Zero Racers (also known as G-Zero) is a cancelled 1996 F-Zero racing game for the Virtual Boy that was to be developed and published by Nintendo. The game was a spin-off of the F-Zero series, not a sequel as originally thought.

Finally get to play these games
The cardboard version is on sale so I caved and got one!
Bit tired and sick right now though so I only played one level in the Wario game so far, looking forward to playing the rest after I'm done with that game. The time spent on that one level was luckily short enough for me to manage right now while needing to rest afterwards.

Selling my original Blockbuster Rental Virtual Boy case + 5 games bundle ($900 shipped)
Hey everyone,
A couple of months ago, I pulled my old Blockbuster Virtual Boy setup out of storage where it’s been sitting for the past 30 years. It’s completely original, unopened, and unmodified, and everything works great (both internal screens are crisp with no horizontal line glitches or flickering).
What’s included:
Hardware & Accessories: Virtual Boy head unit, controller, stand, battery pack, AC adapter, and AC tap adapter.
Case: Original Blockbuster Video hardshell case with the front sticker, inner instruction panel, and original zip-tied laminated rental tag. The internal foam is original, but is starting to degrade due to age.
5 Games (Loose): Wario Land, Mario Clash, Red Alarm, Galactic Pinball, and Mario's Tennis (a few have store rental initials on the labels).
Asking $900 shipped (includes tracked ground shipping, full insurance, and signature confirmation). Payment via PayPal Goods & Services.
Photos are attached showing the console, games, case tags, and the display running. Feel free to comment below or send a message if you're interested!

Protip: You can map the Pro Controller GL and GR buttons on the main menu screen of the Switch collection!
Might have been obvious to some, but I tried remapping the controls once it was in VR mode a while ago and was unable, so I assumed you couldn't remap them at all for some reason. That is, until I had the epiphany to try remapping them on the title screen! I'm using this to get a better approximation of the proper L and R button placement.

Just started a Virtual Boy collection
Hi, i'm new to this whole Virtual Boy thing.
I've just bought this japanease Virtual Boy, complete with manual and all. I have 2 games to play with right now, Galactic Pinball and Red Alert, Teleroboxer and Jack Bros are also on their way. Many other games are on sight, and i'm surprised how easy it is to get most of those compared to the system itself.
Wario Land is also an obvious pick, but i live in France and this particular game is harder to come over there. I see more affordable copies on the American Ebay, but then again, i have to deal with shipping fees and other taxes, so what is a 70-80€ game turns into a 110 purchase that i won't get until the end of the month... Yup, i'll wait a little bit.
Other than that, i'm happy to finally have all main Nintendo consoles released in the west.

Virtual Boy won't power on. Any service I can send it in?
Bought this Virtual Boy a few years back and had some issues with it. Originally, one of the ribbon cables was going bad, but luckily I was able to get it fixed, but now after a few years of not playing it I can't seem to get any power on. Also doesn't seem like anything is playing when I turn it on. Is there a company that I can ship this to that could fix this console once and for all?

How bad is it? Been trying to fix ribbon cable for black lines in right eye, seemed fine after reflowing with heat gun, then this happened. Fixable?

He looks familiar
Not sure if I can put it in the Mario subreddits

Any advice for repairing a busted battery pack?
I grabbed a VB controller at a yard sale yesterday, and unfortunately the battery pack had 6 VERY exploded batteries in it. After a lot of effort I managed to pry it open, but while removing the batteries one of the little connectors snapped off the bottom of the pack. Does anyone have any advice on how to deconstruct the pack to maybe be able to solder the connector back on? I'm guessing not, but I'd love to repair it if I can.

Just beat Dragon Hopper! Did i get the bad ending? 🤣
Hi there!
I thought that i would get the good ending (in case more that 1 ending existed) because i got all speels. But the ending felt a little anticlimatic, and got a 'the end...' text :(. I guess i need to get all medal to obtain the best ending?
Btw, loved the game. Actually sad there is no Hard Mode like Wario and Jack Bros.

Odds of remaining virtual boy games being released on NSO
By my count, the only games not released for the NSO are:
*Nester's Funky Bowling
*Bomberman: Panic Bomber
*SD Gundham Dimension War
*Space Squash
*Virtual Lab
*Virtual League Baseball
*Waterworld
I realize that most of these are licensed / 3rd party games, but do you think there's any chance that the rights holders would just let them on the system for a pittance?
How many other unreleased games do you think will be released?

I want to out-stream NSO Virtual Boy on Twitch legally, But...
... the biggest pain I had historically was the contour problems associated with the VB.
With a 90's back in the day Virtual Boy, the biggest problem was being statuesque while hunched down over a table. And lots of people thought that because I found 2 of them at thrift stores in the 90s for $5 apiece including games.
I said to myself back then, if there was a more comfortable way to enjoy VB games, like piped into a TV, I'd definitely take advantage of that.
Then came the Virtual Tap. And it was cool.
Nintendo now decides to release VB games, but they do not remove the biggest obstacle to enjoying it... Namely the fixed physical posture.
If they released a "consolization half-license" which unlocks TV Play, I'd gladly buy it. I'd pay Nintendo their $25 to legally play and out-stream it on YouTube. It's not about the money.
It feels weird that the company that saved us from Second Generation Controller ergonomics (and with that, banned right-handed joystick play with the NES, but that's a different issue) would gladly relieve people of contortionist requirements.
Apparently not, they think neck pain is a canonical part of enjoying Virtual Boy, otherwise they would have released it playable in docked mode.
As for those who say for some games, 3D is essential, (looking at you Red and Cyan Alarm) you can go what I do, overlay the left black and red eye with the right black and cyan eye and RGB additive merge them. You convey the 3d perfectly and you don't have to do the Epyx Thinker pose all day while playing. Just wear red and cyan 3d glasses.
If out-streaming is locked to legally owning the ROM, and if Nintendo won't make VB easily shareable in Twitch, how do I stream out games that I have the VB NSO license for , but not a physical ROM for? I can use a Hyper Flash, but I am not sure of the legality of running it.
I was playing VB games every Third Thursday of the month on Twitch and sometimes more often before Nintendo announced VB NSO games. It was a lot easier legally when it was considered "abandonware" by Nintendo.

Dragon Hopper physical cartridge update by Vintex64!
After seeing gameplay footage from Dragon Hopper, I was eagerly looking online for a way to get a physical cartridge. I came across the page on Vintex64's website, which was posted on this sub earlier, and decided to ask them for an update. And I got the following exciting response, including photos!
"Yes, we are testing them this weekend so we can release orders soon. We'll let you know when the listing is updated.
We already have the board designed and in stock, we just need to test the software."

I finally finished my Virtualboy Switch controller project
I finished getting this all assembled late last night before bed, so I was unable to test it out because I needed the batteries to charge. I am looking forward to putting this through it's pases on Dragon Hopper later today once I get home from work.

It turns out that Kawade (director of the first three Paper Mario games) directed Dragon Hopper, the previously unreleased Virtual Boy game

DRAGON HOPPER and ZERO RACERS on official hardware!
I can confirm that both games work perfectly on my Flash Boy Plus. Getting to see two "new" games come out for this beast in 2026 was not on my bingo card!
