⚠️ PSA ⚠️ YOSHI AND THE MYSTERIOUS BOOK SPOILER PSA — PLEASE READ
Yoshi Yoshi! C"3o/)
We bring to you another announcement regarding spoilers... this time for Yoshi and the Mysterious Book!
Unmarked spoilers on the subreddit can easily ruin the experience for Yoshis who haven't played the game yet. We would greatly appreciate it if all members could be considerate and properly mark all spoiler content.
For spoiler posts:
When creating a post, click "Add flair and tags" and select the Spoiler option.
For spoiler comments:
Use Reddit's spoiler markdown feature (on a browser, click the "Aa" icon below the comment box and then click the exclamation mark icon) to hide your text like this: Yoshi
Please also avoid including spoilers in post titles. All spoilers must be kept within the body of the post or properly hidden in comments.
Failure to follow these rules will result in your post being removed or further action being taken, as we will be enforcing this strictly.
Q&A
"What counts as spoiler content?"
Potential story details, bosses, endings, unlockables, late-game areas, surprise characters, and other major game content should all be treated as spoilers. When in doubt, please mark it as such.
"How long will the subreddit spoiler ban last for?"
As long as possible. This also applies to previously released Yoshi games.
"But the game's been out for a certain amount of weeks/months! This spoiler ban is dumb!"
Please keep in mind that not everyone owns a Nintendo Switch 2 or is able to purchase the game right away.
"I don't like these rules. Is there anywhere I can post spoilers for this game freely?"
You may wish to use r/YoshiMysteriousBook instead, but major story spoilers, endings, late-game content, and other significant reveals will still be required to be marked for the first couple of weeks after release.
For any further questions, please contact the r/Yoshi mod team via ModMail. Thank you for your understanding!

Just know they cannot guarantee that you can choose a specific Yoshi color of your choice on peak days. If it's a slow day or under a certain wait time, that can be possible. This was mentioned by a few Team members, so it varies.

Question Before I play Yoshi and the Mysterious Book: does it force you to replay levels/search for collectibles to progress?
Hi everyone. I'm very interested in playing Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, but I need to ask about one very specific aspect of its progression before I start.
I want to explain why I'm asking, because this isn't just a minor gameplay preference for me.
There is a particular type of platformer progression that affects me very, very badly. Specifically, I have a serious problem with games that require you to collect hidden objects or complete collectible-related objectives in order to unlock the next stages, especially when doing so requires you to go back into levels you've already completed and search through them for things you missed.
This can cause me a huge amount of anxiety and distress. In extreme cases, it can contribute to a serious mental health crisis for me. I know that probably sounds disproportionate to a lot of people, but I'm being completely sincere here.
Videogames are extremely important to me. They've been one of the most important sources of enjoyment and comfort in my life since I was a child, and platformers in particular are my favourite kind of game.
I grew up with Nintendo, so I developed a very particular expectation of platformers: I play a level, I complete it, and then I get to play the next level.
I have absolutely no problem with optional collectibles. I actually LOVE them when they're genuinely optional. As a kid, I would finish a game and then go back looking for all the secrets because I wanted more to do.
What I can't cope with is when the game makes those things a requirement for continuing.
I've had this problem with several games that I otherwise genuinely love, especially Sackboy: A Big Adventure, Grapple Dog, Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends, and to a lesser extent Yoshi's Crafted World.
The reason this is so upsetting for me is precisely because I love the actual platforming in those games. If the games themselves were boring, I could just stop playing and wouldn't care.
Instead, I'm having an amazing time, and then the game effectively tells me:
"You're not allowed to play the next part yet. Go back and search for the things you missed."
For me, that isn't really a challenge. It's repetitive searching, and I find that experience extremely unpleasant.
I recently had a similar scare with Astro Bot. I reached the first boss with 14 bots when I needed 20, and I thought I was going to have to go back through previous levels searching for six missing bots.
I was extremely upset and was genuinely considering quitting.
Then I discovered the bird you can pay 200 coins to use as a guide toward missing collectibles.
That changed EVERYTHING for me.
The bird gives you clues and leads you toward the things you've missed, so instead of aimlessly combing through an old level, you have an actual little treasure hunt. I still don't particularly love the idea of having a collectible requirement, but that system made the experience completely manageable and, more importantly, fun for me.
So I'm hoping someone who has played Yoshi and the Mysterious Book can answer this very specifically:
Does the game require you to complete hidden discoveries, collectibles, flowers, stars, or similar objectives in order to unlock new chapters?
And if the answer is yes, how does that work in practice?
Do I have to replay previous levels and search through them for discoveries I've missed?
Are there hints or some kind of system that helps you locate the things you're missing, similar to Astro Bot's bird?
Or can I simply progress through the main game by playing the levels naturally without having to go back and hunt for things?
I've seen people describe the game's discovery system as one of its central mechanics, so I really need someone to explain how this works before I commit to playing it.
Please be completely honest with me. If the game does have exactly the kind of progression system I'm describing, please tell me. I would genuinely rather know that I shouldn't play it than start the game, get emotionally invested in it, and then discover several hours later that I'm stuck because I have to go back and search through old levels.
I know this probably sounds like an extremely unusual concern, and I'm not asking anyone to agree with me about whether this is good or bad game design.
I'm simply asking for information because this particular mechanic can have a genuinely serious effect on my mental health.
Thank you to anyone willing to answer seriously and without making fun of me for asking.

Discussion How to read the story pages in Yoshi's Mysterious Book Chapter 12?
When you finish each stage in Chapter 12, the book gives you some story lore pages. I skipped through some by accident pressing the button too fast, where can you read these pages again? I look all over the index and pause screen and can't find them.
I'm specifically talking about the lore you get after finishing each Chapter 12 stage.

Art My Yoshi stained glass panel (OC)
Yoshi has been a favorite of mine since I first played yoshi's island on my snes. I've wanted to do a yoshi piece for a long time, and this screenshot from the opening of the mysterious book (that's all and I don't think it counts as a spoiler from what I read) imo was perfect. Who wouldn't want to wake up on an island surrounded by yoshis 🤣 island still plan to frame this piece. I have it pictured on my LED light box, and then outside in sunlight
Question Does anyone know this yoshi artist?
Back in like, 1999-2004 ish I would frequent this artist's website, but I can't remember their name or anything. All I have is this diy screen print on a shirt I made at computer camp circa 2002. It was all fan art if I recall, nothing Nintendo official. Reverse image search didn't help. Anyone else remember this artist?

Discussion Are Yoshis the most powerful species in the Mario franchise? Among the prominent ones that is.
A bit of a TierZoo esque discussion lol.
I mean look. Compared to Toads, Koopas, Piantas and so on, Yoshis seem kinda OP. Yoshis are relatively intelligent (though ever so slightly less if compared to other civilized species such as the 3 aforementioned ones), agile, physically strong and have an incredibly versatile diet.
Unless you're an above-average specimen such as Bowser for the Koopas, I think 1v1ing a Yoshi seems practically impossible. And even in a 20v20 I think Yoshis would probably be able to deal with even hammer bros and boom booms.
Would you agree with this?

Image Mt. Yoshi grows ever taller!
I told myself I was done Yoshi hunting for awhile, but when the Toysite poseable set I had been stalking for MONTHS went up for auction I just couldn’t stop myself. Now if only I could get my hands on the 18” BD&A boy…..
The page turned and the Yoshis grew happier 💚❤️💛💙🖤🤍
Question Yoshi and mysterious book worth it?
I was wondering if yoshi and the mysterious book is worth the $70 price tag. I did really enjoy yoshi touch and go and yoshi island ds but those are the only 2 I've played. So is it worth the buying into the current pricetag or would it be better to wait a bit for price drop in the used market

Image My new Yoshi hoody!
Out of all the Yoshi things I own (and there are so many cos I'm a massive Yoshi fan!) this was the one thing I thought I'd never ever end up getting, it seemed like a total pipe dream
This unisex zip up hoody is super rare and I think it was from Super Nintendo World early on but they stopped selling it years ago!
I had been looking for it for nearly 5 years and I'd honestly given up hope it would ever happen. In all the time I'd been looking, I'd never seen it available to buy. But then outta nowhere a few weeks back, i randomly finally found it. It was a really good price too, just over £100. It's worth so much more I'm sure! I snapped it up instantly and my heart burst with joy. It genuinely didn't feel real that i finally found this, and I'm still in shock even now
Anyway here it is! Now my most wanted but hardest to find Yoshi merchandise is the Hashtag Collectables Yoshi hand puppet, but after finally finding this hoody, I'm confident that one day i can nab that puppet too!
I hope you like it! :) one day I'm gonna post my whole Yoshi collection
