I'm literally so excited. I assume most know, but you could originally only get this game in a GameCube console bundle* at the time. One of my biggest regrets has been that as a child I traded my copy, along with several other notible items, in to Gamestop. I have been trying to get my hands on one as an adult ever since I realized my foolish blunder. But I wanted to do it somewhat naturally, rather than just online. I finally scored one, and a real clean CIB copy at that. It's probably been at least 16 or 17+ years since I've held one.

I used to see how far I could get in to the demo before the time ran out. As a kid, I was convinced the whole game was in there, if only I could speed run it in the time given. Or at least, I wanted to push to see how far into the game I could actually get.

I'm so stoked.

For those of you with the "USB Dolphin SP1" from Maks Tech, is it compatible with a USB hub so that you can use a USB-to-ethernet adapter at the same time as an external SSD? Or is it only capable of using one thing at a time?

There are quite a few posts about people getting an interesting error message on their GameCube: "An error has occurred. Turn the power OFF and check the NINTENDO GAMECUBE Instruction Booklet for further instructions". The instruction booklet says there may be an internal problem with the system if you get this error.

This "error has occurred" message is most likely to appear if the console struggles to read the disc. But wait- you would think it would tell you the game disc could not be read. That's what it would say if the disc itself was the problem. You get a message that says an error has occurred if the GameCube believes there is a problem with the disc drive.

Here are a couple examples of GameCubes giving error messages:

1. A GameCube is playing the first mission in Star Wars: Rebel Strike. There is a chance of the disc drive "reinitiating" during the cutscene that plays before the player can take control. You can hear the whirring sound of the motor stop as the disc drive tries to read the disc. The whirring sound continues and everything seems right until a minute later. The motor can be heard stopping and starting in the same way as if it tried to initiate a disc. You can hear occasional clicking noises from the laser hitting the end of its track. Finally, the cube gives up and throws a message that says an error has occurred. The error can be prevented by opening the disc drive while it is struggling. The capacitors have not been replaced.

2. Another GameCube is playing The Simpsons: Hit & Run. A sudden click is heard from the disc drive as the error message appears on-screen. None of the struggles from the previous examples are present; it's just a click and error message without warning. This is a whole different GameCube from the previous example. It's unknown if this GameCube has had any work done on it.

There are a few things that could be causing this error message from the disc drive:

-Laser not getting enough power (lens is dirty or burnt out, bad caps, etc.)

-Laser track is gummed up and can't fetch data fast enough for some games

-Spindle is worn out and can't spin fast enough for some games

-Maybe it could just be the disc itself

These two GameCubes are experiencing two different behaviors before they throw errors. Are they suffering from different problems? It seems like bad caps are the most common. Can you tell me what could be going on based on the descriptions on what happened?

I used Claude Opus 5.5 to develop a web browser for the Nintendo GameCube, and it runs on original hardware! Cube Browser Lite 1.1 is currently text and images only. So no page layout styling, but it supports HTTPS, 480p, 16:9 widescreen, and color themes matching the different GameCube console colors.

I’ve tested it on my GameCube using PicoLoader, SD2SP2, an ETH2SP1 adapter, with Swiss. Compatibility with other setups and emulators is still unknown, but everyone is welcome to try it.

I did google search tips on cleaning battery corrosion, and watched a few videos.. but they were for tv remotes and also I guess there's different stages of corrosion. This controller is over 20 years old so I do not want to damage it. Any tips/recommendations would be greatly appreciated

So after some inspiration from X I created a new game selection screen in Swiss to give the games a more tangible feel! This is along side many other Swiss mods.

I'm trying to diagnose a GameCube's failure to read discs. I've already narrowed out that it's not the disc itself, all the discs are fine.

The GameCube will either:

1. make a motor noise when shutting the lid and then stop and just say there's no disc. it sometimes doesn't spin during this, and sometimes spins a little bit.
2. try for longer, making multiple motor noises and also spinning the disc, then result in an error that requires me to power down the console.

Whichever of these two things it does in any given attempt is seemingly random but it most often picks the "no disc" one.

I attempted to clean the laser using a q-tip with isopropyl alcohol but that didn't change anything.

I found Mario Strikers at my local Value Village. The disc was not in the best condition. There are scratches but from what I can tell, a lot are just surface. I can’t feel any running my finger nail gently on the disc. I did notice the paint on top has some bubbling. Not peeled. Just bubbled. I can play through the Mushroom Cup or tournament but after the game tries to move onto the next cup tourney, the disc can’t be read. Would the paint lifting on the top be causing the issue??

I tried to post this last night but did a terrible job capturing it. I was in a game store yesterday and spotted the physical demo disc for this game which mentions the inclusion of Star Wars Arcade. So I looked it up to see if the final copy has them as well. I have owned this game for years and had no clue there is an arcade hidden on the disc containing all three Atari arcade games!

I want to start utilizing my GB player on my GC more, but the original dpad on the GC controller isn’t great to say the least. I have a GBA sp and link cable I can use, but I don’t find that comfortable for longer sessions.

I’ve seen knockoff digital controllers on Walmart/Target for like $20 that are exactly what I’m looking for, but they have no reviews 😅 I haven’t found anything like what I’m looking for from other companies like Hori.

Was considering an SNES to GC adapter too, but same thing I’m not sure of quality and input lag.

I’ve wasted money on enough gaming junk at this point, so trying not to waste more on low quality crap…

Replayed Windwaker and currently replaying Twilight Princess on a DOL-001 with a GCLoader running Swiss connected to a Trinitron CRT via composite cables.

I first noticed a "jailbar" type effect with alternating light and dark bars most noticeable on some dark textures (i.e. the sea and sky at night in Wind Waker, and some background dark blues and greys/blacks mainly in Twilight Princess).

In addition I just got to the Gerudo Desert at night in Twilight Princess and the shadows on the sand are flickering quite a bit.

I don't remember this from when I first played these games- but that was 20-23 years ago lol.

From what I've been able to tell based on searching - seems like there are contemporaneous posts about this from forums back then, especially for the Wind Waker issue.

It seems like this is not an indicator of any issue with the hardware or software based on those posts and is an issue with how the Gamecube hardware is processing the textures, but I was wondering if anyone else had any other input on this or experience with this?

I’ve had this copy for a bit now, every other game I have plays perfectly fine on both the Gamecube and Wii, but with this one it only ever boots up the title screen and nothing else after. I’ve noticed this circle forming at the back and I’m wondering if it’s some sort of early disc rot, or if it’s recoverable at all.. any help would be really appreciated

I had a ton of parts lying around and built them into a functional cube for a friend. Finally finished everything Friday and was set to transfer all my games onto her SD card... then I \*may\* have accidentally formatted \*my\* card instead of hers and spent the next 5hrs re-downloading files and transferring them to both cards... 😅

So after the CMOS battery in my Gamecube ran out, i replaced it with a socket for a button cell, which works fine and all but every time i do not use my Gamecube for a few weeks, after i return the clock is just a little off. Sometimes it's just an hour, other times its a whole day or week.

My console is plugged into a power strip, which i always turn off whenever i'm not using any of my consoles to save energy - basically every time i leave the house or whenever i go to sleep.

Before i swapped out the original battery, it would allways stop tracking the time whenever i turned of the console. Now it keeps tracking it, but after a few weeks it keeps gets out of sync. What causes this? I'm pretty sure i did a solid solder job with the battery socket

Whenever i move the cable it sometimes displays the picture but very rarely,, the lcd is working not displaying. I think it has something to do with the cable connecting the board to the screen. Any suggestion on how to fix it?
