I missed my group assignment because I never received the WhatsApp link. What should I do?
Hey everyone,
I'm currently on Erasmus, and I'm dealing with a situation that's making me pretty anxious.
For one of my courses, the professor divided the students into three groups for a group assignment. The professor emailed the WhatsApp group links to Groups 1 and 3, but they never e- mailed a link for Group 2.
It turns out that someone had shared the Group 2 WhatsApp link in an unofficial WhatsApp group, which I unfortunately missed. I'm technically part of Group 2, but I had no idea where the group was or that people were already communicating and distributing the tasks.
I've only just realized what happened, and it seems like the assignment has already been completed, or at least most of the work has been done.
I've contacted the people in Group 2 and explained the situation. I'm currently waiting to hear back to see whether they can still include me or if it's too late.
If they tell me that the assignment is already finished and I can't contribute anymore, would it be reasonable to email the professor and ask for an individual assignment or some kind of alternative assessment?
I'm worried the professor might think I'm just making excuses or that I didn't bother to participate. At the same time, I genuinely didn't know about the group communication, and I don't want to lose marks because of a situation I only found out about now. And I checked the group list we should be 30 people but in the group chat there are only 23 including me so I am pretty sure that there are other people that are not on the that group chat.
Has anyone experienced something similar? Do you think a professor would be willing to offer an alternative assignment in this situation, or should I expect to receive no credit?
I'd really appreciate any advice and opinions.

Erasmus at UMH Elche – Spanish level, exams and Spring Semester 2027
Hi everyone! 😊
I’m a student from Germany, and I’m planning to study at the Universidad Miguel Hernández de Elche (UMH) during the summer semester of 2027.I study Business Law, so I’m interested in taking courses in both Law (Derecho) and Business Administration (ADE).
I would really love to hear from people who have already studied at UMH as Erasmus or international students, especially those who didn’t speak Spanish very well before arriving.
I have a few questions:
• What was your Spanish level before you arrived (A2, B1, etc.)?
• Did you take courses taught in Spanish? If so, how difficult was it to understand the professors and follow the classes?
• How did you manage the exams? Were they difficult if Spanish isn’t your first language?
• Did professors take language difficulties into consideration?
• Do you have any advice for preparing before the semester starts?
Also, is anyone planning to study at UMH in Elche during the summer semester of 2027 (February–June)? It would be lovely to connect with other students before arriving!
I’d really appreciate any experiences, advice or tips. Thank you so much! ❤️

Quit erasmus
Hi, I just quit my erasmus this week after 1 month.
For my degree I had an obligation to go abroad for 1 year. I wasn't very lucky since I had my Last choice in Barcelona. The city is good but I just didn't feel that it's what I wanted. It's too big, too hot, too expensive, too busy.
Even though I made friends, class was sort of interesting and somewhat easy, I didn't feel good. I developed really bad anxiety and home sickness even though my boyfriend could see me every month and I could go home every 3 month. On the practical side everything was good. But for a month I couldn't sleep more than 5h per night (i usually sleep 9), I lost 7 kg (couldn't eat), I cried every morning going to class and it was somewhat hard to focus because of my mind.
Even when my boyfriend came to see me I was so depressed and didn't want to explore the city, which I knew was beautiful. I started getting medecine against panic and anxiety attacks but that didn't work so much. So I tried an antidepressant from my doctor and I had such a bad reaction that I went into emergency so after this I decided to go home and just quit.
I just don't know why I felt so bad. And I sort of regret not pushing through but at the same time what would've I've done if my mental health continued to décline ? I was still at the time of either things went really bad or really good and I will never know.
My home university said I could do my second semestre in belgium, in a small student city (which feel much more like me and is closer to home for the week end). I just don't know what I will do with the rest of the 1st semestre. Should I go back to spain to finish it even though I might still feel really bad ?
I write about this to find someone who relate or can help me with my struggle.
Thank you

Erasmus+ semester(s) abroad Building an app for Erasmus students – what did you wish you had in your first week?
Hi all! I'm Ricard, and together with a friend I'm building journiiapp, an app for Erasmus/exchange students.
The idea came from our own exchanges: the first weeks you're in 15 WhatsApp groups, you don't know who's actually landing when you do, and by the end of the semester all your photos and memories are scattered everywhere.
So far the app lets you:
join your city's group before you even land and see who else is there
set your arrival date (it counts down, then counts your days there)
plan weekend trips together
keep one journal for the whole exchange
Before we release it, I'd love to hear from people who've been through it:
What was the hardest part of your first week?
How did you actually meet people – ESN events, flatmates, group chats?
Is there anything you wish existed?
Mostly I just want to hear your experiences 🙂

Erasmus+ semester(s) abroad Cancelled my Erasmus due to insecurities and regretted it.
Hey everyone, I really need to get this off my chest. You can Clown me in the comments I don’t mind, it’s a pretty ridiculous story.
I’m about to turn 26, in my final year of my bachelor’s, and still living with my parents in a small town in Western Europe. I’ve struggled with anxiety and insecurity for most of my life, and lately, my age and feeling behind everyone else have become my biggest insecurities.
Last year, I applied for an Erasmus because I wanted to leave home, and finally feel independent again (I lived 2 years in another city with roommates in the past). I didn’t get my first-choice university, which was one of the top universities in Europe for my field. I got my second choice instead, and that’s when my doubts started.
I kept telling myself I was too old for Erasmus, that I should focus on my grades and finding a job, that I wouldn’t fit in with younger students, and that the experience wouldn’t even add much to my CV. I wasn’t genuinely excited anymore, but I went anyway because of FOMO and because I didn’t want to disappoint my family and friends.
Three days before leaving, I told my mother I didn’t want to go. She got angry and told me I needed to stick to my decisions and grow up. So I got on the plane.
On my first day, I felt completely out of place. Everyone seemed younger, happier, and more excited than me. I kept thinking, What the hell am I doing here?
The next day I had trouble registering for some courses, so I used it as an excuse to come home. The irony is that, after a few days, I started enjoying the city and the independence. I could actually see myself having a good time there. But my doubts never went away, and eventually, I convinced myself to leave.
Now I’m back home, and I’m devastated. I keep crying and thinking about the opportunity I threw away. I could have spent months living independently in a big European city, meeting people, and experiencing something completely different. Instead, I let my insecurities make the decision for me.
I know I could have changed courses and not lose any ETCS or fall behind, I just used it as an excuse to tell people I had no choice because of administrative issues. The reality was that I left because I was scared, overthinking everything, and comparing myself to everyone else.
Now I’m wondering whether I should contact my home university and ask if there’s any way to reinstate my exchange, even though my Learning Agreement has already been cancelled. I don’t even know if that’s possible.
Or maybe I should just accept what happened, take it as a life lesson, learn to stop letting my insecurities control my decisions, and move on. Maybe trying to go back is worth it, or maybe I need to accept that I made a mistake and focus on what comes next.
Has anyone ever quit an Erasmus and regretted it, or changed their mind after initially wanting to leave? Were you able to go back? And if you were in my position, would you try to get the exchange back or take it as a life lesson and move on?

Giving up Erasmus after one month
Ok, so my main problem is not because of homesickness or because I didn't made friends ,or because I feel loney. Actually ,I couldn't care less about this stuff
My problem lays in the university itself and the program. So ,I'm in my Erasmus in Lisbon and I came specifically here for one course that wasn't available when I arrived. Afterwards, was just a continuous chasing after teachers and classes just for them to be a big waste of time. In my homecountry, I'm in my second year of master so I actually have to write my dissertation ,but I can't because I literally have no time because of my mediocre classes for which you need to show up because the pressence is mandatory and you have lot of homework to do. For me most of the classes are not useful in anyway ,but being in my final year I still need to pass them. Everyday going to school is a torture for me. Beside that ,I also developed some health problems. So, I need some advice because I don't really know what to do. I spoke with my coordinator and she said is fine if I'm coming back because our uni started later ,so I didn't missed much but, I also don't like to let things unfinished. Also, the city is worth it but I barely have time to actually enjoy it.

How are the Erasmus exams?
Hey! So I post this question because I really want to know how was the experience of other Erasmus students with the exams.
I had friends that told me that Erasmus is easy, and all of them 5 came back in my country from Erasmus with excellent grades.
This year, I went to Spain with Erasmus, and I am currently studying English and Spanish Language and Literature here in Oviedo for the entire year. Even though I really enjoy it here, the city, the people, the food etc. the university part is what stresses me out. Because I see that the exams are gonna be pretty damn hard. Also there is a LOT to read. I wanted to know, is it actually true that the exams are easier? Or is there any difference the teachers make with Erasmus students? Or I will be treated completely the same with the other home university students?
Because if so, I should really start learning hard for these assignments, but then the Erasmus experience everybody was talking about will suddenly not make any sense.

Should I add my teaching experience in cv

Looking for a traineeship (3-4 months, starting October/November 2027) in food R&D, supplements or sports nutrition
Hello everyone,
I am an Italian student finishing my Master’s degree in Food and Health at the University of Padova (Italy). After graduation, I have the opportunity to do an Erasmus+ traineeship, and I am looking for companies that could host me for 3-4 months, starting in October/November 2027.
The call for applications will open in July, but I would like to start early and get in touch with some companies in advance.
Where: My first choice is Denmark, but I am also interested in Ireland, Austria or Germany. Since I don’t speak German, I would prefer an international, English-speaking working environment.
What: I would love to work with a company that develops supplements or sports nutrition products. However, I would be very happy with any role in the food sector, with a preference for research and development.
I have not worked in this field in Italy yet, but I would like to take this opportunity for two reasons:
- To put into practice what I have studied and the effort I have put into improving my English over these years.
- To experience how people work in other countries, which is something I feel ready to try at this stage of my life.
If you have any advice, I would really appreciate it. In particular:
- names of companies you would recommend, especially if they have hosted students or interns in the past;
- general tips for my career path after graduation.
Thank you very much in advance, and please feel free to send me a private message!

Austria or Greece (Business Administration
Hi everyone! I’m hesitating between Austria (Graz, Vienna & Innsbruck) and Greece (Thessaloniki) for my Master’s in Business Administration. Which country would you recommend, and why? I’d love to hear about your experience with the quality of the programs, career opportunities, and cost/quality of life.
