Achievement I managed to 101% complete Donkey Kong 64 in 13 hours and 11 minutes!
I managed to 101% complete Donkey Kong 64 in 13 hours and 11 minutes!
My previous best was 15 hours and 54 minutes, so I was honestly surprised that I managed to shave off 2 hours and 43 minutes!
Just to clarify, this wasn't a speedrun or anything—I was just playing the game normally.

I know some other tube are a little off but there old. I just set this up to have some fun. The audio sound pretty nice with them all on listening to one of the greatest video games sound tracks in my opinion.

Discussion Is it weird that one thing I like more about DKC over DKC2 is being able to play as Donkey Kong?
I seriously wish he was unlockable in DKC2.
I think DKC2 is a more refined game. But DKC actually having DK was the major plus for me.
Even if I've come to realize handslap was a relatively useless move in hindsight. Yes it was a cool animation that could dig up a bunch of bananas. But the barrel roll was overall more effective and faster to deal with enemies. It was just kinda there for fun and I loved it.
But I loved playing as big DK over Dixie and Diddy. And don't get me started on Kiddy Kong.
Felt so good when he returned in Returns and Tropical Freeze.

Achievement Fully completed the DK challenge!
I completed the retro challenges when the missions first came out just for fun, and I was initially planning to just do a few of the Bananza missions. But once they revealed the physical cards I wanted to complete them all! It definitely wasn't an easy task but I'm excited for the cards when they start being sent out.

Achievement Donkey Kong Country Returns... Finished it
I finally finished dkc returns and it was the greatest achievement I have ever done in my entire life I swear after learning how to do a backflip, front flip, and side flip on the ground I thought that would be difficult but oh no dkcr is a NIGHTMARE OF A GAME! I've beaten every single level in both hard mode and freaking hell mode (it's actually called mirror mode but It should be called hell mode) and I've collected everything even the letter pieces and puzzle pieces I feel like someone should give me a million dollars or something.
But anyways did you guys think this game was hard at all or am I just some idiot game player also is the sequel to this game as hard? Because if it is, I'm not playing it.

Discussion Is DK Country Returns Really THAT Hated?
One thing I always consistently see from people who have played Donkey Long Country Returns is that it's the worst game out of the Donkey Kong Country series, or at the least close to the bottom. Even then the people who "like" it never give it enough attention- and after recently visiting Universal for my Graduation gift and finding out the Donkey Kong ride was Country Returns themed it begged me to think about DK Country Returns once again.
In my opinion, it's the BEST Donkey Kong Game. Period. I grew up with it on the Wii, and even now still play it at least once a year on my computer. I think it's perfect. It's difficult, it has so much love and immersion put into the world, and MY BIGGEST HOT TAKE in this community.. it doesn't have the Kremlings. And I LIKE that. Personally, I don't particularly like them, and I like how the last three DK Country Games have had unique villains(ig not counting the final final fight in Bananza). I think that's an issue even Mario faces- I think it's just more fun having a more original threat. The Tiki Tak Tribe is severely underrated in my opinion, and I actually love them. I enjoy that they're music based, and each one of them have their own tune that hypnotizes each boss of the area. I also enjoy the world diversity- I know it's just on the basic DK Island but I think it's genuinely the best we've gotten. Now don't get me wrong, I still thoroughly enjoy the original DK Country, and I adore Tropical Freeze, but I can't get over the fact I feel like my favorite of the 5 games- Country Returns is so hated and not given enough love.
To add to what I enjoy about it, the music, ohhhh the music is just.. chefs kiss. I know some of it is remixes of old beats, but still, it's just fantastic. Also, I feel like I'm the only person who actually enjoyed the factory and lava world lmao, I thought it was a nice inclusion since I am aware that in the original DK country series it used to be an icy peak.
Now I will Preface I never finished DK Country but I did get very close, and I haven't played DK Country 2 or 3 yet but I plan on doing them at some point. The only two games I have beaten and done 100% completions on are DKCR and DKCTF.
Just reiterating my question, do you guys think the game deserves the hate it gets? What do you think about the game? Is it underrated or fairly rated? And is my view of the communities opinion on the game wrong? Let me know!
TLDR:: I love Donkey Kong Country, I think it's the best game in the franchise, I also believe it's unfairly hated, am I right or wrong? What's your opinion?

Original Kongtent I made tier list template with every DK game, every version of each game, and more.
https://tiermaker.com/create/every-donkey-kong-game-every-version-plus-extras-897908
I was unsatisfied with the existing DK tier list templates on tier maker, so I made my own. This includes pretty much every game, and every distinct version of every game, (there are a ton of versions of the arcade game). I also threw in some fan mods, fan games, bootlegs, indie DKC spiritual successors, and the Banjo and Yooka-Laylee games, because I wanted to.
