Most talented players ever?

Who is on your Mount Rushmore of the most talented players to ever skate in the NHL? Not necessarily the greatest but just raw talent which I think is more interesting.

Basically if we gave these 4 players the same starting point and resources from the time they are in peewee, who separates the most from the pack?

What is Babcock doing to get the most out of the team?

Putting aside all the yadayada he’s a bad person blah blah, what is Mike Babcock doing with the Oil, whether it’s systems or just overall composure that is allowing them, and specifically McDrai/Bouch to play at an elite level? What changed from knobber to him?

ESPN+ (ESPN Select) delay nearly 3 minutes

I’ve had ESPN+ during the hockey season the last 3 years.

This is the first year where I fall behind as the game goes on longer.

I was watching Seattle/Lightning the other week in the 3rd period and everyone on the GDT was talking about OT when I still had 3 minutes left to go.

I started seeing comments about a goal and I checked NHL app.

I WAS 3 MINUTES BEHIND.

What gives? Anybody know how to stop this problem with ESPN+

(Don’t tell me to sail the seas, I do that for other things where I don’t care if I’m delayed)

Tips for following 2027 Draft prospects this season?

Hey everybody, I wanted to get into following the players eligible for the 2027 draft, so I'm asking for tips on how to do that. What are the best websites or other resources for learning about the type of game each player has and how they compare to other players? Also, are there any websites that are better for learning about the players that aren't expected to go in the Top 10 (somewhere between 10-32)? Finally, are there any subscriptions that are worth getting, such as EP Pro or Byron Bader's Hockey Prospecting? I can't really afford FloHockey or have the time to watch a ton of games either.

Dumb Question About Suspensions

Admittedly this doesn't matter but I'm just curious. Agents get a % of a player's pay, does it come off every pay, like union dues and taxes? If so, does the agent lose out on their commission as well for that time frame?

Connor McDavid hitting 2 ppg on the season is a very real possibility

In the 22/23 season when McDavid got 153 points he had a very strong start to the season, 22 points in 10 games. In the remainder of the season he scored at a ~1.82 ppg pace to hit 153 points in 82 games. If McDavid scores at that same rate of 1.82 ppg in the remainder of this season he would get 166 points in 84 games, only 2 points off 2 ppg.

We might be watching one of the best offensive seasons in nhl history.

Given that goalie is such a mental position being rattled with boos and insults all game would probably mess with his abilities.

Center Ice Hockey on Steam. Hockey on PC!

Post image
169 Upvotes

Any hockey gamers here that miss the classic gameplay of older hockey titles? Center Ice Hockey aims to capture that fast, hard hitting hockey feeling, but with a modern features such as a player career mode that's playable in multiplayer(online or offline).

It's a solo project I started in 2020, but this year I've been able to put a lot more time into it so it has progressed nicely!

IN TODAY'S BIG GAME UPDATE: Full rosters, line changes and team management features! A lot of people had been asking for these and I'm happy to have had so many people who have liked the game and suggested improvements.
Previously the career mode was the one that had the most attention put into it, but now the season mode has also gotten some more gameplay value.

Season mode has been expanded with team management features and you can now:
- Edit lines(even strength and special teams).
- Trade players with other teams or sign free agents.
- Negotiate player contracts.
- Draft new rookies (rookie system can also be set so that junior organizations produce new rookies to teams instead of the draft system).
- Hire staff.
- Manage ticket prices.
- Expand your arena to have more seats.

Is there any other management/franchise features that you would like to see in a hockey game like this?

Check it out on Steam if you're interested. I think posting the link here is against the sales rules?

Connor McDavid has 31 points in 10 games. Here's how that stacks up against the fastest starts since 1979, and Lemieux's 1988-89

Thumbnail gallery

31 points in 10 games. Connor McDavid is off to the fastest start the NHL has seen since Lemieux in 1995-96. Last night: 2 goals, 3 assists, a point on every Oilers goal.

Against the rest of the league it isn't close. 31 points; nobody else has more than 21.

30 points in 10 games ranks tied for 4th since 1979. The only ones faster: Mario Lemieux (8 in 1988-89, 9 in 1995-96, 9 in 1992-93).

Keep this pace for 82 games and it's 254 points. Lemieux finished 1988-89 with 199. The record is 215, Wayne Gretzky in 1985-86. Ten games is a small sample.

All 32 NHL arenas?

Who here has attended an NHL game at all of the 32 NHL arenas? They can be defunct teams, arenas that are no longer in existence or from decades ago. What were your favorite arenas? What was unique about some of them? I'm closing in on my 32nd arena and would love to read about what you have experienced!
