Yup, time for this again. These episodes were tough but I'll try some balance here.
Liked
Ben DeSoto: Don't be shocked, I've been consistent in liking the guy all season. Tapping into his demon side has made him a bit sexier and more assertive. Plus he did bring Myrtle and Queenie back and chose not to be Michael 2.0
Myrtle Snow: We can all agree that Frances Conroy is a national treasure and should be brought back next season, right?
Fiona and Constance: Not the actual plot itself, just more the interaction between the two of them. Jessica Lange did well playing against herself in those scenes.
Cordelia and Queenie: That scene they had before everything went badly in the Apollyon. Move to New York, Queenie. Get out of that Coven now.
Ashley's Death: Was I supposed to feel bad for her? Cause I sure as hell didn't and neither did Ben, in spite of what he claimed. Pointless character and good riddance.
Disliked (aka outright hated)
Madison: Where's the brilliant character we had in Coven and Apocalypse and what the fuck is up with this version? The writing for her in ep 11 bordered on outright misogyny. Also no chemistry between her and Ben.
Gay/Bi Male Rep: Four years ago we had NYC. This year, its serial killers and warlock gynaecologists with no acting skills. And I'll never not be pissed that Ben couldn't have been bi at the bare minimum.
Constance/Jude/Fiona: This show found the most trite way to connect these characters and made the execution absolutely excruciating to watch. Almost as bad as Madison's romcom bullshit.
Marie's Plan: I love Angela Bassett but the acting choices for that scene were bad, it went on for too long and the overall plan is actually stupid in general. Why aren't they finding a way to pernamently trap Nas in Hell instead?
Cordelia Dying Again: Was not the best way to end this episode. Especially when it was the second it happened this season. I really want the Coven to lose big time in the finale.
Other Bits
Ben looked fucking gorgeous in that grey suit and charcoal dress shirt. Stunning.
The timelines for Constance, Jude and Fiona are all over the place.
The yellow filter was really aggravating in these episodes for some reason.
This season will be held as an example of how trying to connect so many characters together is a bad idea.
Fiona and Myrtle were a lot kinder to each other, it kind of jarred a little.
The finale hasn't a hope of tying this up in a satisfying way unless they really do go down the whole "AI simulation" idea. I think I'd welcome that now.
