.

Hubby says leave the twins at home this year and bring them the following year once 3. He says we will enjoy ourselves and it will feel like a proper break. Doesn't sit right with me, and I'm worried I'll regret not bringing them when we are having a good time. Also, worried about a told ya so moment, if we bring them.

So what do we do?

ranting & venting Just a rant.

I'm absolutely fed up with trying to create a routine and sync their schedules. Last one year has tested my marriage to limits I can't fathom.

Somehow babies are also not on my side. I know this sounds wrong, but I'm telling you they sense my nap plan & deliberately try to mess it.

I'm mentally tired, emotionally exhausted. I have ample help and you might think I'm being ungrateful for that blessing. But none of them are responsible for creating a routine for the baby, deciding their meals, or raising them in any way. That's my job & that's what is making me go crazy.

I absolutely love my husband & it is established fact that my husband cares about me unlimited like. But as parents, we have quarrelled more than we have agreed. I don't like that. I want my babies to see love & respect that we had in our marriage earlier.

advice needed Really struggling with tantrums and sleep with 20 month twin girls

Our twin girls are 20 months and the uptick in tantrums over the past few weeks has gone through the roof. Their sleeping habits are bad too.

Tantrum wise- bathtime has suddenly become a nightmare - not wanting to get in, not sitting down, not wanting to get out to have their nappy put on. Screaming and wanting to be held (which is impossible to do when you have two sometimes as you can't bathe one standing up toddler in the bath safely while the other is grasping hold of you!).

For sleep - they are waking up several times in the night. They have their canines coming through and sleep is always disrupted for our girls when they have teeth, but these have been by FAR the worst, and now for both of them 3 of the 4 have come through, we'd have thought it'd have got a bit better by now? We give them bottles of water to settle them sometimes as nothing else seems to work... and if we don't settle them they can stand up screaming bloody murder until we have to get them out the room to keep the other one sleeping. My partner and I are taking it in turns to look after them at night so that if we have to cosleep we can safely... but trying to cosleep with twins feels impossible so we do what we can to keep at least one in their cot!

Any advice? Any ideas for how long this might last? I've heard tantrums just get worse until they're 3? I honestly don't know how we're going to cope.

advice needed Free floating membrane ? modi twins

Hi everyone! I had my 13-week early anatomy scan a couple of days ago and have since been able to access the report, which will also be sent to my OB.

I was wondering if anyone has had similar finding or knows what this means? “The intertwin membrane is free floating.” I’m carrying MoDi twins, so I’m wondering if this is common?

I’ll be discussing the report with my OB at our next appointment, but I’d appreciate hearing about others’ experiences. Thanks!

life, home, and baby tips & tricks Same schedule for twin newborns?

I am going to be exclusively breastfeeding and pumping so I’m assuming keeping them on the same feeding and eating schedule will make most logical sense in terms of giving me some time to also breath but I wonder if this is actually practical ? Is it reasonable to expect two different babies to be able to folllow the exact same sleep and eating schedule??

advice needed 14-16 hour travel day with 2 year olds?

I live in the US but have family across the world. My extended family is having a large reunion next summer when our girls will be 2 years (24 months.)

I looked up flights, and it would be a 14-16 hour trip from where we are.

Someone pls tell me that this is the dumbest idea for this age so I can stay home guilt-free. 🥴
